  • Probably a contentious subject as everyones riding area can be different. This is based on my local riding in all conditions, all year round. so that means very wet, muddy with very occasional dusty bits plus the inevitable tarmac roads.

    Great review. I used the Pirelli cinturato gravel m 650b 50mm yesterday for nearly 30 miles around Hathersage and the Hope Valley. Gravel, road and mud lots of mud and they were brilliant. Also like the Teravail Cannonball once it starts to warm up or dry out.

      Another vote for Pirelli Gravel Ms. Cracking tyre, rolls well, grips well. Good puncture protection with the deep tread.

      Ditto... similar tree pattern to the Resolutes of course. I sometimes prefer H on the back... IF it's mud free.

      Yep, the Cinturato Gravel M's are my go to in the North York Moors where you can expect road, perfect gravel, rocky trails, slop and slippy grass all in a short ride.

    I was running the Rene Hearse 42mm knobby tire, very similar to the resolute. Great all around tire, good cornering on gravel roads! I do a lot of pavement to and from the gravel, so I’m switching to sworks pathfinder pros this year. I’ll still have the RH tires for the rugged trails. Thanks for the video and your thoughts on the new year!

    Yeah, you found the same free music as me 🤘🤘🤘I like a Schwable Land cruiser for mixed, but I'm a 26" rider. I suppose every tire has its limit at some point, but that's when the fun starts 😂

    The happy feeling when you find your favourite tire. For winter ,muddy/rainy conditions on all kind of terrain in Flanders fields and beyond my go to tires are the Schwalbe G-one Ultrabite 👌

    As can be expected - thanks for another informative and entertaining review G! 100% agree and aligns with our experience of WTB's Resolute - the all-round all-rounder.... (Q. how did you get that shot from under the front wheel - ferret cam?)

    Great honest review.... Informative... Ive allways debated WTB tyres... But sure i read somewhere they have thin sidewalls for weight reduction and prone to tearing on sharp stuff on the trails... Any such incidents?... #gottabecheese 👊

    Running some 700c Resolutes (SG2 version, no tan walls here😞) this winter with full length mudguards on my Marin Gestalt X10. Like you say, they do make a great all rounder. Perfectly happy with them on atrocious back roads as well as hitting the mud and even some nice gravel.

      I think the non tan wall have a thicker sidewall too so should be better in flinty, slate trails. Non of that where I live so can get away with the tan wall

    Nice video. Im running Resolute 42C on my Trek Checkpoint. But I find them quite slow & sluggish on the paved roads. Sadly my 'gravel' rides are still 2/3rds paved. I guess it is good training for when spring arrives 🤨.

      My first gravel bike was a checkpoint, great bikes! Yea, as stated jack of all trades, master of none but acceptable on road for me, I don't go anywhere fast! 🤣

    Great video as always. I have looked at the Resolutes as a 'fit and forget' tyre. However, I live in London and most of my riding is on terrible roads and canal paths. Any suggestions?

    • @ukgravelco
      @ukgravelco  9 месяцев назад +1

      Oh they definitely need to be set up tubeless. The ones in the video have been on 3 months through all the hedge cutting season around here, no punctures I've noticed. We'll see how many thorns there are in when I change them. An old pair of resolutes I took off had 5 thorns in the front and seven in the back! Didn't even notice any sealant coming out! Just think, that's 12 potential stops to change or fix a tube 😳

    Loved mine when they stayed inflated but they weeped sealant from the sidewalls all too easily.
    Did anyone else have this problem?
    I assume SG2 might be better. Is this available with tan walls yet?

    • @TheShaunBallUK
      @TheShaunBallUK 9 месяцев назад

      SG2 is black only I'm afraid.
      I was having problems seating new SG2 Resolutes back in November, so ran them with tubes for a bit. Can't comment on weeping though as I'm still running tubed! I'm lazy and they've not punctured yet! 😂
