For the longest time neither did I but then I caught a girl purposely trying to short change me (she was really bad at it) and since then I always at least pretend to, especially when multiple notes are involved.
I rarely count my change especially if its multiple bills. The other day at the store the cashier gave me about $5 to much, but I didn't notice until I already left!!!
I probably wouldn't have even questioned it If the cashier says that my change is $16.50 then so be it lol I don't think that there's necessarily a "right" or "wrong" thing to do in this scenario
