The minute i saw the thumbnail i feel quite appreciated. I’m not a huge Jayfeather fan, and I’m a huge Hollyleaf/Juniperclaw/Ivypool. I love different opinions and debeating is my favorite past-time. It’s just nobody wants to listen to each others opinions. I would love to hear why YOU like Jayfeather,thats cool! Intresting! I don’t hate people who like Jayfeather. It’s just- Whenever I share my pov of jayfeather just for fun, everyone doesn’t listen. We don’t have a fun and valid conversation about our different views, opinions etc. It feels people who reply to my opinion don’t care and just (at this point) yell at me about things not even related to our conversation. It’s a bit annoying.
i 100% agree! wc fans (and fans of pretty much everything tbh) dont seem to understand that opinions are just opinions, someone may love or hate your favorite or least favorite cat, and that's fine! i love hearing peoples opinions on characters, especially when theyre different from my own, it helps me have a wider perspective and sometimes may persuade me to like/dislike the character more :))
@@cyber69420 same, I think the only character you can’t change my mind about is spottedleaf spoilers below: I’m mixed on her, for TPB and TNP (plus POT) she was so hate able and I hate how firestar fawns over her until fire stars quest, it’s not even cute and I can’t find anything to like about her until OOTS where she’s ok, not good, just okay. And I feel like the Erin’s made spottedleaf heart to make it seems she doesn’t know it’s not okay to like firepaw?.. I adore the concept of a medicine cat trying to break the generational trauma and taking care of firepaw in a familial way, but noo she had to be in love with firepaw for NO reason, why couldn’t we have a grooming survivor trying to protect others, I will forever have a grudge against the Erin’s for ruining spottedleaf and thistleclaw.
I love hearing people's different views on characters, there's so many reasons to hate or love a character, you might love a character because their evil or might hate them for the same reason. Personally, i do love the flawed characters, but I also highly appreciate more "perfect" characters like firestar!!
As somebody who loves Brambleclaw for sentimental reasons, this is so relatable. I love him for reasons outside of his relationship drama, but it’s so hard to say that. Also people say I’m “inconsistent” for liking him and Squirrelflight at the same time. I just started reading at TNP and these characters mean a lot to me.
I agree on that and the fact that they decided to turn him into an a hole in squirrelflight’s book completely destroyed me because I had a lot of esteem for him and this decision ripped off my soul as a reader
So real, I like both characters because they're both more than just their relationship. (I like their characteristics/lineage backstories so much.) I know the Erins love introducing pointless drama when more interesting issues are going on in the background, but I hate how they keep recycling their relationship issues over and over again.
OMG I feel seen. I'm exactly the same. I like, no, LOVE both him and Squirrelflight but hate them as a couple. Take away the drama of their abusive relationship, and they're both amazing in their own right!

If you go back in the series, he was still snappy with her and mean, and it got worse as the books went on. Don’t forget Bramblestar’s Storm where he about cheated on her with Jessy aha. He was a bad mate way before that. They broke up so many times.
I agree 100%! I’m a huge Mapleshade fan, but I understand that some people dislike her and their reasonings for doing so. If only everyone took your advice, we’d have a lot more silly debates then offense ones!
I'll be honest, I like the *character* of Mapleshade. She was rude, rash, and often puts blame on near innocent cats. It's an awesome set up for a villain! What I don't like is when some fans (not all) think that cats like Ravenwing (who was doing his job) and Reedshine (who... was being cheated on? Yeah, I don't understand the Reedshine hate) deserve the Dark Forest. I think it's poetic that the cats Mapleshade villainized and killed in her rage went to Starclan with her kits, and she went to the Dark Forest, proving that her vengeance didn't solve anything.
I’m on the opposite side here, I hate Mapleshade with a passion, but I never have hated Mapleshade fans (Mapleshade apologists are another story). I’m friends with Mapleshade haters but I’m also friends with Mapleshade fans, I understand why people like her. I might actually even like her if everyone didn’t try to justify all her actions, even as an Appledusk fan, I want to like her, but people her love her so much and want everyone else to love her, literally make me hate her. Even when talking to Mapleshade apologists, I try to be nice, and remind myself that they are humans, and it’s not worth losing sleep over, I think I may have been insulting at one point but I’ve strayed away from that and just pretend they are talking about a different villain.
I agree too - I feel a little frustrated that there are people who pick fights with people who like Mapleshade (and vice-versa). It is important to remember that the person on the other side of the screen is a human at the end of the day. I like Appledusk for example, and have my reasons for doing so, but if someone else dislikes him? Perfectly fine! Mapleshade too, she's an interesting character - but I admittedly find her overrated
When I saw how much stuff you mentioned on why opinions and debates began to fall flat, I instantly got flashbacks to the Brambleclaw, Ashfur, and Squirrelflight drama. Not the current "Bramblestar is abusive" debacle, but all the way back to when the love triangle started. God I remember it like it was yesterday. - Squirrelflight getting called some nasty names by Ashfur fans for "leading him on" (even though she only considered him when she and Brambleclaw were having a spat, and broke up after like 2 weeks). - People creating their own headcanons for Ashfur prior to his insanity and then declaring them canon. - The bashing of Brambleclaw's actions in Power of Three (justified and unjustified) as reasons Ashfur would be better. It was a dumpster fire sharing your opinions back during the Power of Three arc in particular. Especially relating to all the drama going on without the context of Leafpool's Wish. So this video was... something I really needed to watch to reflect on myself and get some catharsis.

All the Ashfur defenders from back in the day were the worst. So many ideas about who Squirrelflight or Brambleclaw are were created out of thin air, with no evidence from the book whatsoever. Nearly ten years later, and I'm still a bit salty about one particular Ashfur apologist that I argued with lol.

