This is *really* reminiscent of Pat's attempt at XCOM 2. "H-how do I...oh. OH! I get it now, I know exactly what I'm doing, if I just oh wait no humanity is all dead." All it's missing is Woolie's pitch for the perks of throwing in with the giant alien bugs.
Speaking of XCOM 2 I hope they do a let's play for Phoenix Point like they did for XCOM 2. Given how story focused the game is going to be they may even do a full LP.
SBF and Game Grumps are excellent at sucking ass at a game and making you want to buy it just to do better because, let's be honest, anyone can do it better than them.
Okay Pat directly reading "gains 2 bonus XP per kill" and somehow coming to the conclusion that Ralph gains no XP is ACTUALLY one of the single stupidest things that has ever transpired on this channel.
Yes, i came to read the comment for that reason... I know playing games for a living does not mean you are good at them, but you can expect to AT LEAST get 1st grader logic down. not to mention, he just literally played as that pilot and saw him getting XP.
XP that was all gone at the pilot select screen, compared to the one that had both XP and an XP Progress Meter "that pilot doesn't get XP through multiple timelines" is reasonable when playing in rushed LP conditions I'd think
Tom Neta they don't play games for a living They are entertaining for a living Playing games for a living would be like, esports or big FGC stuff where being good at the game is the primary job
I like how every single time you guys play a roguelite it's exciting and new for you. "Alright, we just lost, but we'll go right back to that same mission. It'll probably still be unlocked. Wait, everything's different now? EHHHHH-?"
Lp Curse is hard on this episode. Like how it tells them that the enemy will attack no matter what, so pushing is advised, or that the artillery pushes out and damages in the middle.
nope, it does not, with proper strategy and positioning there are never more enemies than needed outside of some extra hard areas (which the game warns you about) its all about positioning, and knowing that your mechs can and should take damage to protect buildings or stop enemy spanws (and can repair in their own turns)
You CANNOT play this game on tilt. I've had situations where 5 or even 6 of my buildings were all being threatened at the same time, spent like 15 or 20 minutes on a single turn just trying to figure out how to solve this crisis, and managed to do it without getting any buildings damaged. You REALLY have to think in this game, especially on Hard Mode where spawn rates are significantly higher and enemies often have double HP and deal triple damage (Alpha Veks). Also, the Cryo Launcher is *insanely fun.* I've lined up some of the trickiest plays imaginable, freezing and un-freezing my own units and enemy units and using them as pushing-weapons :D Into The Breach is fantastic. Quite short compared to FTL (and much, much easier) but utterly fantastic.
pat you had literally so many setups to push monsters into other monsters to cause damage. examples: a triple at 26:42 and at 29:01 if you moved the mech to the left of the shooting bugs you could have gotten a double
That's a game that rewards exploiting gimmicks and focusing all of your resources on a few characters at the expense of others, so he probably did pretty well.
Jeedy Jay I legitimately love these guys, and was getting maybe just a little bit mildly salty reading all the comments dumping on them here (I'm not blind to misplays but come on, it's a one-off), but HOLY SHIT is that Pat described to a tee.
LPs are a 80% debuff to comprehension skills. It is a lot easier to follow what's going on when your primary goal is "play the game" and not "try to be entertaining" it's the LP Curse
When I was trying to play Evil Within 2 for the first time I was also talking to someone about a bunch of stuff that actually took a little thought and just had to give up on actually playing the game which is basically what they do for every LP except they just continue to play while not paying any attention to what they're doing.
Is this the fastest they've ever gone from start to failure? Pat is forgetting mechanics he learned literally seconds earlier...I'm getting kind of worried for him.
You could tell from his tone, Matt was not feeling this game. Reminded me of the entire Chrono Trigger LP. He was probably 5 minutes away from bringing up Scott Hall.
This is one of those games that's really good, but make you glad it's not a full LP. I don't know how much more obvious self-sabotages I could stand. Really makes you miss Liam, since he could probably actually play this right.
"Ralph doesn't gain experience" ...................BOI! Ralph gains extra experience per kill, his experience just was not display because you had gained none with him.
