Elizabeth Fraser's voice is my favorite thing in the whole world. This song and the entire "Love's Easy Tears" EP comprise my favorite songs ever. Everything about Cocteau Twins was so perfect in that period.

Anthony, there's something to be said about that ying yang tension between members in a band that sparks a creative drive. For instance, you had that tension with Lou Reed and John Cale in The Velvet Underground and Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno in Roxy Music.
In my opinion, the twenty years from 1979 to 1989 were the best for 4AD, a glorious label that indelibly and forever marked the history of music. Now let's talk about "Crushed", a song that perfectly combines the musical concept with the visual - aesthetic one that characterized the orientation of the Ivo Watts Russel brand at that time. Written specifically to be integrated into the super release "Lonely Is An Eyesore", this dream pop / ethereal wave track exponentially emphasizes the surrealism of the Cocteau Twins, spreading a musicality that immediately captivates the listener. Ethereal, dreamlike melodies surround mind and spirit, merging with the imagination and with the soul itself. The guitarism of Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde is simply superb, as is the chant of Elizabeth Fraser. An exceptional song for something very, very different from a simple compilation: "Lonely Is An Eyesore" is unique, unrepeatable, eternal, starting from the sound contents up to the design. By the way, did you know that a copy of its sleeve is present in the permanent exhibition of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London?
Deze muziek is van een bijzondere niet nader onder woorden te brengen schoonheid! Ik ga die woorden ook niet meer zoeken... Liz Fraser blijft voor mij de beste zangeres sinds, op z'n minst, de laatste 20 jaar! Klasse!
I was felt the same about Crushed. It's not my favourite of the CTs, but close. But the end with the chiming guitar, I just don't want to end when I listen to it!
Hi I saw them at The Paramount Theatre in Denver in 1993 and had very good seats....they were very good albeit a bit lackadaisical 2 guitarists a vocalist and a tape machine......it was still an awesome show
Sometimes words get in the way. It seems that Liz chooses the syllables involved in words, to a beautiful effect. I sometimes hear other languge's mixed into some of the lyrics... I enjoy ALL of the "Cocteau Twins" catalog, from the first "EP" to the last "CD".. I've never even questioned the music, I just enjoyed it... I accept it as a gift!
The good thing about today though is that some 14 year old could stumble upon this song or Cocteau Twins tonight through Spotify and have them be their favorite band during their formative years too :)
My favorite band for all time greatest singer-ever,greatest guitarists-ever,no other band comes close to their heavenly sound.Cocteau Twins vibrate at such a high octave their music not only touches Heaven,it is Heaven!!
I've been enjoying this video for some years now. This is such an interesting song. I find it genuine, as it shows so much of the time, place and vibe that made it possible. It's brilliant!
This song reminds me the first train trips to met my ex gf for the first times. She lived in another city, Vicenza. There was some magic in that period.
I was not young when they started to play. I listened to them a couple of times, maybe (It was so crazy everything back then). I think I went back to their stuff in the early 90s. And never again. Until probably 2 years ago, that memories and sounds came back (Carolyn's Fingers) and I recognized her voice, the guitars, and everything started again. The big difference is that now my dear daughter shares the same musical taste... Such is life when great.

Oh Liz, my heart. Lucky enough to see them twice toward the end of their run. The "Four-Calendar Cafe" tour and the "Milk & Kisses" tour, both at Atlanta's Roxy.
Saw them at Lisner Auditorium in Washington DC (Geo Washington Univ) December 1994 - Four Calendar Cafe tour. I remember one random thing from that show: Before CT came on, they were playing some ambient/dance-y electronic music, and there was a guy up in the front off to the side, he started dancing to it, and got a whole section of people over by him cheering him on!
After all these years still listening CT and this masterpiece! ( they have a lot). This one still in my top10 of all time and I listen music since the early 80's! 🖤🖤🖤