Jayfeather is okay to me, and I agree. I like him, but sometimes dislike some of the things he did. He just isn’t my favorite, because of his attitude. Also random opinion, I kinda dislike Leafpool. (At the time I’m writing this I’m at the beginning of outcast POT book 3 so please don’t bring up things I don’t know yet if you debate with me!) My reasons for disliking her is how rude she gets to Jayfeather. But I do like her before POT.
My unpopular opinions/hot takes: -All the first arc queens deserve way more love and attention than they got [especially Willowpelt and Goldenflower] -A she-cat you think is a girlboss having kids doesn’t make her weak or boring. What makes her boring is lazy characterization after she’s out of the spotlight. Being a mother is one of the hardest jobs there is and the weird hating on gentle, nurturing women who choose to help raise and support the next generation has got to stop. [looking at you, Ferncloud haters] -People like to single out Clear Sky in the DOTC cast [which is fair because he’s a jerk] but iirc most of the settlers were in some way complicit in taking over the forest and then forcing the people who already lived there to share with them and killing people for ‘trespassing’ on land that was theirs like a month before -The Clans operate in a very tokenism-esque way when it comes to rogue relations. They only really let in outsiders if they offer some upfront benefit [see Firestar] and go back to being awful and racist 1 arc later under a kittypet leader... -If the Erins aren’t trying to set up corrupt, elitist StarClan then I really don’t know what they think they’re doing -There should be more Clan cat and rogue forbidden romances [to make things at least a little different] or a rogue protagonist who stays a rogue -As much as people call Darkstripe a Tigerstar simp, he’s as much a victim as Tigerstar was to Thistleclaw. He’s Tigerstar’s apprentice, shipping them is weird. -The series is bizarrely anti-adoption for how many parents it pointlessly kills off/makes unavailable [see Squirrelflight and kits and Gray Wing and Thunder]
this!! Bramblestar is genuinely one of my favorite characters, and I get why people don’t like him. But the thing is, I love Bramblestar as a CHARACTER. he’s wonderfully written and I think especially what he’s going through after TBC arc is so interesting. I like him a lot, and although I think he’s a bad mate to Squilf (even though I’m not a huge fan of squilf in general), I like him as a character. he’s interesting.
I’m literally doing a debate speech in my class currently and as someone who is INCREDIBLY good at debating I love seeing people argue about their opinion, it’s always entertaining because people are so stupidly protective over their favorite characters.
Very well said! My favorite is Needletail. I don’t agree with a lot of things she did but I thought she had the best character development and what she did had a motive one way or another. She had so much improvement in the end, and turned from a rebellious teenager into a responsible older sister figure for Violetshine. I love her.
7:59 NEVER BRING THAT UP IN THE FANDOM!! I came into a conversation about how Bluestar is ableist because of her naming Brightpaw/heart Lostface. The Erins specifically said that this was to show her insanity at that time, personally I didn’t like that she named Brightpaw/heart Lostface but I also love it cause it truly shows how far her insanity and paranoia went. It just gives so much more to her character.
yeah I don't really think the Blustar is ableist cause like... she was struggling with mental illness. she was going insane. she was doing bad things becuase she had lost her faith in starclan and believed they were evil. she named her that becuase she thought starclan was punishing her, she wasn't thinking about how it affected brightheart, she was thinking about how starclan was punishing them, becuase she was mentally not stable. i think people just misinterpret her actions as ableist becuase they think her reason for naming her lostface was BECUASE of her face, but it really wasn't... i mean, if i remember right, she wasn't even making them warriors at the time they were ready becuase she was unwell... so she was already treating them poorly before that sorry if that came off a little strong, I just really like Bluestar and can see myself in her due to struggling with mental health.
Bluestar and Brightheart are my 2 favorite cats, which may seem like a contradiction, but I like them for very different reasons. I love Bluestar BECAUSE she's morally gray and we can see her struggle with her mental health, which I relate to. I love Brightheart because she's strong in the face of adversity and stays optimistic throughout it all. I relate to Bluestar, I aspire to be more like Brightheart. And I think that's okay! And to any Brightheart fans who hate Bluestar, you are completely valid for feeling that way. The way Bluestar treated her was NOT okay and it will NEVER be okay! But liking flawed characters or villains is also okay!
I am a Gray Wing fan as I sorta related to his journey (minus the mate stuff) when I first read the DotC arc. The first time I read the arc, my family and I moved from the area I was born and into a more rural place. At first, I hated it. A bit like how Gray Wing didn't want to leave the mountains at first, I didn't want to leave my old home. However, a few months passed as I reread the warrior series, I realized I didn't finish the dotc and picked it up again. I guess I sorta clicked with Gray Wing and his actions to make the moor his home. How he went from not wanting to leave, to leaving because his brother ran from home, to finally settling in to the forest territories and becoming a rather great leader. Is he a perfect cat, no absolutely not. I don't like how he just let's his brother do whatever he wanted, and the fact he still tried to save Clear Sky during a fire, only to lose his adopted kit and get into even more fights and quarrels with ancient SkyClan was insane. But, who in this world is perfect? Gray Wing will always have a place in my heart, as my favorite warrior, and as a sort of character who reminds me that even if life doesn't turn out how you plan it, we can all adapt. (And I'm going to need that lesson again as we are moving back to where I grew up, and I'd be lying if I said I was excited about this. I've grown accustomed to my forest life and really don't want to move, but I will adapt just as Gray Wing did) Sorry a little rambling myself, maybe I should make my own videos on why I like characters. Get a conversation going on my own channel or something one day.
MapleShade will always hold a special place in my heart as the first Warrior Cat I was ever exposed to. I love how complicated of a character she is but also agree her character has been milked to the point that maybe she should’ve died in the Great Battle or at least in Broken Code. Honestly the only thing I don’t like of calling myself a MapleShade fan openly is because I don’t like being associated with the people who will take her word at face value and endlessly defend her actions. I believe she wasn’t in the right state of mind at the time but she still shouldn’t have made her kits cross the river, especially not in a storm. I agree that it was FreckleWish who originally started the rumor that BirchFace was her kits’ father but she still shouldn’t have played into it, and I will also always say FreckleWish doesn’t deserve the Dark Forest. MapleShade is manipulative and I love her for that, even in my AU where she’s technically reformed she’s still manipulative as she makes up a narrative where AppleDusk assaulted her.
I personally don't like Mapleshade so much. She was an amazing villain and I'm all for it but.. it's just some Mapleshade fans kind of ruined liking her? It's hard to explain, but it feels like I'm being pressured into liking her. I hate being pressured. And yes, these are the fans that say Frecklewish or Ravenwing deserved to go to the dark forest. Also sometimes make up things in which, didn't happen. (Which I totally disagree with!) Some people even say "well she was driven by grief" She was a horrible cat from the beginning, thinking she was above the rules, shifting blame onto other cats, etc... That is a great villain! As I said, I'm all for it. It's just the fact some Mapleshade fans seem to forget that and say "It was just grief." I am friends with Mapleshade fans, but not the ones who pressure me into liking her. Overall, she's an alright character, I just don't like being pressured into liking a character. I don't hate Mapleshade, it's her fans for me.

This is actually quite true. My favorite cat is Jayfeather, he's my top favorite cat, but I do have to say I don't like some of the actions he did just because he was in a bad mood. He's definitely a cat who is pretty snappy, and he doesn't think carefully before going something(Judging by the books where he first became a medicine cat). But yet he Is still my favorite cat. Same thing with Bluestar, she was a fantastic leader but by the time she understood Tigerstar was evil she became very very depressed, to the point she didn't even care if she hurt a cats feelings by calling them "Lostface". That was the most uncool thing she did, she basically mocked Brightheart by naming her that all because she was depressed and lost faith in Starclan. But yet, I still have to say I believe she was still a good leader. So in conclusion, this video is very correct. We can still favorite a character while also not liking some actions they did. I mean, I believe Bramblestar has his flaws, such as being abusive to Squirrelflight, but he did save Firestars life and he's there to help and defend his clan as leader. For that, I at least respect him. But at the same time, these are cats lol cats in real life literally act like this, don't forget that cats aren't like humans, for cats males are supposed to be dominant over females and the female cat will experience pain while experiencing that in some sort of way. But again, this is my opinion and people will disagree with me and be like "Well Bramblestar still sucks for acting like this, who cares if he's a cat?".
Exactly! I like both Bramblestar and Squirrelflight, but I don’t justify either of their actions.I look at both character’s decisions before leaping to their defence. I usually go for an INTERESTING plot, even if they’re a murderer. And no, it doesn’t mean I like them, but because I value the amount of drama they stirred up- what would a book series be without that? I wouldn’t go publicly ATTACKING someone online, just because they dislike a character I absolutely adore.Anyone who does that has no more sense than a small child.
THIS, especially about Bramble!! I’ve personally always been a Bramble fan, but I absolutely will not defend his abusive actions towards Squilf. At the same time, while I don’t like Squirrel as much as Bramble (I do love her though!!), I’m absolutely on her side with the Bramble vs Squirrel argument. Not everything is black and white, especially with cat books!!