So while watching Pat do the wrong thing over and over, now I have to buy this game just to do it right. I'm sure that at no time I'll screw up even harder and be a fool...
Y'all remember that Turn-based Gundam Rpg game back on the original CartoonNetwork.com? This game reminds me of that so hard. Damn good game, shame theres no way to play it anymore.
I was curious about this since you mentioned it. I found this sites.google.com/site/classiccartoonnetworktv/games but I'm having some trouble running the games. Maybe my shockwave version is too new. I'll try figuring it out later.
Romancesymphony yoooo thanks man i remember running across this site. Yeah i read that our current programs are just to advanced. I managed to get the main menu up like 2 yrs ago but it always froze.
I'm pretty sure Pat or someone was holding down Space that time the bugs took an instant turn, and they also had checked "don't ask again" in relation to having remaining actions :D
Watching Pat play strategy games should be its own channel. It's absolutely fucking amazing. Never have I ever seen anyone who enjoys strategy games more but is so completely shit at them.

"H-how do I...oh. OH! I get it now, I know exactly what I'm doing, if I just oh wait no humanity is all dead."
All it's missing is Woolie's pitch for the perks of throwing in with the giant alien bugs.
And then, four months later, _Woolie_ is the one who saves humanity from the Vek, while Pat sits in the passenger seat.
There aren't enough timelines to save Pat from his performance in this video.
"Captain Patrick!" "Yes, corporal?" "WE RAN OUT OF TIMELINES!"
Speaking of XCOM 2 I hope they do a let's play for Phoenix Point like they did for XCOM 2. Given how story focused the game is going to be they may even do a full LP.
That performance was so bad I'm unsubbing from super bunnyhop
Valentin Maire good luck with that Pat probably would make it pass the 1st three missions...
Pat... just... wow. If they are trying to make me buy the game by purposely being terrible at it, its working. Oh my, is it working.
If I hadn't impulse bought it already, I'd definitely have done so after this video
I'm glad I've been seeing people say this, because I've felt it, myself.
SBF and Game Grumps are excellent at sucking ass at a game and making you want to buy it just to do better because, let's be honest, anyone can do it better than them.
That's pretty much how I felt after watching Woolie try to do basic swing techniques in that Naezith game.
working for me. i have to fix this.
I'm always mystified by them reading the tutorial out loud and then being surprised by the things they read actually happening.

XP that was all gone at the pilot select screen, compared to the one that had both XP and an XP Progress Meter
"that pilot doesn't get XP through multiple timelines" is reasonable when playing in rushed LP conditions I'd think
lol he meant he didn't keep XP whilst the time traveler did
Tom Neta they don't play games for a living
They are entertaining for a living
Playing games for a living would be like, esports or big FGC stuff where being good at the game is the primary job
"You damaged no one but yourself." I think this phrase is deeper than Matt meant it to be.
Pat wildly misunderstanding everything the game is telling him amuses me greatly.
I like how every single time you guys play a roguelite it's exciting and new for you. "Alright, we just lost, but we'll go right back to that same mission. It'll probably still be unlocked. Wait, everything's different now? EHHHHH-?"
Turns out dementia is a blessing that allows all games to be fresh and exciting.
The best friends are the best at selling games from people going, "I can do way better than these clowns!"
I can make a batter more fair game than Xcom and ITB devs, anytime.
That's literally the reason I purchased Evil Within 2 like 10 episodes in
Gotta show em how it’s done so we can feel better about ourselves.
Jokes aside this game is awesome.
You're getting triggered over pretty much nothing. Chill.
Northernlion already has a claim to that title
I'm surprised at Pat's ability to lose at a strategy game where it literally tells you your opponent's moves
It all makes more sense once you realize Pat is actually a double agent working for the bugs.
*Joke about Pat's extremely small stature here*
Lp Curse is hard on this episode. Like how it tells them that the enemy will attack no matter what, so pushing is advised, or that the artillery pushes out and damages in the middle.
