Google employees protest company’s ties with Israeli government

- Groups of employees of the tech giant have entered two of the company’s offices, one in Sunnyvale, California, and one in New York City.
The protesters at the California office say they will not leave until Google pulls out of a $1.2bn contract it shares with Amazon, that would see it provide the Israeli government with cloud services and data centres.
Some at the company have long opposed the contract, known as “Nimbus”, but the conflict within the tech giant has expanded since Israel began its assault on Gaza.
Ramesh Srinivasan is a Professor at the UCLA department of Information Studies. He joins us live from Los Angeles to discuss the latest updates. He says Project Nimbus is known for its lack of transparency.

Google initially also had another project with the US government called project maven, similar to project nimbus which shut down after a series of employee protests, keep protesting until they drop the project, it is better that boycotting and ignoring it while the damage is being done, bring a bad name to the company, use their services against them

So, there you have it folks. Burma Campaign UK has shown that Google’s own AI is essentially more ethical than the company itself.

Google employees are fortunate to express their voices because they live in the Western world and work for Western companies. This is not the case in other parts of the world, particularly in the Arab world, where even employees of this media (Al Jazeera) cannot freely express democracy in the country (Qatar) where the media is based.