MapleShade is my second favorite cat(to ravenpaw) and I don't think any of what she did was okay, I also dislike AppleDusk, not because I have to, I just do. But I'm still able to have a civil conversation with someone who hates MapleShade and loves AppleDusk without trying to change their mind about the characters, it's okay to just talk about warriors and not fight all the time and a cat doesn't have to be good for you to like them! This video makes an awesome point on that!
This is a great video for really any fandom on the internet consisting of younger people. I wish I had better roll models in my internet communities as a kid. There were some VERY sketchy people in the Warriors community back then and I suppose there still are, but you, Moonkitti, and Sunnyfall stick out as the big Warrior accounts anymore and it is so nice seeing how you all handle the subjects with kids in mind because they're books for kids. So thank you for this!! I wish I had seen it when I was younger getting into internet debates. I also think some adults I know need to see it!
It is actually HEAVILY implied, and almost outright stated, at the end of chapter 39 in Bluestar’s Prophecy that he was going to pick Thistleclaw over Bluestar because she had/was going to have kits. The except you picked in the video is from AFTER the kits were gone and he was offering the position. On page 462, verbatim, he says “you will be a wonderful mother, an asset to the Clan. I had hoped one day you’d follow in my footsteps, but StarClan seems to have a different path for you. Fortunately, there’s another who may be able to lead this Clan one day.” I agree with the rest of your video and that not everyone has to like or have the same opinion on Bluestar, but the quote you picked is misleading.
Yes! I don’t like spottedleaf as a cat because I think she’s manipulative and creepy, but I do think her story is interesting. Being groomed by a cat, then continuing that act on to firestar is very interesting.
I'm on the 3rd series, 1st book but I don't think Spotted'Leaf necessarily "groomed" Firestar. Keep in mind they have a 5 year age gap, which for cats, isn't that big. In fact, their aging is way different than humans. A reason why kits develop quickly. And she sent prophecies to Firestar but never did any romantic acts I think. Also who did she get groomed by??? (Sorry I don't know full lore, again, on the 3rd series, 1st book.)
I wonder how different the books would have been if they kept HollyLeaf as a med cat and Jayfeather as a warriror. Would Holly still have killed Ashfur? Would Jayfeather be a different type of warrior? That's why I love those two, there's so many "what ifs" when it comes to their arcs, its very fascinating to think about and opens the door to so many AU's and fanfics. And then there's Lionblaze, he's...the strong one
I’m sure hollyleaf still would’ve killed him, whether or not she’s a medicine cats still a warrior code, religious fanatic. She’d still be afraid to be outcasted, which ultimately led to her killing him the first place. Having hollyleaf as a medicine cat would’ve been so interesting, missed opportunity there warriors. She would’ve had a much closer relationship with Leafpool, which can either end with her being more forgiving, or actually going through with killing Leafpool without jay to stop her. (He would’ve had no business in the medicine den with role swaps)

She could fake a sign from starclan to justify herself killing Ashfur… it’s all so great man. A warrior Jayfeather would’ve been interesting, and less demoralizing than we have now is great too. There’s so many possibilities with this swap.

OR she could attack Ashfur, kill him, and claim HE attacked HER and she's accidentally killed him in self defense, because who would believe that a medicine cat would just randomly kill a clanmate "unprovoked" and since everyone believes she was Squirrelflight's kit and Ashfur had always shown jealously and resentment towards her and her family it would make sense to them, especially if she, Jay, Lion, and Squirrel explained to the clan what Ashfur did during the fire. The secret is kept, everyone goes about their life as normal, Bramble and the Clan never has to know the truth, Leafpool keeps her job, and Hollyleaf isn't stuck in the caves for half of Omen of the Stars. In my opinion, I feel like both Jayfeather and dark stripe are just….there.for display.the Erin’s have practically dropped every character and moved onto the new plot.
Honestly, I see so many videos of people taking sides on cats (mainly Bramblestar) and bashing him to heck and back. I don’t remember half the things people call Bramblestar abusive for- I skipped like two books (One i know was Moonrise) in Tnp and it didn’t even matter story wise lol- but it’s not like the realtionship was good on either side. (I’m of the opinion they’re realtioinship wouldn’t have been so bad if not for outside forces, aka. Ashfur, Firestar, Tigerstar/Hawkfrost, and Leafpool) I just don’t care to watch a video of someone bashing a character and wrapping the narritive as though the character they’re defending didn’t also do something equally as bad?? Anyways, Jayfeather’s also my favorite! I would love to see a solo video talking about him! I loved him during the PoT and Oots books where he was the main character, but after that his personallity kinda falls flat. Besides him, two personal favorties are Clear Sky and Graywing, like Clear Sky is a prick and steals soooo many girlfriends, but I’m also of the opinion DotC is the best written series and I’d respect it if its not other’s favorties
Love the stance on Bramble and Squilf! Im a big Squirrelflight lover, but its the fact that she's imperfect that makes me like her. I also really enjoy Branblestar as an antagonist such as in Squirrelflight's Hope, i just hate that people think the issue is so black and white.

I've seen a LOT of criticism on the Warrior Cats Subreddit overtime, and I think this video is a good reminder to be more civil on the internet, like how I feel people judge Blossomfall too much bc I feel adults too can be affected by parental abuse, not just kids, also Blossomfall was a _newly made warrior_ by the time this all started, not really an "adult cat", but maybe that's just me...? Idk......??? But on the other hand I saw someone say that same thing on the Subreddit a few months ago, but still, feel free to disagree with me!
this video is super important and i think a lot of ppl in the fandom need to hear it. diverse/complex opinions should be welcomed!!! it sucks seeing ppl get attacked for their opinions over fictional cats. i dislike bramblestar, but i love his fatherly relationship with hollyleaf!! i looove hawkwing, but i dont like how awful he was to pebbleshine in his super edition, even if i completely understand why he acted the way he did. there are things to like and dislike about every character, and complexity should be encouraged instead of just throwing blanket statements around bc of someones opinions abt a character.

I also like how they broke up but remained friends in CT for Breezepelt's sake because I felt that would improve the whole family, _especially_ Breezepelt.

I feel so seen as a Bramblestar fan. I do hate his abuse to Squirrelflight. But I like what he was supposed to be, a cat struggling with inner demons from his kinship and rising in respect from his clanmates. It's something my brother and I had to go through because of our father, so having a character to relate to is amazing! But I also like Squirrelflight, though I have my own reasons she bugs me half the time too, and that's okay!

