I chose to make your recipe for Thanksgiving and everyone raved about it. So cheesy and delicious. Your recipes never let me down. This was my first time attempting homemade Mac n cheese and so happy that it turned out so good. Thank you! ❤
I finally had a chance to make this today on a rainy day. I followed the instructions to the letter and it turned out amazing! Thanks so much for this great recipe!
Love your teaching methods and recipes. Thank you for all you've taught me! I look forward to seeing you reach 4 million subscribers! You can do it!!! You're almost there.
I always find making my own white béchamel then add Munster cheese is so good. Then I shred four types of cheese then a Parmesan cheese crisp or crumbs for the toppings with a little shred Parmesan. This made my mouth water when watching.
That looks great! Love the English cheddar. I mix in a tablespoon of English mustard powder into the flour to make the béchamel. Adds a lovely undertone of flavour.
My only tweak to this great recipe is adding 5oz of Fontina to replace 5oz of Gruyere. So Cheddar/Gruyere/Fontina. Fontina is hands down the most slept-on cheese in America. Melty, great on a burger, so many uses! Love this video. Thanks!
Hello! You probably get so many comments, so I don't know if you'll end up reading this or not, but if you do, I just wanted to say THANK YOU for this recipe. I made it for my husband and I today and he LOVED it!
Nutmeg! I tell people that they disagreed. They think of things like sweet potatoes. Nutmeg needs more credit for what it does. The subtle tea and nuance of fresh nutmeg is a game changer.
I love how you express yourself about the topping in the Mac and cheese! I so agree double the batch recommended bc the crunch with the Mach and cheese is 🤤 yummy
VERY similar to my Dad's "Famous" Mac and cheese (adapted from a Good Housekeeping cookbook YEARS ago). We use mustard powder and a cheddar/fontina mixture as our cheeses of choice for a good cheese pull and flavor!! Happy Mac-ing!
Such a treat! I add one tsp of sweet mustard and one tsp of sriracha to the béchamel sauce + half a clove of garlic to the simmering butter before mixing in the crumbs.
Made this one last night, I subtitute with swiss cheese. It's incredible. So delicious. My husband and I loved it. Even my brother in law asked for more. Thank you for sharing.
I just tried this recipe for thanksgiving 2023 and it’s so delicious. I added a lot of black pepper, salt , and a little chicken bouillon to add extra deliciousness in your mouth. It’s in the oven and it’s delicious right now
This is like my mom's dish for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I do like the sound of the mixing of the pasta and cheese- roux mixture. It makes my mouth water.
I wish the deli counter would grate your cheese for you like they’ll slice meat for you or at the butcher’s counter they’ll butterfly or grind meat fresh for you. It would make things so much easier 😊
I found this recipe from your original upload of this and I've made it for the last three years. This is by far the BEST baked mac and cheese. It is always a hit!
He's so polite respectful and funny I have made a few of his recipes good teacher schools needs someone like him for home economics every child should learn to cook they have to be prepared to take care of themselves on how to cook. For there families when they have there own with help of there parents as well. Thank you for your videos.
Thank you for your content good sir. You've helped my wife and become better cooks. As young parents this is a huge help. God bless you and your family.
So I made this for a fam bbq on sunday. Not only was it the best mac n cheese EVER - but I also made a crockpot pulled pork - and I encouraged them to try some in their mac n cheese. Total hit-thanks! Next up i'm trying your cinnamon rolls!
I just made this last night and it came out amazing! best recipe I've found so far for baked mac n cheese. all the other recipe's I've followed end up with a solid mass of noodle-based casserole, but this one came out super creamy. Only adjustments I made were to the ratio of cheddar to gruyere because of the particular packaging available at my grocery store
I learned five new things about cooking watching this video which is one of the main reasons I like your channel. My homemade recipe manual is filled with your recipes. They're easy to follow and yummy to boot.
I love your videos so so so much ! you are teaching me how to cook and look after my family. I am very grateful and i love how detailed you are in explaining things even if it's obvious for some people. thank you & inshallah allah rewards you for helping people.
Hi Preppy Kitchen, I took this macaroni & cheese to family dinner on 11.23. I love this Bechamel sauce....flavorful! The nutmeg is a nice touch. Thank you for this delicious recipe. Happy Thanksgiving! 🩷 😊
I am making this for myself this thanksgiving. My first time making Mac and cheese from scratch. Can’t wait. Thank you so much for your videos and happy thanksgiving to you ❤
I am making it for the first time, it’s in the oven right now, I have followed your instructions step by step 😊, am so happy, I will let you know how it turns out 😍
Omg I’ve made this several times it’s delicious on my second time making it I used bacon fat with the panko breadcrumbs for the topping it’s really good
Mac and Cheese has been a fav of mine forever. A trick I learned from my mom----to keep from getting a steam facial, just run cold water in the sink while draining the pasta., obviously beside the pasta not over it.
I learned to run cold water over the pasta to stop the cooking while I'm making the cheese sauce so the noodles don't get mooshy. I like the pasta al dente (spelled wrong idk?)
Tip: Don't use hot water when you fill up your pot. Hot water carries sediment from the hot water tank, and that build-up gets into your water and food. I'm a licensed home inspector, and it's common knowledge in our field, so I try to share that information whenever I can. Use cold water. Any minerals in the cold water will boil off, unlike the sediment in hot water.
Love your videos! We've made several now and will try this one next. I recently got to try a new Mac and Cheese dish in Baltimore that used a smoked cheddar. OMG!! Sooo good!
This recipe looks absolutely delicious I’m gonna cook it as soon as I can In the mean time doing my Mac and cheese with just Swiss chees and velveeta and ground pepper ; Swiss cheese on a block - used shredder 😂yum
That looks so delicious.😋🤤 I love my Nana's mac n cheese that she usually makes at parties or holidays that are a favorite. She taught my mom to make it so she would bake some when her job had a party and make a small bach for home. But I want to try adding the breadcrumbs when my mom teaches me.
My Cajun Memere’s advice regarding a Roux was vital in many of my dishes. For example, even though I know you’re not making gumbo, her advice regarding that roux was to cook it until you think it could almost burn and then keep cooking until it was the color of a pecan shell. That could be a labor of love the can take half an hour in a cast-iron pan. But it came from a woman who grew up on the Bayou so I will heed her advice. She also taught me that a roux Compliments so many other things. Like the thin liquid from her pot roast. It changed that into a glorious sauce.
😂 Lol Well, that's maybe not logical, but it's a whole lot better than lying to them ! That just makes the cook the one who can't be trusted, doesn't it. And if you know that they can't taste whether there's nutmeg in there in there or not, then why put it in? But I confess that I, as a dog-lover, when I meet a person who dislikes dogs then I don't really trust them either. Also illogical 😂.
Wow just caught the video for ideas and gotta say I really like your style it really connected with me. I am going to make your recipe with a few changes just have to check and see what's available at the grocery store. I will try to come back and leave a review after also
Hello amazing my kids loved it. Question can you please make these almond wedding cookies that I have tasted before 😋 one of my Greek co workers makes them also for the holidays.
Thanks for making this video!! Quick question: When you take it out at the 9:55 mark, on the lower left you can see what looks like butter bubbling. Mine had this too except a TON more, like everywhere. Do you think my roux might have broken? Maybe I put too much butter in the roux? Thanks!
I like his video because he gives each and every information a beginner needs to know . No matter how silly they are.
Exactly!! Really helps me know it’s ok when I start to do stuff and it comes to the things nobody mentions like little details
Sorry. I think he talks too much.
I've made this several times. It's always HUGELY popular, especially with teens! Grandkids request it every family gathering.
“where lumpy things may have happened” i swear you will always be my fav youtubed for recipes 😂😂😂

