This is one of those films with a raw power that vibrates off the screen. You'll find yourself thinking about it for days. Some of the best writing, acting and directing I've ever seen. Don't let the simple premise of 4 people in one small location having a long conversation deter you from watching it, I was moved to tears by this.
What a film, powerful and memorable. The four main characters are superb. Extremely well-written and directed by actor Fran Krantz. It's definitely one you can't miss.
Martha plimpton is such a great actress. Has been since the 80s. Comedy , drama , silly anything this woman is handed she nails. Get martha oscar nominated.
better late than never, Martha is 51 years old, Hilary Swank won 2 Oscars before she was even 35...and that proved to be a reason why her career took a slide after these 2 Oscars...she won too many things too early...
Watched this just now. Must say it's intimidating to watch given the fact that it's just 4 people talking, but it's just soooo good, I couldn't stop listening to each one of them talk and unravel their side of the story. The actors have done an extremely, extremely gr8 job, such nuanced performances, it's a masterclass in acting, but Anne Dowd does get to me different than the others, not once could I say she was acting, she lived her character. The script n direction was perfect. Loved this film. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ann Dowd differently deserves an oscar for this role...her performance was more than incredible..you will forget it was acting..they all were incredible but she was unique
Having lost my brother (my parents son obviously), the depiction of grief is incredibly accurate. I was delaying watching this, but my father passed recently and I needed to let it out. This movie definitely helped with that.
Such an intimate film and very powerful.Dosent need details to know the details, if that makes sense. Im so very sorry for your losses.Comes to all of us eventually. But im glad you got some sort of outlet via the movie. much love Kieran
Very true. Was one of the most memorable villains in The Patriot. Will be great to see him in this-- it looks like this film will be emotionally heavy for sure.
Saw it today on Sky; superb on every level, the writing and acting outstanding. Unfair to mention one above the others but Martha Plimpton is a revelation and must surely get a nod for this performance. Bravo all round.
A masterpiece film! I own it on DVD and have watched it many times. Aside from the absolutely brilliant performances of the four main characters, the other actors were horrendous (glad their screen time was minimal). No Oscar nominations was a critical flaw, in my humble opinion.
I saw Mass pretty early and for 5 months I assumed this was automatically going to be the front runner for best picture. Or at least in the top 3. But I think the Academy is sometimes biased against first time directors
I have tickets to watch an advance screening in the UK but after sobbing my way through the trailer I think I'll be gifting them! Such a powerful emotive gut wrenching film... 😢
Just heard Mark Kermode talk about this film and thought a view of the trailer might help. It's not the first film to deal with the aftermath of death but like "let's talk about Kevin " it's going to be uncomfortable and compelling viewing.I can see that both views would be the same side of the coin and just as gut wrenching.
Many reasons but one good reason would be to learn. Maybe being moved to feel even a part of what parents who really experience this feel would move more people to bring about real resolutions to stop school shootings from happening.
Mass is about a shooting but its also about coming together and dealing with grief through forgiveness and understanding. The main location of the movie is a church so the title has multiple meanings
Not really. There are several revelations in the film, many of which I did not anticipate and only enriched my understanding of the characters, as well as paid off at the culmination of the film. At least give the movie a try.

I think Aunt Lydia is a good actress. Whatever her real name is. But, she could use more range in my opinion. Her voice always sounds the same. Like are you a misunderstood parent who's kid shot up a school, or are you reciting Shakespeare? 🥴 Ease up on the dramatic dragged out voice. Maybe it's her accent. 🤷🏽♀️
It’s just her accent. If you compare this to the endless parade of crazy villains she usually plays, her performance here as a broken but loving parent is a breath of fresh air. It’s my favorite performance of hers because I never thought of her as Aunt Lydia and actually got weepy over some of her big emotional scenes

The Oscars passed a rule about affirmative action, and this movie isn't complying, so don't expect Oscars.

Jason Isaacs is incredibly talented and underrated. Anyone who has seen him in the series Brotherhood would likely agree.
Yeah, we hardly see him in a non villainous role in live action and animation.

Props to first time director Fran Kranz. Amazing job for his debut
Am I the only one that thinks this film should be turned into a play?
It was initially meant to be a play.
Definitely a minimalist play.
Saw it today on Sky; superb on every level, the writing and acting outstanding. Unfair to mention one above the others but Martha Plimpton is a revelation and must surely get a nod for this performance. Bravo all round.
Great movie. Superb cast, and a reminder of how excellent Martha Plimpton is. Give her more meaty roles!

Unbelievable film. I strongly suggest it. Just make sure to take a deep breath beforehand.

Why miss out looks like an incredible film.
No, you definitely need to see this. The acting is outstanding.
Why on earth would you do that 😅
I did find it emotional, but that was mainly down to the power of the acting, which was superb.

What piece is that classical music? I'm a pianist so would love to have the sheet music. Can anyone help please?!
Use Shazam app, it’s will help you to find the names of any songs you want to know!
Did you find out the title of the soundtrack? I want to play it on the piano so badly but I can’t find the title anywhere, Shazam doesn’t work either
Ann Dowd is such a fine actress.
Great film, brilliantly acted, recommended viewing!
Does anybody know the name of the piano playing in the background? Pls I need to know
It’s the best movie of 2021 ! Hope they receive oscar nominations
Artistically I understand why someone would watch this but emotionally why would you watch this knowing your going to leave feeling great sadness?
Because it can be beautiful to feel something profound, whether it's joy or sadness. Because it can be cathartic. I love it.
Many reasons but one good reason would be to learn. Maybe being moved to feel even a part of what parents who really experience this feel would move more people to bring about real resolutions to stop school shootings from happening.
Because sadness is immensely preferable to not feeling a thing.
I didn't leave feeling sadness; I left feeling hope and difference
I’d rather feel sadness than apathy. But while this movie is sad, it isn’t overly manipulative. It’s emotionally powerful and has heart