My favorite character is Swiftpaw, i don’t even know much of my reasoning for him being my favorite i just love him and how he was willing to sacrifice himself for Brightpaw
You said everything I've been thinking for years. There's a major issue in the fandom (and online in general) of people insulting others or accusing them of terrible things for having different opinions on characters. We're all here because we like the kitty cat fighting books, so why are we doing more fighting than they are?
I love squirrelflight I don’t get why everyone thinks she’s heartless that she lied to everyone. That part is true but it would be worst is she just left her sister leafpool in the dust and not help her with her kits. Sure a ton of people hate her but I think she’s a good character and is now officially my 3rd favorite warrior cat❤
Bluestar is my favorite character and her super edition is my favorite book in the series. I adore how she was written all the way through. That doesn't mean her writing was flawless or make her poor choices acceptable. I enjoyed just how bad her mental state became in Rising Storm and A Dangerous Path. It doesn't mean calling Brightpaw Lostface was okay but I think it was great from a writing perspective, to show just how far she had fallen. Into the Wild Bluestar would never do what A Dangerous Path Bluestar did, and that's the fascinating part about it to me.
This video was a wonderful reminder for everyone to chill out. At the end of the day, we’re talking about cat books. It’s not worth losing your heads over.
I actually didn't know that A Vision Of Shadows HAD bonus stories at the end because I got a box set of the arc and it didn't come with the bonus stories 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Hopefully I can still read them someday maybe. I was also unaware that you have a video criticizing A Light In The Mist. I have to disagree when you say that it sucks because I loved it sm! My only complaint is how sad the ending was. I was crying a lot while reading it. But I respect your opinion. This was a good video! ❤❤❤
Okay i’m finally gonna say this. I don’t like Brambleclaw, and I don’t really like Squirrelflight either. But I don’t hate them, and I still respect fans of them. When I read TNP, none of their characters really spoke to me and I didn’t really like Squirrelflight’s attitude, nor did I like Brambleclaw anyway. I kept these “eh, i dont really like them” feelings as I read Power of Three and Omen of The Stars (keep in mind i haven’t read any arcs past oots, and i haven’t read squirrelflight’s hope or bramblestar’s storm) and they didnt really change. I became aware that in later arcs, people were talking about how Bramblestar would be considered abusive. I think with the abusive debate, I would be on squirrelflight’s side, but I feel like I actually need to read the books where Bramblestar IS supposedly abusive to be able to have a say. So uh, yeah. I don’t really like Brambleclaw or Squirrelflight, but I don’t mind if you like them. Peace.
As someone who spends way too much time in different fandoms, I gotta say: I wholeheartedly agree with this video. I think everyone should see this, regardless of fandom, whether they're a Warriors fan or not.
It's easy to say so, if you love character who's a fanfon favorite. I need to make a coming out, I like Thistleclaw, but can't express it, cause the first and last association connected with him is this disturbing grooming aspect of Spottedleaf's hope. I just don't get this. The Thistleclaw from Bluestar's prophecy and this novella are done strangely different. When Snowfur died, there was nothing to do with him trying to find another mate, and it's just seems, that they have no evil character to make a story with. But the moral about blind love could be done so much clearer and more clever than this kind of a freaking story. But, you know, I haven't heard that somebody claimed Redtail a stupid character, because of his messed up novella.
I feel like liking or hating a character can be based upon personal experiences (similar to projection like you've said-- though somewhat positively). A lot of Warrior Cat characters can reflect real life toxic or bad behavior a little too well, leading to people who have been through it to project their hate/associate that experience they've had with said character. A great example for me is Sparkpelt and Nightheart. Being trans, I relate to some of the struggles Nightheart has been through (even if his experience is not outright 'trans', many that have been through it, can see my point), which makes me dislike Sparkpelt quite a lot. I know it's likely due to writing. But him coming back and just accepting people were outright rude to him rubbed me the wrong way. This doesn't make others like or dislike of either characters incorrect though! : > Just a matter of experience and opinion.
My favorite cat is Ivypool, but i havent read omen of the stars in a very long time, so if i were to reread it, my opinion on Ivypool and Dovewing might change. I also remember not liking Dovewing, probably because Ivypool is just better
I feel like Ravenpaw and me are similar because we both have a lot of anxiety and also get scared easily. I like to debate warriors to, but if I had to pick my favorite cats it would be: Scourge, Ravenpaw, Swiftpaw, Spottedleaf, and Firestar. Debating warrior cats should be fun, but don't attack based on their preferences on their favorite character, but you can debate over a certain character or book. Also debating warrior cats books and characters is fun, but people get protective over their favorite character being disrespected.
i have to say it. i honestly liked cloudpaw in the 5th book, and i like cloudtail. you can't hate him for not believing in starclan, its like ur saying u have to believe in god. sure, he was a bit annoying from the 2nd-4th book, but now that brightheart is here, i think hes more thoughtful now and protective of his clanmates and the warrior code.
I think it's good to make videos like this. When I saw the thumbnail, I immediately clicked on it because I knew there would be some sensation of debate, and I was right. Honestly, I like other unpopular characters who aren't so much focused on my the fandom.... like Stormfur lol

One of the things that seems to happen is how people treat people who have controversial opinions. There tend to be a lot of kids who become Ashfur/evil cat apologists, and people seem to jump to harassing them. You can explain the abuse in the Ashfur situation without attacking people, esp since often they're kids??? Not to mention how there are always tons of comments explaining the same thing, like I'm pretty sure one is good? It's another thing if they're purposefully defending such cats to be a troll, but nothing justifies harassment... half the time those people are kids who simply got wrapped in the way the books were written
Heres some opions some are controversial 3 - Ferncloud and Goldenflower both deserved more they both had relations to villains. Goldenflower is Tigerstars mate and Ferncloud is Ashfurs sister, also kinda identical twin which is cute 2 - Without his graphic novel scourge is very boring. He shows up, kills tigerstar, gives clans three days to leave, then dies. He lasts a couple chapters and about 30 pages 1 - The New prophecy isnt boring. Its fun and i enjoy the travelling books and tribe drama And a little bonus Moonrise should be in Feathertails pov. Someone write a fanfic where she is before i do because like She died in that book. I wanna see what her thoughts were as she dies. It sounds interesting to read
I've been in the fandom for 11+ years I still fail to see why everyone loves Jayfeather... He gets on my nerves, very stuck up and unnecessarily rude. He's just... not that nice of a cat...
i wonder why yellowfang doesnt get as much love as jayfeather, i feel like she was a better version of “grumpy but caring medicine cat”, jayfeathers more like a “medicine cat who will scream at everyone because yes” (maybe its because of how annoying yellowfang is in starclan though-)
He was an amazingly written character in the sight, but he’s just such a horrible person.. cat? He’s straight up abusive and some how makes other characters, mostly apprentices, unnecessarily, weirdly desperate for his attention? I’m assuming this is because of his powers.. This was specified as soon as jaykit was introduced, and has gotten disgustingly worse. This goes for poppypaw, lionpaw, Cinderpaw, dovepaw, alderheart, twigkit, seedpaw, Lillypaw, fallenleaves, foxleap, brightheart ,willowshine, halfmoon and etc. I mean half of these guys harm themselves for him, two of which fuckin die for the sake of his unreasonable obsessions. Twigkit goes out her way to do something nice for him knowing well it was dangerous, and nearly drowns all because she wants his approval. Weird asf, and it’s something I’ve picked up on as soon as I opened the sight.
Not to mention lilypaw and seedpaw tried retrieving the stick- of which he could easily make a new one! Causing seedpaw to drown, and lilypaw sick.and she also most probably has trauma.@@Juanfilipe766

i've never been a massive jayfeather or mapleshade fan myself, but i can understand why people like them as characters. jayfeather was a huge asset to the arcs he's in, and provided a really interest perspective to the stories in general, especially moving from the new prophecy to power of three. it was really nice to have a pov of a blind cat, and one with powers at that. even when being one of the more serious characters he still was more than just a watered down 'grumpy' stereotype, having comedic moments from time to time and also having reasons to the way he behaved, even if it was very unnecessary at times. is he the greatest character in my opinion? no. do i understand why people love him so much? definitely i can't speak much for mapleshade as i haven't read through the entirety of warrior cats yet, nor have i read dawn of the clans or her novella, but liking a tragic character that just does downright evil things is perfectly fine. in some cases people will claim that those who like characters like that are defending or promoting their behavior, which is most definitely not true in a majority of cases tldr it's completely normal to have different opinions from people and you should be able to voice them, especially when it comes to literal fictional talking animals. going out of your way to be hateful toward people for liking something you don't is actually pointless, and this is coming from someone who is usually extremely opinionated