thanks for the inspiration
Cayenne pepper is also really nice in a cheese bechamel sauce like this one. I add cayenne with the nutmeg and it works really nicely together.
Paprika too
FYI a cheese béchamel is a mornay sauce
I also like to put some cayenne pepper in my cheese sauce.
I love this guy he did not just say if someone doesn't like nutmeg just tell them it's black pepper 😂😂😂😂 this is the cooking channel for me
😂😂😂😂😂😂

I like a couple of dashes of hot sauce myself, but the mustard does blend well with the sharp cheddar.
Worcestershire sauce is also a good flavoring addition.
A pinch of cayenne also adds a bit of umami.
@@textmessages1376 He died, and he's still dead.
What a great idea. Thanks for sharing 😊
Instead of salt, use chicken bouillon (veggie bouillon for the non meat eaters). Adds even more depth of flavor, 👍🏾
When you make the chesse sauce, or when you cook the pasta??
I think he means always...Jesus loves you always. @@jamesbrock7908
@@jamesbrock7908 For the pasta water...that flavor gets boiled into the pasta, and it's sooooo good.
I buy a kosher vegan product which is indistinguishable from real chicken bouillon
Brilliant!!!❤
I make this recipe 2-3 times per year! It’s the best baked mac and cheese recipe. I add some velveeta to help it stay creamy even after it cools down.
Just made this, it was my first time making mac and cheese. This recipe is a HIT, the breadcrumbs really take it to another level 👌

Your original Mac and cheese recipe is my go-to and everyone in my life LOVES it.
This is absolutely the best macaroni and cheese that I have ever made. We make it every Christmas Eve now!