In their defence, the game adds more enemies than needed. no strategy game adds more enemies unless its in ultra hard mode or something.
nope, it does not, with proper strategy and positioning there are never more enemies than needed outside of some extra hard areas (which the game warns you about)
its all about positioning, and knowing that your mechs can and should take damage to protect buildings or stop enemy spanws (and can repair in their own turns)
Why pay attention when it's easier to not?
Game: Defend this allied unit.
Pat shoots it with a tank.
"Try to be entertaining" is a -80% debuff to game skills.
The LPer curse is a constant
Holy fuck Pat lmao
Bonus objective: PROTECT ARTILLERY SUPPORT
Pat immediately kills artillery support.
Reminded me of that time Pat started Lakeview Cabin III and immediately drowned the dog.
Oh man, I'm not blaming him for not getting it right away, but it is hard to watch some of Pat's screw ups without wanting to yell 'No not there!'
nah you can blame him. it's literally just being able to read.
Turns out if you skip your turn, they get to go first.
I think he accidentally pressed spacebar
I love these guys but sometimes it hurts to watch them play
Only sometimes?
Pat does not claim to be a smart man.
32:10 Case and point.
holy shit, way to go
Man we had a lot more cases before that in this video alone
He is terrible at these types of games clearly.
Liam was the smartest of the bunch for sure, the other 3 never do seem to understand game mechanics.
Hypno-Thorax can’t absorb all that info, gotta go back, back to the past.
Hypno-Thorax who's a worst person? Woolie the jet pack race traitor or Pat the accidental race traitor?
Leave it to pat to straight up murder his own objective in cold blood
31:20 YOU WERE PRESSING THE END TURN BUTTON WHICH IS BOUND TO SPACE
fucking. idiot.
I didn't even know that existed since there's no real reason to use anything other than the mouse for this game.
Killing your own companions to deal minor damage to your opponent.
Genius.
Oh they played this one real bad.
I genuinely can't wrap my head around how bad pat is at strategizing, good lord
It means it does two damage Pat. The arrow shows that it goes back one square. It's not that hard.
(Hits Spacebar to end turn) "I didn't even get a chance to move" Good work Pat...
Oh my god he shot the artillery unit
can we get a misplay counter?
How high can you count
Just count the total number of moves and you have it.
there aren't enough hard drives in china.
blackknightq pretty sure that’s just a second counter
Number of your likes = number of misplays
What's worse, skipping the tutorials or not understanding the tutorials?
understanding tutorials and then forget basics on the first mission.
Option C: Having Pat at the wheel during a strategy game.
You CANNOT play this game on tilt.
I've had situations where 5 or even 6 of my buildings were all being threatened at the same time, spent like 15 or 20 minutes on a single turn just trying to figure out how to solve this crisis, and managed to do it without getting any buildings damaged. Into The Breach is fantastic. Quite short compared to FTL (and much, much easier) but utterly fantastic.
I should really watch what a high level player does in this game which I'm not going to find on this channel.
"Man these enemies are stupid" says the man losing to them XD
pat you had literally so many setups to push monsters into other monsters to cause damage.
examples: a triple at 26:42 and at 29:01 if you moved the mech to the left of the shooting bugs you could have gotten a double
Walruz51 Thank you, I thought I was going crazy when they didn't dominos the bugs into each other.
⭐️Defend the Artillery Unit
*kills the Artillery Unit himself*
"Okay, well, I killed one guy…" -Pat
It's alright Pat, we all kill our teammates sometimes.
You know who killed their teammates super hard?
Griffith.
I remember Pat saying that FF tactics was great... wonder how good he was playing it.
It is a lot easier to follow what's going on when your primary goal is "play the game" and not "try to be entertaining"
it's the LP Curse
When I was trying to play Evil Within 2 for the first time I was also talking to someone about a bunch of stuff that actually took a little thought and just had to give up on actually playing the game which is basically what they do for every LP except they just continue to play while not paying any attention to what they're doing.
Can't romance the mechs. 0/10
the world is not yet ready for MECH_ROMANCER: You can(not) find love
ThalChampz MECH_ROMANCER is already a thing though
It’s the second result in google search.
CEO: please stop coming into our time. You make things worse!!!
I need Woolie in this video talking about how he'd totally sell us out to the bugs for cool bug wings being grafted onto him.