Such good advice! I hate Alderpaw, at least in Apprentice’s Quest, because instead of feeling anxious he feels like an entitled brat. My friend likes him and we still get along great! Agree to disagree, it’s that easy. As humans, we hate and we love, and that’s fair. Although it hurts if someone calls your favorite characetr malicious and greedy, or your favorite series confusing and boring, you have the right to disagree, but not to insult them. That was a long paragraph.
I agree with you, as someone who likes characters such as Mapleshade and Rainflower. Neither of their actions were okay, and I do not like their actions at all, but I find them to be extremely interesting. I mean, I might not consider Mapleshade's Vengeance canon just because I'm playing around with the idea that Mapleshade is supposed to be an unreliable narrator, I'm completely civil when people don't agree with me. Same with Rainflower, as I think that the concept of her character is interesting, even if I do not condone or support her actions toward Crookedstar (my absolute favorite cat), and I'm completely civil when some don't agree with my points. Basically, people are allowed to like any character without supporting their actions, and if someone likes a hated character and vice versa, that's completely fine
Some of the villains tend to be my favorites. Like Splashtail and Hawkfrost are in my top 5. I just really like their stories and why they became that way. I really want a Hawkfrost super addition 😭
i absolutley hate jayfeather but i understand if you do like him. my opinion: i never liked him, i understand being harsh based off of a disability, thats hard, but your life isnt ruined, and you dont have to make others feel aweful because of it

The minute i saw the thumbnail i feel quite appreciated. I’m not a huge Jayfeather fan, and I’m a huge Hollyleaf/Juniperclaw/Ivypool. I love different opinions and debeating is my favorite past-time. It’s just nobody wants to listen to each others opinions. I would love to hear why YOU like Jayfeather,thats cool! Intresting! I don’t hate people who like Jayfeather. It’s just- Whenever I share my pov of jayfeather just for fun, everyone doesn’t listen. We don’t have a fun and valid conversation about our different views, opinions etc. It feels people who reply to my opinion don’t care and just (at this point) yell at me about things not even related to our conversation. I’m mixed on her, for TPB and TNP (plus POT) she was so hate able and I hate how firestar fawns over her until fire stars quest, it’s not even cute and I can’t find anything to like about her until OOTS where she’s ok, not good, just okay. And I feel like the Erin’s made spottedleaf heart to make it seems she doesn’t know it’s not okay to like firepaw?.. I adore the concept of a medicine cat trying to break the generational trauma and taking care of firepaw in a familial way, but noo she had to be in love with firepaw for NO reason, why couldn’t we have a grooming survivor trying to protect others, I will forever have a grudge against the Erin’s for ruining spottedleaf and thistleclaw.

I love hearing people's different views on characters, there's so many reasons to hate or love a character, you might love a character because their evil or might hate them for the same reason. Personally, i do love the flawed characters, but I also highly appreciate more "perfect" characters like firestar!!
As somebody who loves Brambleclaw for sentimental reasons, this is so relatable. I love him for reasons outside of his relationship drama, but it’s so hard to say that. Also people say I’m “inconsistent” for liking him and Squirrelflight at the same time. I just started reading at TNP and these characters mean a lot to me.
I agree on that and the fact that they decided to turn him into an a hole in squirrelflight’s book completely destroyed me because I had a lot of esteem for him and this decision ripped off my soul as a reader
So real, I like both characters because they're both more than just their relationship. (I like their characteristics/lineage backstories so much.)
I know the Erins love introducing pointless drama when more interesting issues are going on in the background, but I hate how they keep recycling their relationship issues over and over again.

If you go back in the series, he was still snappy with her and mean, and it got worse as the books went on. Don’t forget Bramblestar’s Storm where he about cheated on her with Jessy aha. He was a bad mate way before that. They broke up so many times.
I agree 100%! I’m a huge Mapleshade fan, but I understand that some people dislike her and their reasonings for doing so. If only everyone took your advice, we’d have a lot more silly debates then offense ones!
I'll be honest, I like the *character* of Mapleshade. She was rude, rash, and often puts blame on near innocent cats. It's an awesome set up for a villain! What I don't like is when some fans (not all) think that cats like Ravenwing (who was doing his job) and Reedshine (who... was being cheated on? Yeah, I don't understand the Reedshine hate) deserve the Dark Forest. I think it's poetic that the cats Mapleshade villainized and killed in her rage went to Starclan with her kits, and she went to the Dark Forest, proving that her vengeance didn't solve anything.

I’m on the opposite side here, I hate Mapleshade with a passion, but I never have hated Mapleshade fans (Mapleshade apologists are another story). I’m friends with Mapleshade haters but I’m also friends with Mapleshade fans, I understand why people like her. I might actually even like her if everyone didn’t try to justify all her actions, even as an Appledusk fan, I want to like her, but people her love her so much and want everyone else to love her, literally make me hate her. Even when talking to Mapleshade apologists, I try to be nice, and remind myself that they are humans, and it’s not worth losing sleep over, I think I may have been insulting at one point but I’ve strayed away from that and just pretend they are talking about a different villain.

I agree too - I feel a little frustrated that there are people who pick fights with people who like Mapleshade (and vice-versa). It is important to remember that the person on the other side of the screen is a human at the end of the day. I like Appledusk for example, and have my reasons for doing so, but if someone else dislikes him? Perfectly fine! Mapleshade too, she's an interesting character - but I admittedly find her overrated
When I saw how much stuff you mentioned on why opinions and debates began to fall flat, I instantly got flashbacks to the Brambleclaw, Ashfur, and Squirrelflight drama. Not the current "Bramblestar is abusive" debacle, but all the way back to when the love triangle started. God I remember it like it was yesterday.
- Squirrelflight getting called some nasty names by Ashfur fans for "leading him on" (even though she only considered him when she and Brambleclaw were having a spat, and broke up after like 2 weeks).
- People creating their own headcanons for Ashfur prior to his insanity and then declaring them canon.
- The bashing of Brambleclaw's actions in Power of Three (justified and unjustified) as reasons Ashfur would be better.
It was a dumpster fire sharing your opinions back during the Power of Three arc in particular. Especially relating to all the drama going on without the context of Leafpool's Wish. So this video was... something I really needed to watch to reflect on myself and get some catharsis.

All the Ashfur defenders from back in the day were the worst. So many ideas about who Squirrelflight or Brambleclaw are were created out of thin air, with no evidence from the book whatsoever. Nearly ten years later, and I'm still a bit salty about one particular Ashfur apologist that I argued with lol.

-All the first arc queens deserve way more love and attention than they got [especially Willowpelt and Goldenflower]
-A she-cat you think is a girlboss having kids doesn’t make her weak or boring. What makes her boring is lazy characterization after she’s out of the spotlight. Being a mother is one of the hardest jobs there is and the weird hating on gentle, nurturing women who choose to help raise and support the next generation has got to stop. [looking at you, Ferncloud haters]
-People like to single out Clear Sky in the DOTC cast [which is fair because he’s a jerk] but iirc most of the settlers were in some way complicit in taking over the forest and then forcing the people who already lived there to share with them and killing people for ‘trespassing’ on land that was theirs like a month before
-The Clans operate in a very tokenism-esque way when it comes to rogue relations. They only really let in outsiders if they offer some upfront benefit [see Firestar] and go back to being awful and racist 1 arc later under a kittypet leader...
-If the Erins aren’t trying to set up corrupt, elitist StarClan then I really don’t know what they think they’re doing
-There should be more Clan cat and rogue forbidden romances [to make things at least a little different] or a rogue protagonist who stays a rogue
-As much as people call Darkstripe a Tigerstar simp, he’s as much a victim as Tigerstar was to Thistleclaw. He’s Tigerstar’s apprentice, shipping them is weird.
-The series is bizarrely anti-adoption for how many parents it pointlessly kills off/makes unavailable [see Squirrelflight and kits and Gray Wing and Thunder]
this!! Bramblestar is genuinely one of my favorite characters, and I get why people don’t like him. But the thing is, I love Bramblestar as a CHARACTER. he’s wonderfully written and I think especially what he’s going through after TBC arc is so interesting. I like him a lot, and although I think he’s a bad mate to Squilf (even though I’m not a huge fan of squilf in general), I like him as a character. he’s interesting.
I’m literally doing a debate speech in my class currently and as someone who is INCREDIBLY good at debating I love seeing people argue about their opinion, it’s always entertaining because people are so stupidly protective over their favorite characters.