wish this song never ended
It is much too short, indeed... 😌
I was felt the same about Crushed. It's not my favourite of the CTs, but close. But the end with the chiming guitar, I just don't want to end when I listen to it!
I can so relate. ❤️
So sad,,, i haven't brought myself to hear these since my mother passed, 6 year ago. But pushing forwards now,,, Thanks for posting!!~
Pure Genius. You don't come across this type of heavenly music very often. Lets be thankful.
What I wouldn't give to see Cocteau Twins live...my favourite band 💖
Same.
Hi I saw them at The Paramount Theatre in Denver in 1993 and had very good seats....they were very good albeit a bit lackadaisical 2 guitarists a vocalist and a tape machine......it was still an awesome show
June Mc saw them with 4 calendar cafe in NYC!!she's an unpretentious Angel!ethereal voice is unmatched!!
June Mc one of my favorite bands too. I have 4 of their albums on vinyl and the cd "The moon and the melodies"
saw them at the Hollywood Paladium, and then back to back nights at The Warfield in San Fransisco. I'm a lucky man...one of my fav bands ever
One of the best Cocteau Twins songs ever
I never get sick of this song...or just CT in general, my favorite band
this is so beautiful and haunting, still full of joy... My favorite Cocteu Twins song.
This was the first song by Cocteau Twins I had ever heard when I bought Garlands and then the whole collection to date. Magicians!
I love Liz's smile right at the end! 😍 Beautiful music ! So glad I'm old & the right age to have grown up with their music in my life. 🎄🌹
The good thing about today though is that some 14 year old could stumble upon this song or Cocteau Twins tonight through Spotify and have them be their favorite band during their formative years too :)
I love Cocteau Twins! Elizabeth's voice is wonderful.
Me too!30 years since I heard blue bell knoll!the best avant garde, dream, atmospheric band yes!!
Of course Liz Fraser’s voice is a gift from Heaven, but their guitar is just a poem.
Been listening to these guys for almost 30 years & never tire of them-bliss!!
My favorite band for all time greatest singer-ever,greatest guitarists-ever,no other band comes close to their heavenly sound.Cocteau Twins vibrate at such a high octave their music not only touches Heaven,it is Heaven!!
120 minutes was a special show because it captured splendors like this
I'm pretty sure this song is not on "Love's Easy Tears," but it is on "Lonely is an Eyesore." It's still a gem of a song.
You are correct, the 4AD compilation album
A piece of genius. My favorite Cocteau Twins tune. Incredible it was never on a regular album.
I've been enjoying this video for some years now. This is such an interesting song. I find it genuine, as it shows so much of the time, place and vibe that made it possible. It's brilliant!
just want to say thanks to liz robin simon for making such wonderful music for me to listen to over all those years .
I love everything she does with that voice!
My favourite singer, amazing group!! I have dreamt so much of seeing them live in a concert
just sweet and brilliant
I was in high school when this song came out, it was on mtv the whole time. Thats when mtv was good and music as well -
Amazing and emotional masterpiece 💜
This video for Crushed was filmed and edited to look and feel the way it does.. Just perfect.
From 4AD - Lonely is an eyesore. 25+ years. Love it
This song reminds me the first train trips to met my ex gf for the first times. She lived in another city, Vicenza. There was some magic in that period.
That key change makes me shiver with bliss
I was not young when they started to play. I listened to them a couple of times, maybe (It was so crazy everything back then). I think I went back to their stuff in the early 90s. And never again. Until probably 2 years ago, that memories and sounds came back (Carolyn's Fingers) and I recognized her voice, the guitars, and everything started again. The big difference is that now my dear daughter shares the same musical taste... Such is life when great.
Alucinante... hermosa, sublime..!!
Léslie Rodríguez , Muito mais que isso . É Inconfundível .!!!! !!!! . !!!! .
Essa música pirava no Madame Satã um club que eu frequentava.
This song... hell, the whole 'Lonely is an Eyesore' comp, changed my life!!
COCTEAU TWINS: This is beautiful song!!!
The first shoegaze inspiration? Anyhow I adore their music. It's a treasure I keep coming back to. 😍💕⭐
This band just knew what sounds pleasing to the human ear!
Ohh My god, amazing, mistic, perfect, live on dreams
Crushed
Feign for love
Fresh aches
Honey they're losing me
Things I'll
Follow
With this he had not yet had enough
Think so
Fresh aches
Honey they're losing me
Things I'll
Follow
With this he had not yet had enough
Have you translipped so intent
Of emotion as she?
Have you translipped so intent
On what you should swoon so?
Come entertain for
(Feign)
For love, for love
(For love)
(Fresh aches)
(It's enough)
Oh no no no
(Honey they're losing me)
Yeah love
(Things I'll)
Yeah love
(Follow)
Oh yes yes yes yes
(With this he had not yet had enough)
For love
(Things I'll)
For love
(Fresh aches)
(It's enough)
Oh no no no no
(Honey they're losing me)
Yeah love
(Things I'll)
Yeah love
(Follow)
Oh yes yes yes yes
With this he had not yet had enough
Have you translipped so intent
Of emotion as she?
Have you translipped so intent
On what you should swoon so?
With this he had not yet had enough
Have you translipped so intent
Of emotion as she?
Have you translipped so intent
On what you should swoon so?
So much Love for this Song 💛💛💛
I saw them at Lisner in 1991. Mazzy Starr opened.
I first discovered this totally awesome band way back in 1995 thru a friend. They don't make bands like this anymore......so sad.
This has a million views and that's still not enough. hidden gem.
this always reminds me of mysterious skin, great song
yes!!! me 2
Truly beautiful 💛
Excelente banda...excelente música. ..
the real twin effects..... their music lives on....
I love this song, this song is my life. Love Cocteau Twins
This whole EP was all about leaving the listener wanting more- takes me back to a more promising era.
The chorus of this song is one of the best things I´have ever heard...
I love you Liz, forever!
I love this song! I love Cocteau Twins!
After all these years still listening CT and this masterpiece! ( they have a lot). This one still in my top10 of all time and I listen music since the early 80's! 🖤🖤🖤
If the heart could sing this is wat it would sound like ❤️
♥️
my god, those Eyes........
just stunning
& the song is heart-breakingly beautiful...
I came to know the CTs with this song. I was totally Crushed with this sound. Then I found out that it's hard to say which of their songs are the most wonderful! CT forever!!
Divine, beautiful eyes, Voice
had the pleasure of seeing them a couple of times in Tampa, fla....back in the early 90s and again on the "heaven or Las Vegas" tour..chatted at length with Robin Guthrie..very funny guy....
The best Psychedelic band of all time. And, my most favorite band. Most of their songs sound so yummy. I love hearing them on mushrooms & Mdma.
Jeremy Ashton haha- god, so do I! Just been too long since I’ve been able to find any- at least I don’t have to search for the music!
THE COUCTEAU TWINS WILL NEVER EVER BE SURPASSED
This EP is my absolute favourite of theirs (and I have them all). It is the passage to their golden years. It bridges Victorialand and blue bell knoll but still has this tension of their earlier recordings...(like ikea guinea, which is my No2)
This is just truly beautiful and mind blowing. Thank you for sharing.
This is a life saver! I wish I could sing that song!
