  • In this communist urban adventure, I will venture off into the streets of Mantanzas, Cuba. This city is packed with culture and tokens of support for Cuba's faded revolution. The local communist party boss, reminded me, despite how things may feel or look in Cuba, someone is always watching. As usual, I will venture off into the unknown and will explore this tropical-communist stronghold. Let's GO!

Cubans are some of the toughest people around. Food is scarce, housing is a nightmare, constant fight to care for the family, etc...
    Long live Cuba 🇨🇺

Thanks for this uniquely amazing content Keenan. I love Mantanzas, especially the people. I wasn't aware of the meaning of Mantanzas, but respect to the Fishermen. I agree the fruit was top notch, I also enjoyed natural food. Thank you for your dedication, my people caught serious bubble gut in Havana before leaving. I remember more people. I wish I had an🍦as it felt like a thousand degrees. Is there music regulaely on certain nights at Callejon de las 3 Traditionales? Varadero is a cool day trip from Mantanzas.🌊

At 9:58, a Cuba Libre that you can't taste the rum. Of course, half of the bottle at the bar has been poured out and taken home by the bartender. The missing half has been replenished with water. I am sure many viewers did that as youths with their fathers' liquor cabinet. Given its proximity to the tourist mecca of Varadero, many of the workers live in Matanzas and enjoy a slightly better way of life. Dining...ask around about a paladar. I have ended up in peoples homes having really good edible Cuban food. The experience is worth it. The Cubans are a kind hospitable people. At the end of the meal you feel embarrassed to pay so little.

🤣☺️☺️ my brother was definitely sipp’n on mom and dads rum… But they didn’t even drink and never realized it 🤣! I have a friend that can give me some inside access to life in Matanzas. I might take him up on the offer….

@@KeenanLambert198 The soda is probably more expensive that the rum. There are "light" rums which you might not taste as they are lower in alcohol (generally the first stuff to be pulled off the distillation column). My favourite was Corsario ($4 a bottle). It was tastyy and very dangerous as you would sit there and drink most of the bottle and not think twice until you tried to get up.

The sprint to the restroom was impressive.... I haven't ran that fast since about junior year of high school. lol!
The dark thing I learned is that many Cubans view Che poorly because of his role in the executions that happened after Batista fled..... Where as Camilo Cienfuegos is remembered fondly.

In Havana's terminal 3 airport there is a little Kiosk for Cadeca to the far right of American Airlines check-in.... They will definitely give you a horrible rate though.... Cuba's money has no value outside of Cuba... Its impossible to trade at the airports stateside... There might be some "spots" in Miami and Broward County in South Florida, but nothing outside of those. You can't even use pesos to buy a meal in Havana's airport.

What is wrong with you Keenan ! Never drink water unless it is boiled. When commercial water is questionable (fake). Go for the aqua con gas. Don't drink fruit juices unless you know it has not been cut with water. Other than that, it is pretty much rum (no ice cubes) or beer.