My favorite is Needletail. I don’t agree with a lot of things she did but I thought she had the best character development and what she did had a motive one way or another. She had so much improvement in the end, and turned from a rebellious teenager into a responsible older sister figure for Violetshine. I love her.

I came into a conversation about how Bluestar is ableist because of her naming Brightpaw/heart Lostface. The Erins specifically said that this was to show her insanity at that time, personally I didn’t like that she named Brightpaw/heart Lostface but I also love it cause it truly shows how far her insanity and paranoia went. It just gives so much more to her character.

yeah I don't really think the Blustar is ableist cause like... she was struggling with mental illness. she was going insane. she was doing bad things becuase she had lost her faith in starclan and believed they were evil. she named her that becuase she thought starclan was punishing her, she wasn't thinking about how it affected brightheart, she was thinking about how starclan was punishing them, becuase she was mentally not stable. i think people just misinterpret her actions as ableist becuase they think her reason for naming her lostface was BECUASE of her face, but it really wasn't... i mean, if i remember right, she wasn't even making them warriors at the time they were ready becuase she was unwell... so she was already treating them poorly before that

Bluestar and Brightheart are my 2 favorite cats, which may seem like a contradiction, but I like them for very different reasons. I love Bluestar BECAUSE she's morally gray and we can see her struggle with her mental health, which I relate to. I love Brightheart because she's strong in the face of adversity and stays optimistic throughout it all. I relate to Bluestar, I aspire to be more like Brightheart. And I think that's okay! And to any Brightheart fans who hate Bluestar, you are completely valid for feeling that way. The way Bluestar treated her was NOT okay and it will NEVER be okay! But liking flawed characters or villains is also okay!
I am a Gray Wing fan as I sorta related to his journey (minus the mate stuff) when I first read the DotC arc. The first time I read the arc, my family and I moved from the area I was born and into a more rural place. At first, I hated it. A bit like how Gray Wing didn't want to leave the mountains at first, I didn't want to leave my old home. However, a few months passed as I reread the warrior series, I realized I didn't finish the dotc and picked it up again. I guess I sorta clicked with Gray Wing and his actions to make the moor his home. How he went from not wanting to leave, to leaving because his brother ran from home, to finally settling in to the forest territories and becoming a rather great leader. Is he a perfect cat, no absolutely not. I don't like how he just let's his brother do whatever he wanted, and the fact he still tried to save Clear Sky during a fire, only to lose his adopted kit and get into even more fights and quarrels with ancient SkyClan was insane. But, who in this world is perfect? Gray Wing will always have a place in my heart, as my favorite warrior, and as a sort of character who reminds me that even if life doesn't turn out how you plan it, we can all adapt. (And I'm going to need that lesson again as we are moving back to where I grew up, and I'd be lying if I said I was excited about this. I've grown accustomed to my forest life and really don't want to move, but I will adapt just as Gray Wing did)
Sorry a little rambling myself, maybe I should make my own videos on why I like characters. Get a conversation going on my own channel or something one day.
Oh my yes! Gray wing is just a great character. He may not be the best in relationships, but he's one of my favorites.

MapleShade will always hold a special place in my heart as the first Warrior Cat I was ever exposed to. I love how complicated of a character she is but also agree her character has been milked to the point that maybe she should’ve died in the Great Battle or at least in Broken Code. Honestly the only thing I don’t like of calling myself a MapleShade fan openly is because I don’t like being associated with the people who will take her word at face value and endlessly defend her actions. I believe she wasn’t in the right state of mind at the time but she still shouldn’t have made her kits cross the river, especially not in a storm. I agree that it was FreckleWish who originally started the rumor that BirchFace was her kits’ father but she still shouldn’t have played into it, and I will also always say FreckleWish doesn’t deserve the Dark Forest. MapleShade is manipulative and I love her for that, even in my AU where she’s technically reformed she’s still manipulative as she makes up a narrative where AppleDusk assaulted her.

I personally don't like Mapleshade so much. She was an amazing villain and I'm all for it but.. it's just some Mapleshade fans kind of ruined liking her? It's hard to explain, but it feels like I'm being pressured into liking her. I hate being pressured. And yes, these are the fans that say Frecklewish or Ravenwing deserved to go to the dark forest. Also sometimes make up things in which, didn't happen. (Which I totally disagree with!) Some people even say "well she was driven by grief" She was a horrible cat from the beginning, thinking she was above the rules, shifting blame onto other cats, etc... That is a great villain! As I said, I'm all for it. It's just the fact some Mapleshade fans seem to forget that and say "It was just grief." I am friends with Mapleshade fans, but not the ones who pressure me into liking her. Overall, she's an alright character, I just don't like being pressured into liking a character. I don't hate Mapleshade, it's her fans for me.
So relatable. Once I said that I hate Squirrelflight, one Squirrelflight fan said "You are the worst, no doubt why your father left you" or something like that.
I was just... Surprised that people perceive others opinions like that.
Also I saw people sending threats to several fans of pretty hated characters like: "I hope you die slowly and painfully"

This is actually quite true. My favorite cat is Jayfeather, he's my top favorite cat, but I do have to say I don't like some of the actions he did just because he was in a bad mood. He's definitely a cat who is pretty snappy, and he doesn't think carefully before going something(Judging by the books where he first became a medicine cat). But yet he Is still my favorite cat.
Same thing with Bluestar, she was a fantastic leader but by the time she understood Tigerstar was evil she became very very depressed, to the point she didn't even care if she hurt a cats feelings by calling them "Lostface". That was the most uncool thing she did, she basically mocked Brightheart by naming her that all because she was depressed and lost faith in Starclan. But yet, I still have to say I believe she was still a good leader. So in conclusion, this video is very correct. We can still favorite a character while also not liking some actions they did. I mean, I believe Bramblestar has his flaws, such as being abusive to Squirrelflight, but he did save Firestars life and he's there to help and defend his clan as leader. For that, I at least respect him. But at the same time, these are cats lol cats in real life literally act like this, don't forget that cats aren't like humans, for cats males are supposed to be dominant over females and the female cat will experience pain while experiencing that in some sort of way. But again, this is my opinion and people will disagree with me and be like "Well Bramblestar still sucks for acting like this, who cares if he's a cat?".
Exactly! I like both Bramblestar and Squirrelflight, but I don’t justify either of their actions.I look at both character’s decisions before leaping to their defence. I usually go for an INTERESTING plot, even if they’re a murderer. And no, it doesn’t mean I like them, but because I value the amount of drama they stirred up- what would a book series be without that? I wouldn’t go publicly ATTACKING someone online, just because they dislike a character I absolutely adore.Anyone who does that has no more sense than a small child.