On the other hand, if he joined the resistence he could pilot a mech
The most difficult predicament of Generation Woolie.
Man this filler season has been something else.
*Can't wait for SBFP Shippuden to be announced*
Formless Shot and then a new season with their sons bat, bat, boolie and biam
Cant wait for the David Cage LP
Woolie is still dead, and I think the current Lp (kotor) and next one involve him so they gotta stall.
hope their waiting for that hd collection of devil may cry games on the ps4 so thay can lp one of them.
Swagbito Uchiha Since Woolie won't do it.
Is this the fastest they've ever gone from start to failure? Pat is forgetting mechanics he learned literally seconds earlier...I'm getting kind of worried for him.
Jesus Christ Pat did Elmo give you toxoplasmosis or something?
You could tell from his tone, Matt was not feeling this game. Reminded me of the entire Chrono Trigger LP. He was probably 5 minutes away from bringing up Scott Hall.
Well, it involves strategic thinking and there aren't any tits on the screen, so it stands to reason Matt wouldn't see the appeal here.
I was just thinking today
I really hope they do a video on Into The Breach because it's so great
Jesus christ , Pat. You even played the tutorial. It -told- you.
Remember when we all thought Pat was the smarter of the two?
Love you guys but this one physically hurt to watch.
"Gets bonus +2 exp" "Oh he doesn't get experience"
Pat shoots himself in the tutorial to only push enemies despite being able to kill an enemy instead.
BEST FRIENDS QUALITY
pat has a lot to learn about this game
a LOT
like, a massive lot
Like, everything to learn.
First he sides with the scrapheads, then he fails at squishing bugs... I don't think we should let Pat near _any_ battle to save humanity.
Woolie wasn't here to abandon humanity first.
Into The Breach Filler: NOW
Front Mission LP: *NEVER*
Anything but Evolved....
FM3 is the only correct choice
But we exist in a timeline where an english patch for FM5 exists.
It's long as fuck dude, you want another KOTOR lp from these chucklefucks?
What do these have to do with eachother? Comparing Into The Breach to Front Mission is like comparing Total War Medeival to Kingdom Come Deliverence.
Crazy Talk poppin off all over this video. Pilot doesn't gain experience= Pilot actually gets +2 extra experience per kill
The music in this game is super good!
YEYEYEYEYEYEYEYE
Into the Breach is rad go play it now!
I can't wait to see Pat fail horribly at tactics.
I appreciate how much you guys love Robot Jox. It's the pride and joy of my DVD collection :)
This went *exactly* how I expected.
So is Pat better at commanding a space traveling vessel? Or a small squad?
(X-COM casts doubt on the latter)
Ooooh now I know why everyone gets mad.
This is why everyone thinks Pat gets high before recordings.
OH MY FUCKING GOD I DIDN'T WATCH THE WHOLE THING WHEN I MADE THAT COMMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one of those games that's really good, but make you glad it's not a full LP. I don't know how much more obvious self-sabotages I could stand. Really makes you miss Liam, since he could probably actually play this right.
This looks neat. Their game FTL was fun too.
I used to play Faster Than Light all the time
Fun is underrating it
I wasn't that impressed with it until it released and I got to see the game in action. It feels really good to play.
I have never been this disappointed in my life Patrick.
What was the reasoning at 25:00?
Ralph has a special that grants him +2 xp per kill... so he can't gain xp.
I broke into a giggle fit as pat went 'I killed one of them...... Oh no, that was the thing I need to protect'
Ah, the kickstart filler episodes
Quite a nice breathing room between arcs.
Kulit of 1000-ish Faces This isn't a Kickstarter game though
Limerslimer *ive been bamboozled*
Ralph: Gains +2 experience every kill
Pat: "So Ralph doesn't gain experience"
Yooooo this is a good game. Ive been playing it for 3 days and its good everybody needs to play it
Even with Spiral power, I dont think Pat has what it takes to save a fly, let alone any number of timelines XD
They really need to have a 1-off playlist because after as little as a week these videos essentially become Lost in Time
Some people just like to watch the timelines burn
Pat and Northernlion both working hard to convince people to get the game to show how much better they are.
