Even Transformers Prime, A cartoon that premiered over a decade ago, showed more respect to the origins of Optimus and Megatron than this trailer. They had the template and still fucked up. And I also remember a time when voice actors werent always celebrities.
What are you taking about? In TFPrime there is only a brief story of the origins in a few images, here we will actually see it, for example Megatron's life and work as a miner as well as the unjust system in which they live. The director was based on the same material as TFPrime.

This movie looks promising and yall are quick to judge based on the comedy alone. Kinda embarrassing for even a fan. I have a feeling the story is going to be light hearted until it reaches more of a serious tone as the movie progresses. Remember this is prior to the war for Cybertron. No casualties, no deaths, no nothing.
What makes me really sure that people are overreacting over the comedy is due to a single fact that most of the humor in this trailer comes from Bumblebee ALONE, while other main characters are depicted more seriously.

@@Knick3607 The goofy humor is fine but this looks like it's made for toddlers almost, it all depends on how dark they choose to go, how good the action is, and what the end result is, and if the storytelling with them being friends to enemies pans out, and how much they grow as characters.
If it stays goofy/childish like this the entire film I can't see myself liking it.. if they end up getting serious, dark, badazz, transforming (pun intended) into the characters we know and love in a cool way then it could be great. I just don't know though. I'm gonna expect the worst hope for the best.
Thor Love and Thunder meets Transformers
Keep in mind the Optimus and Megatron we see in this trailer are young versions of these characters, so we could some original voice actors later on in the movie. Also just cuz the voices are different from what we’re used to doesn’t make it horrible

I agree they made the whole plot too childish if they wanted to show the origin it should have been serious about slavery and cruelty, I would say the quintissions part made a bit sense but the rest look awful especially with what they did to bumblebee and optimus and megatron, they should have added the 2018's referece and work.

This franchise always had goofiness in it. It's actually kind of how I pictured their friendship being in the Golden Age. I think we just got used to how dark they have made the franchise over the years. We had Transformers that transformed into a cassette recorder, a leg, a toaster. The original franchise was always lighthearted and the comics were pretty funny. I'm looking forward to it.

If you want a faithful transformers story, check out the new transformers comic made by skybound. It is the best transformers comic that rivals the original and the G1 cartoon. It’s also very graphic and violent which makes it the most mature transformers to date.

Yep, this to me looks geared towards the younger Transformers fan, nothing wrong with that gotta get the younger generation into it. But if this prequel is suppose to align with Bumblebee and Rise of the Beast the tone is way different.

The main plot of this is based on their origin in a few comics but, yeah. They goofy-fied it. It would have been perfect if it had a serious tone, and showed the start of cybertron's civil war but it's kinda clear this wasn't made for us

@@cahe6161Really? I’m seeing bits of G1 origins in there as well as other continuities. The Quintessons rule Cybertron’s surface while “the workers” are their slaves. My guess is the plot is for them to want to see the surface, only for them to discover this situation. Sentinel Prime is the ruthless Autobot dictator who works for the Quintessons. The same guy who drove Alpha Trion into hiding after heavily injuring him. Then Alpha Trion discovers Orion and his gang and they’re somehow caught in this liberation quest to rid themselves of the Quintessons. Somehow with Orion becoming the leader of the Autobots, there will be some type of division between Megatron and him by the end of the movie, or even the sequel. I’m hoping they showed the comedic side for the trailer just to catch the general audiences attention, while then having a more serious tone for the film itself. Not getting my hopes up, but the trailer has started to grow on me with all the background lore details

@markplott4820 just curious what is the source material? Because I've seen bits and pieces of the g1 lore in the animations but not in a cohesive way. I think the transformers prime books (which lines with war for cybertron) was pretty good but I'm curious what the g1 lore is

Headmasters goes into the Quinteson occupation pre-G1.

I'm a G1 fan and the way I remember it Transformers isn't always comedy. Megatron is a serious dedicated villain and if his past was a wacky dude you will start asking yourself, what the f*ck happened to him that made him change this much? This made me think of Guardians of the Galaxy so much. I'm sure it xould be fun as a comedy and not part of any canon but the voices didn't work well, however, this is before and maybe leading up to them becoming Prime a Megatron so we could get Frank and Peter doing the voices near the end? I will wait until I see more footage before I say if it's gonna be good or bad.

I think you forgot that Megatron was originally a miner and THEN turned into a gladiator much later. It's part of the lore from idw comics, same thing with the D-16 name.
Same thing with Orion, he wasn't even a librarian in the original cartoon. Hell, he was a literal cop in the same idw comics...
Different continuities, different origin. There are other canons aside from TF:prime.

I feel like we've had so many try-hard Transformers movies since Michael Bay started making them way back in like 2007 that this one is fine. Yeah, it looks goofy but Transformers was a kids cartoon. This looks like a kids movie. Makes sense to me. Would I have preferred a better movie? Obviously. We already have plenty of those, though. If this was the ONLY Transformers movie ever made, it would be a massive disappointment. It is not.
Its taking it back to the G1 roots and im all for it, people who arent liking it are too accustomed to the michael bay films
When you hire writers who love musical theater and pitch Transformers mixed with "Wicked." There were 80's episodes that went back in the past on Cybertron but I'm guessing that they were not viewed, referenced, cared about...

I thought this looked great and I have been into Transformers since they came out in the 80s. Everyone has a closed mind and thinks the characters have to be exactly the same for over 40 years with absolutely no differences. A soft reboot and a breathe of fresh air is much needed. Nothing in this looks woke so far so people should be happy about that considering what most movies are doing these days.
My excitement level for this movie is zero

Tyrone as much as I rock with you this movie isn’t going to be for everyone. As a father I like I can introduce transformers on a way that is fun for him while still connecting to something I love. Not every transformers has to be for the people who grew up on it 25+ years ago.

This is a huge departure from all the established lore. This is more of "what if transformers were like teenagers?'" It is definitely not what I expected

This is taking inspiration directly from the lore of several comics and animated series. Orion Pax always sounded like a young guy before he became Optimus Prime. The only thing I'm not sold on is how goofy Bumblebee is
What lore? Transformers lore is more confusing than Star Wars Legends/Expanded Universe lore.
Ironically his name was Orion Pax and he did know Megatron when they were young. Also got knowledge from an old guy named Alpha Trion. Established in the original cartoon. Not everything is woke agenda rile bait.

I can see this going either way. It could be a massive success from the concept and animation, or the script could bomb it.
What really has me interested is that this is a new take on the Pre-war Origins. We get to see Megatron and Optimus as D-16 and Orion, as the brothers they once were, rather than the bitter foes they became. It also looks like the main enemies will be the Quintessons, so we may even be going further back to the Occupation Era of Cybertron.

That's got to be the worst Megatron voice I've ever heard, same goes for the guy they picked for Bumblebee, I was afraid he would play himself instead of the character and that's exactly what he does in this, I like the animation though. This is a major deviation from their origins, feels like we'll have cringe Marvel writing, Alligned continuity still better

Transformers One: A Disney-Pixar Film
I think once I got over it not being what I was expecting, I actually really appreciated it for what it was. I laughed out loud a few times, and my kids seem to be into this. Not everything has to be made for me. I think this movie could surprise people if they give it a chance. Much in the same way that into the spider verse did. Or the Lego movie. People were hating on this two films before they came out.