THIS, especially about Bramble!! I’ve personally always been a Bramble fan, but I absolutely will not defend his abusive actions towards Squilf. At the same time, while I don’t like Squirrel as much as Bramble (I do love her though!!), I’m absolutely on her side with the Bramble vs Squirrel argument. Not everything is black and white, especially with cat books!!

I 100% with all of these especially with Jayfeather, he is a character my main issue is that his blindness is used as a plot device more than just making him a unique character. But you see most people projecting themselves onto Jayfeather, Mapleshade, and hating on Clear Sky

MapleShade is my second favorite cat(to ravenpaw) and I don't think any of what she did was okay, I also dislike AppleDusk, not because I have to, I just do. But I'm still able to have a civil conversation with someone who hates MapleShade and loves AppleDusk without trying to change their mind about the characters, it's okay to just talk about warriors and not fight all the time and a cat doesn't have to be good for you to like them! This video makes an awesome point on that!
This is a great video for really any fandom on the internet consisting of younger people. I wish I had better roll models in my internet communities as a kid. There were some VERY sketchy people in the Warriors community back then and I suppose there still are, but you, Moonkitti, and Sunnyfall stick out as the big Warrior accounts anymore and it is so nice seeing how you all handle the subjects with kids in mind because they're books for kids. So thank you for this!! I wish I had seen it when I was younger getting into internet debates. I also think some adults I know need to see it!

It is actually HEAVILY implied, and almost outright stated, at the end of chapter 39 in Bluestar’s Prophecy that he was going to pick Thistleclaw over Bluestar because she had/was going to have kits. The except you picked in the video is from AFTER the kits were gone and he was offering the position.
On page 462, verbatim, he says “you will be a wonderful mother, an asset to the Clan. I had hoped one day you’d follow in my footsteps, but StarClan seems to have a different path for you. Fortunately, there’s another who may be able to lead this Clan one day.”

Yes! I don’t like spottedleaf as a cat because I think she’s manipulative and creepy, but I do think her story is interesting. Being groomed by a cat, then continuing that act on to firestar is very interesting.
I'm on the 3rd series, 1st book but I don't think Spotted'Leaf necessarily "groomed" Firestar. Keep in mind they have a 5 year age gap, which for cats, isn't that big. In fact, their aging is way different than humans. A reason why kits develop quickly. And she sent prophecies to Firestar but never did any romantic acts I think. Also who did she get groomed by??? (Sorry I don't know full lore, again, on the 3rd series, 1st book.)
I wonder how different the books would have been if they kept HollyLeaf as a med cat and Jayfeather as a warriror. Would Holly still have killed Ashfur? Would Jayfeather be a different type of warrior?
That's why I love those two, there's so many "what ifs" when it comes to their arcs, its very fascinating to think about and opens the door to so many AU's and fanfics.

I’m sure hollyleaf still would’ve killed him, whether or not she’s a medicine cats still a warrior code, religious fanatic. She’d still be afraid to be outcasted, which ultimately led to her killing him the first place. Having hollyleaf as a medicine cat would’ve been so interesting, missed opportunity there warriors. She would’ve had a much closer relationship with Leafpool, which can either end with her being more forgiving, or actually going through with killing Leafpool without jay to stop her. (He would’ve had no business in the medicine den with role swaps)

The secret is kept, everyone goes about their life as normal, Bramble and the Clan never has to know the truth, Leafpool keeps her job, and Hollyleaf isn't stuck in the caves for half of Omen of the Stars.

Honestly, I see so many videos of people taking sides on cats (mainly Bramblestar) and bashing him to heck and back. I don’t remember half the things people call Bramblestar abusive for- I skipped like two books (One i know was Moonrise) in Tnp and it didn’t even matter story wise lol- but it’s not like the realtionship was good on either side.
(I’m of the opinion they’re realtioinship wouldn’t have been so bad if not for outside forces, aka. Ashfur, Firestar, Tigerstar/Hawkfrost, and Leafpool) I just don’t care to watch a video of someone bashing a character and wrapping the narritive as though the character they’re defending didn’t also do something equally as bad??
Anyways, Jayfeather’s also my favorite! I would love to see a solo video talking about him! I loved him during the PoT and Oots books where he was the main character, but after that his personallity kinda falls flat.
Besides him, two personal favorties are Clear Sky and Graywing, like Clear Sky is a prick and steals soooo many girlfriends, but I’m also of the opinion DotC is the best written series and I’d respect it if its not other’s favorties

Love the stance on Bramble and Squilf! Im a big Squirrelflight lover, but its the fact that she's imperfect that makes me like her. I also really enjoy Branblestar as an antagonist such as in Squirrelflight's Hope, i just hate that people think the issue is so black and white.

I've seen a LOT of criticism on the Warrior Cats Subreddit overtime, and I think this video is a good reminder to be more civil on the internet, like how I feel people judge Blossomfall too much bc I feel adults too can be affected by parental abuse, not just kids, also Blossomfall was a _newly made warrior_ by the time this all started, not really an "adult cat", but maybe that's just me...? Idk......??? But on the other hand I saw someone say that same thing on the Subreddit a few months ago, but still, feel free to disagree with me!

I feel so seen as a Bramblestar fan. I do hate his abuse to Squirrelflight. But I like what he was supposed to be, a cat struggling with inner demons from his kinship and rising in respect from his clanmates. It's something my brother and I had to go through because of our father, so having a character to relate to is amazing! But I also like Squirrelflight, though I have my own reasons she bugs me half the time too, and that's okay!

I used to hate Jayfeather, esp in power of three, when I read in the later arcs tho he can be a bit fun, but I am honestly on the side that he is overrated, the best way I could put it is it's like the warriors version of charizard but its the fans that make Charizard what it is.
inherently Charizard is a good/cool pokemon, just like how jayfeather is an overall good character, with the erens not really adding any spice to characters anymore quite like him.
But the fact that he is everywhere ontop of me still bearing some annoyance with jaypaw in particular (I can understand the disability struggles so its not that, but I do find the little apprentice version of him annoying still, if he communicated better he could of possibly kept being a warrior apprentice at least for longer, but then again when do cats actually talk to each other in this series? 😅 Like they were trying to accommodate him to the best of thier knowledge, if little sass butt just sat there and talked and said hey bc i was born with this I already got this part down as my other senses are great! yada yada yada things could of turned out differently. You said everything I've been thinking for years. There's a major issue in the fandom (and online in general) of people insulting others or accusing them of terrible things for having different opinions on characters. We're all here because we like the kitty cat fighting books, so why are we doing more fighting than they are?
I love squirrelflight I don’t get why everyone thinks she’s heartless that she lied to everyone. That part is true but it would be worst is she just left her sister leafpool in the dust and not help her with her kits. Sure a ton of people hate her but I think she’s a good character and is now officially my 3rd favorite warrior cat❤

Bluestar is my favorite character and her super edition is my favorite book in the series. I adore how she was written all the way through. That doesn't mean her writing was flawless or make her poor choices acceptable. I enjoyed just how bad her mental state became in Rising Storm and A Dangerous Path. It doesn't mean calling Brightpaw Lostface was okay but I think it was great from a writing perspective, to show just how far she had fallen. Into the Wild Bluestar would never do what A Dangerous Path Bluestar did, and that's the fascinating part about it to me.
This video was a wonderful reminder for everyone to chill out. At the end of the day, we’re talking about cat books. It’s not worth losing your heads over.

