Great video Lewis, hell of a job. Lucky to have a legend and car ramps available 😂👍
Thanks very much! Yeah very lucky indeed 😂
Good ole dad
Great video! Was a good watch on such an involved job, very informative!
That's a relief to hear thank you!
Think my clutch springs are rattling on mine too, getting a rattle at low revs, pretty sure it's from the clutch
Worth checking it out mate
The injen induction kit!! What a swine of a job!! Great work as always pal 🤘🏻❤️
I think you've got the wrong part in your head mate 😂😂😂. Thank you anyway guys 😊
@@FNLEW I’m confused now lol
@@FNLEW I’m confused now lol I mean you asked what took longer than you expected etc etc. That was the answer lol
@@CowabungaCarDiaries oh god I forgot about the question! 😂🤦🏻♂️ Sorry mate I get what's going on now 😅
@@FNLEW LEGEND! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi lewis . I enjoyed helping but I need more rides to pay me back .... Bring on croft :-)
Haha don't worry you will 😂
Thanks mate
I would like to know how to bleed the electronic clutch on the Honda Civic fn2 2006
Just had new clutch kit put in. New oil. Still feels bit clunky going into gear. Not just 3rd. Clutch us nice and smooth just nit happybwith gear changes still. Any ideas would be very appreciated
Lovely Job boss, not like the fn2 jobs to be difficult 😂😂🙈🙈
Cheers mate. Oh yeah never 😂
Nice one Lew, I did that job on my 2.2 Civic on my drive. Was a git to do, never again. Garage will be getting paid to do it at they have access to a ramp.
Wow that sounds horrendous! I don't blame you mate.
You’ve just saved me. Been staring at that top starter bolt thinking how the fuck am I getting on that 🤣
It's horrible from the top 😂
How did you get to the bolt that connects engine to transmission that is inside the front engine mount to the cross-member (near the starter motor)? Did you remove the radiator and all?? I can't see how I could possibly undo those wacking big nuts without better access...
Great vid mate, any chance you adjusted the biting point yet? i found the forum post walk through photos, but am still scared to do it without watching a video!
Thank you mate. To be fair I've been on track with the car since then and I'm in no rush to adjust the biting point anyway. With it now all selecting gears better than ever I'm just happy with how it is.
@@FNLEW I guess a new clutch will do that for ya! nw dude, enjoy the smooth shifting. Think I'll just get hold of a long spanner and take the risk.
Cheers matey. Just think, you can always tighten it back up 😂
@@FNLEW true that 😂
Nice video dude. Do u have a link for the genuine release bearing at all? My clutch need doing soon and need one. Thanks
Thank you mate. Yes I've put it in the description now for you 👍🏻
@@FNLEW thanks mate!
Since changing it has your bite changed ?
I'd say it's not got higher but a lot easier to engage.
I just put in yhe exedy clutch kit, there is rattling when reaching the biting point, would that be from the noisy bearing you mentioned?
@@ataurmonnaf1616 quite possibly mate unfortunately
Hi lew. How did you find the exedy clutch. Mine needs doing and i see mixed reviews online. I can get it for half the price if the genuine honda one. Many thanks
It's been absolutely fine for me mate. Just get a genuine honda release bearing instead of the one that comes with it and you'll be fine.
Thank you for your quick response 🙏
Did u find your biting point got lower or higher the more worn the clutch was getting?
I'd say it got lower the more worn it was but it didn't raise that much with the new one. Just got easier to engage.
You said on the video not to undo the suspension to swing out the hub to remove the drive shaft as it ruins alignment. How SHOULD this have been done? 👍
It's something to do with either where the hub meets the lower arm or where the arm pivots from the chassis. Either way it's NOT where the shock is bolted to the hub.
The ball joint where the lower control arm connects to the bottom of the strut.Take out the pin, undo the nut and bash the ball joint housing until it pops apart. See this video ruclips.net/video/4VAx_CXQGeM/видео.html
Can I come to your garage?? My 1.4 needs a new clutch, and some suspension bits. You far from London??
Sorry this isn't a garage mate. It's the dealership my dad works for.
does the type r clutch kit fit onto the r18a2
Its need to put engine down? I think about space to take out gearbox.
If changing just clutch then don't need to drop engine.
Jesus that clutch has took some abuse in its life what have you been doing with it 😂
Grinding third on a daily basis 🙂
My clutch pedal can be firm and all gears are a little more notchy than I'd like.....I'm thinking clutch too. I'm not getting any crunchy gears or any gear that is worse than any other, just too notchy in all gears and clutch pedal feel is not great....maybe time for clutch myself? 101k on the clock, I've done trans oil. Also did your clutch kit come with an alignment spline? Did you have to pre load the new clutch? Or was it just a case of take out old one - put new one on and fit everything back in reverse?
I'd have started with the gearbox oil aswell. It didn't come with an alignment spline but my dad just used his fingers to feel around the edged. No preload aswell. Another cheaper thing to try is maybe look at changing your clutch fluid but that's probably too easy a fix.
@@FNLEW done the clutch fluid, although I may bleed again, changed slave cylinder, master cylinder (it was creaking anyway) So I think maybe it's the beginning of a tired clutch. Thanks for the video 👍
@@richardd8352sounds like you've covered all bases then. No problem at all 👍🏻
Did you have to take the front engine mount off to seperate the gearbox - I can't see a way of avoiding it on my FN2.. How many bolts hold the box to the motor? That starter motor one is a B*
Don't think the front engine mount came off for this. I couldn't say the number of bolts specifically. Wish I could have filmed more in-depth but was such a big job in such a small time period.
Did you solve this Edmund?? I have the car out front in bits and can't work out how to do it...
@@HughCStevenson1 Yes I did.. The front round crossmember and the engine mount have to come off (engine supported on something obviously). I can't remember how many bolts thee are - IIRC there are bolts from each side. I had to do it again when the starter motor packed up - it was easier the second time when you know what to do!
Confused why you took off the whole gearbox to change the clutch.. usually enough space in a honda engine bay to loosen and push the gearbox aside with enough room to change the clutch kit
Definitely not possible in this model. The gearbox is pretty much supported by the engine so once you septate it to replace the clutch it's supported by nothing at all whilst the process is taking place.
@@FNLEW ah I see.. that's annoying then
Yeah pretty annoying but there's less room the newer cars get I suppose.
Have you done the clutch damper bypass Lew?
I haven't yet mate. Something to do for sure 👍🏻
@@FNLEW Noticed you had adjusted your biting point, or at least attempted to. Wondered if that was because the biting point was at the floor? The bypass can fix this apparently.
@@brianmcintyre14 it was for that reason yes mate but I just got used to it and it wasn't as bad after a fresh clutch.
Hi, what was the mileage of the car when clutch was replaced?
Nearly 120k but don't know when it was replaced previously if it was.
What the part number clutch exedy ?
Sorry I don't know the part number.