Pat playing Tactical games is always a treat.
I’d try to keep one pilot alive through every timeline and name them Homura.
you can do that, just remember to get the other pilots killed first before abandoning a timeline
Thank you, but boy was that joke for the smallest audience ever. Madoka Magica
"Ralph doesn't gain experience" ...................BOI!
Ralph gains extra experience per kill, his experience just was not display because you had gained none with him.
Watching Pat play strategy games should be used as a form of government torture. The game looks really fun, though!
"...choose Raplh because his cat's breath smells like cat food." I love that.
Mouses over pilot, which says "Gains extra 2 xp per kill." "Ralph doesn't gain experience, but Myra does."
So while watching Pat do the wrong thing over and over, now I have to buy this game just to do it right.
I'm sure that at no time I'll screw up even harder and be a fool...
As a man who enjoys these types of games, this particular video upsets me far more than usual.
@19:16 Pat learns how to play the game just now kinda (he still makes the wrong play however he now understands how the artilleries works)
"Okay well I killed one guy,"
-Pat, immediately after killing the truck he was supposed to protect
Two full playthroughs in one episode!
"Okay, I killed one guy." 32:00
. . . This just makes me think of how many times Ashley died in the RE4 playthrough.
They were so bad at Xcom 2... oh god.
Humanity is soo fucked...
Trouble is Pat's playing it like a strategy game, when it is really an elaborate puzzle game.
Man trying to learn a game is hard when they give you a tutorial that tells you everything you need to learn.
Pat's inability to understand the mechanichs is astounding.
Gosh. The cascading failure is almost like that X-COM 2 Ironman run.
In FTL, "99.9% of all games end in a loss"
No Pat, that's just you.
Y'all remember that Turn-based Gundam Rpg game back on the original CartoonNetwork.com? This game reminds me of that so hard. Damn good game, shame theres no way to play it anymore.
I was curious about this since you mentioned it. I found this
sites.google.com/site/classiccartoonnetworktv/games
but I'm having some trouble running the games. Maybe my shockwave version is too new. I'll try figuring it out later.
Romancesymphony yoooo thanks man i remember running across this site. Yeah i read that our current programs are just to advanced. I managed to get the main menu up like 2 yrs ago but it always froze.
Never thought understanding hp bars and damage numbers could be so hard for someone who plays video games for a living
Reminds me.....OF FRONT MISSION
MECHAWEEK 3 WHEN
AfroMetalMizu Hopefully next month when a certain game comes out.
Ghost5410 WUT
AfroMetalMizu ruclips.net/video/EfM9otjBSII/видео.html
Ghost5410 meh. I liked the animu - 90s aesthetic of Front Mission 3 better ;u
what game you refer to?
I'm pretty sure Pat or someone was holding down Space that time the bugs took an instant turn, and they also had checked "don't ask again" in relation to having remaining actions :D
“I’ve never gotten a perfect win.”
Uh, did you forget about the first mission you had, post time travel, Pat?
Watching Pat play strategy games should be its own channel. It's absolutely fucking amazing. Never have I ever seen anyone who enjoys strategy games more but is so completely shit at them.
I heard about this game from Rich Evans in Previously Recorded. Let's hop it's good.
Also, Pacific Rim Uprising without Guillermo del Toro is just gonna be dumb action schlock.
The trailer looks cheesy as shit.
It looks almost identical to the new Independence Day movie, honestly
Maaan, I hadn't seen the trailer until a few days ago and it looked just ok, but knowing del Toro isn't part of it is a bummer. Guess I'll just wait for it on dvd.
Need this to be a full series
I am terrible at strategy games, but even I found myself muttering "No! Don't Click there! Do it like that!" :D
I have been playing Into the Breach for 28 hours and I am going to keep playing. Might even paint some fanart.
I'm patiently waiting for the next LPs
What happened at 31:21 ?
Was that a bug (no pun intended) or did Pat hit space and disabled the confirmation dialogue?
I'm here like "It's fiiiiine. It's his first time.", and then he tries again, now with knowledge, and does even worst.