Okay i’m finally gonna say this.
I don’t like Brambleclaw, and I don’t really like Squirrelflight either. But I don’t hate them, and I still respect fans of them. When I read TNP, none of their characters really spoke to me and I didn’t really like Squirrelflight’s attitude, nor did I like Brambleclaw anyway. I kept these “eh, i dont really like them” feelings as I read Power of Three and Omen of The Stars (keep in mind i haven’t read any arcs past oots, and i haven’t read squirrelflight’s hope or bramblestar’s storm) and they didnt really change. I became aware that in later arcs, people were talking about how Bramblestar would be considered abusive. I think with the abusive debate, I would be on squirrelflight’s side, but I feel like I actually need to read the books where Bramblestar IS supposedly abusive to be able to have a say.
So uh, yeah. I don’t really like Brambleclaw or Squirrelflight, but I don’t mind if you like them. Peace.

Oh what a beauty this video is. I think it should be required watching for everybody.
It's easy to say so, if you love character who's a fanfon favorite. I need to make a coming out, I like Thistleclaw, but can't express it, cause the first and last association connected with him is this disturbing grooming aspect of Spottedleaf's hope. I just don't get this. The Thistleclaw from Bluestar's prophecy and this novella are done strangely different. When Snowfur died, there was nothing to do with him trying to find another mate, and it's just seems, that they have no evil character to make a story with. But the moral about blind love could be done so much clearer and more clever than this kind of a freaking story. But, you know, I haven't heard that somebody claimed Redtail a stupid character, because of his messed up novella.
I feel like liking or hating a character can be based upon personal experiences (similar to projection like you've said-- though somewhat positively). A lot of Warrior Cat characters can reflect real life toxic or bad behavior a little too well, leading to people who have been through it to project their hate/associate that experience they've had with said character. A great example for me is Sparkpelt and Nightheart. Being trans, I relate to some of the struggles Nightheart has been through (even if his experience is not outright 'trans', many that have been through it, can see my point), which makes me dislike Sparkpelt quite a lot. I know it's likely due to writing. But him coming back and just accepting people were outright rude to him rubbed me the wrong way. This doesn't make others like or dislike of either characters incorrect though! : > Just a matter of experience and opinion.
My favorite cat is Ivypool, but i havent read omen of the stars in a very long time, so if i were to reread it, my opinion on Ivypool and Dovewing might change. I also remember not liking Dovewing, probably because Ivypool is just better

I feel like Ravenpaw and me are similar because we both have a lot of anxiety and also get scared easily. I like to debate warriors to, but if I had to pick my favorite cats it would be: Scourge, Ravenpaw, Swiftpaw, Spottedleaf, and Firestar. Debating warrior cats should be fun, but don't attack based on their preferences on their favorite character, but you can debate over a certain character or book. Also debating warrior cats books and characters is fun, but people get protective over their favorite character being disrespected.

i honestly liked cloudpaw in the 5th book, and i like cloudtail. you can't hate him for not believing in starclan, its like ur saying u have to believe in god. sure, he was a bit annoying from the 2nd-4th book, but now that brightheart is here, i think hes more thoughtful now and protective of his clanmates and the warrior code.

One of the things that seems to happen is how people treat people who have controversial opinions. There tend to be a lot of kids who become Ashfur/evil cat apologists, and people seem to jump to harassing them. You can explain the abuse in the Ashfur situation without attacking people, esp since often they're kids??? Not to mention how there are always tons of comments explaining the same thing, like I'm pretty sure one is good? It's another thing if they're purposefully defending such cats to be a troll, but nothing justifies harassment... half the time those people are kids who simply got wrapped in the way the books were written

3 - Ferncloud and Goldenflower both deserved more they both had relations to villains. Goldenflower is Tigerstars mate and Ferncloud is Ashfurs sister, also kinda identical twin which is cute
2 - Without his graphic novel scourge is very boring. He shows up, kills tigerstar, gives clans three days to leave, then dies. He lasts a couple chapters and about 30 pages
1 - The New prophecy isnt boring. Its fun and i enjoy the travelling books and tribe drama

He was an amazingly written character in the sight, but he’s just such a horrible person.. cat? He’s straight up abusive and some how makes other characters, mostly apprentices, unnecessarily, weirdly desperate for his attention? I’m assuming this is because of his powers.. This was specified as soon as jaykit was introduced, and has gotten disgustingly worse. This goes for poppypaw, lionpaw, Cinderpaw, dovepaw, alderheart, twigkit, seedpaw, Lillypaw, fallenleaves, foxleap, brightheart ,willowshine, halfmoon and etc. I mean half of these guys harm themselves for him, two of which fuckin die for the sake of his unreasonable obsessions. Twigkit goes out her way to do something nice for him knowing well it was dangerous, and nearly drowns all because she wants his approval. Weird asf, and it’s something I’ve picked up on as soon as I opened the sight.

i've never been a massive jayfeather or mapleshade fan myself, but i can understand why people like them as characters.
jayfeather was a huge asset to the arcs he's in, and provided a really interest perspective to the stories in general, especially moving from the new prophecy to power of three. it was really nice to have a pov of a blind cat, and one with powers at that. even when being one of the more serious characters he still was more than just a watered down 'grumpy' stereotype, having comedic moments from time to time and also having reasons to the way he behaved, even if it was very unnecessary at times. is he the greatest character in my opinion? no. do i understand why people love him so much? definitely
i can't speak much for mapleshade as i haven't read through the entirety of warrior cats yet, nor have i read dawn of the clans or her novella, but liking a tragic character that just does downright evil things is perfectly fine. in some cases people will claim that those who like characters like that are defending or promoting their behavior, which is most definitely not true in a majority of cases
tldr it's completely normal to have different opinions from people and you should be able to voice them, especially when it comes to literal fictional talking animals. going out of your way to be hateful toward people for liking something you don't is actually pointless, and this is coming from someone who is usually extremely opinionated

While dark forest actually interacts with other cats,
Like training them and helping them learn how to fight.

I think it would also have been a good idea if we were never really introduced to StarClan. It was mysterious and foreign in the first series, and I wish they kept it that way.

Such good advice! I hate Alderpaw, at least in Apprentice’s Quest, because instead of feeling anxious he feels like an entitled brat. My friend likes him and we still get along great! Agree to disagree, it’s that easy. As humans, we hate and we love, and that’s fair. Although it hurts if someone calls your favorite characetr malicious and greedy, or your favorite series confusing and boring, you have the right to disagree, but not to insult them. That was a long paragraph.
I agree with you, as someone who likes characters such as Mapleshade and Rainflower. Neither of their actions were okay, and I do not like their actions at all, but I find them to be extremely interesting. I mean, I might not consider Mapleshade's Vengeance canon just because I'm playing around with the idea that Mapleshade is supposed to be an unreliable narrator, I'm completely civil when people don't agree with me. Same with Rainflower, as I think that the concept of her character is interesting, even if I do not condone or support her actions toward Crookedstar (my absolute favorite cat), and I'm completely civil when some don't agree with my points. Basically, people are allowed to like any character without supporting their actions, and if someone likes a hated character and vice versa, that's completely fine

Some of the villains tend to be my favorites. Like Splashtail and Hawkfrost are in my top 5. I just really like their stories and why they became that way. I really want a Hawkfrost super addition 😭

my opinion: i never liked him, i understand being harsh based off of a disability, thats hard, but your life isnt ruined, and you dont have to make others feel aweful because of it
