I recorded everyone of these shows on VCR and unfortunately the tapes all deteriorated. So sad he’s gone. We need his wisdom and direction in these turbulent times. God bless you Rush; he deserved the highest civilian honor!
Hi Commentary seems targeted at current events. If you listen carefully, most of what he says is actually timeless. I plan on continuing to listen to Rush on these recordings for years to come.
I remember watching this show, but it was delayed til the following morning in the Detroit market. This man will be remembered as one of the greatest broadcasters of all time hands down.
I know I run the danger of "recent bias," as it hasn't been that long ago that he died. And I will say this- there have been times when he has made me shake my head (although I don't hold that against him; who of us hasn't done or said something that made their loved ones wonder what was happening?). However, I can't help but think that this man's wisdom may be more timeless than we think. He ended up being right more often than we likely gave him credit for being. And he did so in a very winsome and happy manner, for the most part. I hope to see him again. RIP Mr. Limbaugh.
I have three quality radios in three different rooms in my somewhat small house, mainly because of Rush. Those radios haven't been on since about noon cst, 2/17. Dad listened to him everyday from '88 til dad passed in 11/05. Dad turned me on to him. Rush was like family.
I caught the very first episode accidentally one night. I had never heard of Rush Limbaugh, but everything he was saying was right in line with my thought process and belief system. He was criticized for all of the things he was saying back then, like speaking in support of family values and the sanctity of human life. I think a lot of us see now that “Rush is Right” has proven to be so true. Look where we are now. Godspeed Rush Limbaugh! You built the foundation that created a platform for conservatives to be heard!
@@bm421 well, that wasn’t the case in 2016. The tide went out in 2020. The water is high on their shores currently. It never lasts for either side. You just have to wait your turn and hope the other side doesn’t cause too much harm while you wait. If they cause enough harm, we only have to wait until the midterms in 2022 for the tide to flow back.
I never missed an episode. If I wasn't home, I set my VCR to record it. I even referenced it for my college English composition class. I wrote an argument against doctor-assisted suicide. The instructor was a left-over 60s liberal. She gave me an 'A' for the essay and for a final grade. I began listening to Rush in 1988 just before he went national. Thanks Rush!
I used to be a staunch Democrat. And I was pretty typical as a Democrat. I believed the Democrat party was the party of the regular people, the working man. And I believed the Republican party was the party of big business, the rich, and the elites (it's pretty much the opposite of reality). As a young Democrat, I caught this show every now and then. And as a typical Democrat, I didn't listen to anything Rush had to say because he was a Republican and it had to be wrong. I didn't try to critically evaluate what he was saying; I just rejected it as lies and nonsense. That's what you call "closed-mindedness", rejecting all other opinions but your own-the literal definition of bigotry. That's they way Democrats think. They don't want to hear any other opinion. That's why they shout down and disrupt any non-liberal speakers whenever they get a chance. And they don't want YOU to hear any opinions except theirs. And when they can't silence their opposition, they attach the usual labels to it: hateful, racist, sexist, etc. But they'll never, ever explain to you WHY the message deserves the labels they attached to it. The Left does not tolerate being challenged, questioned, or doubted. They're elitists: they know better than you, and you're supposed to accept what they have to say. Period. Obviously I did open my eyes, ears, and mind, and saw the Left and what they represent as they really are: elitists who live in fear of freedom who peddle fear so they can take their "rightful" position as the ruling class.
I started listening to Rush in 1988. The car I was driving at the time had only AM radio. Rush was fantastic! I often disagreed with the mainstream news, and when Rush came on, I thought "Yes! Now THAT is what I agree with!" I was delighted when he started this TV show. RIP, Rush.
I started watching Rush Limbaugh when he had the TV show and then I started to listen to him on the radio when I did my FedEx route he will be missed that's for sure. He used to crack me up when he said something about black Caucasians I thought that was hilarious
Damned cigars (though a friend of mine acted like he knew Rush was hitting cigarettes, too). I thought Rush would broadcast until he was early '80s, then retire for awhile. Ominous that he was hit with that shocking diagnosis and died one year later, given times we live in now (Marxist coup, with Marxist superstate watching us from other side of Pacific.)
He hadn't smoked in years. Risk should have been essentially no higher than anyone else by a decade out. We breathe in tons of crap just living life, so lung cancer can just happen sometimes. It could have been linked to the smoking, sure, but having read into the research of this stuff over the years, I'd give it 20% that tobacco caused it, 80% that it was caused by other trace corrosive compounds/particles in the air...... It's just been to long....it's been thought to be zero increased chance after 10 years of quitting, but I'm skeptical of that, which is where my 20% comes from Anyway. Just want to throw that out there.
@@ChadDidNothingWrong As someone who never drank or smoked and still got cancer at 23, I can attest to the fact that cancer can just happen. Ask the kids who get it.
He reminds me a little bit of Joe Bob Briggs, his wit. But he reminds me a lot Greg Gutfeld. Greg's show is great. Rush gave a more personal approach though.
Growing up in Louisiana, my parents being blind voting Democrats hated this show, but I love it knowing that they hated it made it all the more better.

Same here in the Richmond VA market. Except they would run it at 11:00 am - 11:30 am just before his radio show.

I loved this show! RIP Rush
Not the man we deserved, but the one we needed. Were it not for Rush the Clinton years would have been much worse.
Fast forward to 2022 - Biden: "The economy isn't as bad as people think!"
I miss you. 🇨🇦

My parents aren't totally blind to it, but they definitely never liked Rush. I am baffled at how easily swayed they are by the media though.

Sigh. It is the fate of all life forms to ultimately assume room temperature.
Any one know the name of the theme song used in the intro?
Rush limbaugh sucked and he was overrated whether he was on tv or on radio
I hated this show when it was on. Had no idea what i was missing. Still has the same stuff going on today.
