- This is a special episode of Combat Approved, dedicated to the Russian Air Force helicopter squadron of the aviation group in Syria. This is a unique unit which has both the newest strike helicopters Mi-28N Night Hunter and the Ka-52 Alligator, Mi-24 strike helicopters, air assault Mi-8. We’ll tell you not only about the combat aircraft, but we’ll also show you the job of the pilots and engineers at the Khmeimim air base in such details for the first time. Real combat missions, exquisite takeoffs and landings in pitch darkness, protection and escort of transport airplanes - it’s just the part of the work of the Russian helicopter pilots. We’ll also tell you about the work of the search-and-rescue detachment. Pilots, rescue workers and marines, who belong to this detachment, are always in the full readiness mode as long as there at least one Russian aircraft in the Syrian sky. In case of emergency, the rescuers should evacuate the crashed pilots even from the enemy territory.

Dudes to anyone who thinks russian military gear is inferior to US . US military budget is around $934 billion in 2020-21 in comparison russian budget is only 65 billion for same period; US spend on defence in just 1 year what Russia spent between 2006 -2019 14 years . Military equipment doesn't need to be expensive ...it needs to be effective
Russia actually makes money by sales of military equipment! They are second to US even with sanctions!
You can see them in Rambo, or plenty of Mi8 and Mi24 we have in the States. We use them everywhere for realistic drills.

The truck convoys didn't transport much. A lot was still loaded onto ships and shipped directly to Turkey for fresh papers.

Interesting video, but focus should be on persons and their military vehicles, ways of using equipment , not on "heroic" journalist.
If there was no pressure from the US and the Western powers I'm sure a lot more countries with small defense budgets would buy more Russian gear.
Or Chinese or even North Korean.
The problem is maintenance, reliability, support and spares. This does not of course apply to the AK47 which just works all the time.

ISIS were transporting stolen Syrian oil freely to Turkey (NATO member) under the eyes of the U.S coalition aircrafts. nobody did anything, until Russia intervened in 2016. when it comes to oil the U.S doesn't care.

Al-Assad is truly against the terrorists or ISIS which is created by the US. Assad is against the US. The US wants to install pipelines from Iraq to the Mediterranean Sea thru Syria to compete with Russia's Gazprom. But Assad rejected the US offer. So its CIA arm created ISIS out of al Qaeda to mess up Syria and topple down Assad.
