Saw your post on Reddit. Your voice really, really suits the song - it gives it a more nostalgic melancholy vibe than the more cynical sound of Jeff’s vocals on the original recording. It’s also great stripped down as a purely acoustic song. Excellent choice for a cover and excellent execution.
This really made my night man. I can't seem to get past the anxiety of singing in public or going to an open mic or anything so the feedback I've received is super limited, so reading this just made me feel really great. Thanks for listening and for leaving such a thoughtful comment. Much love.
@@Troy-Monroe I’m happy to hear that! I have very high standards for Wilco covers because they have been my favorite band since I was a teenager, which means I’ve been a Wilco fan for 20 years and am old. Lol. It’s cool to see younger people get into them. I don’t play music but I’m a writer and have tried to read my work out loud to an audience at the sort of writing equivalent of an open mic and it’s super intimidating. And I usually love i speaking but sharing art or a performance can feel like there’s so much more at stake. I think you should go for it though. It’s been rewarding when I’ve been able to overcome my anxieties and share my work with an audience in front of said audience and not from a distance. Crowds at many open mics are very forgiving of things like nerves and are stoked to see regular performers evolve and grow as they become more confident over time.
Possibly my favorite of all your covers. Clean guitar playing, too.
Nice one Troy! Good guitar and smooth voice man 👍🎵👍
Thank you! Appreciate that
