I have the same opinion about traditional blind dating - it's not the best basis for relationship when the only thing you initially know about the other person is that they're (also) desperate to find someone. With Tinder there's the added obstacle of being known to be used for hook up culture, not long term commitment.

I was lucky enough and met a genuine guy on a language exchange app. I wasn’t even looking for a romantic relationship, just genuinely trying to improve my language skills before traveling to Korea. It took more than a year of talking (and yes,fighting as well) before we actually met as friends and things just progressed from there. I don’t know, maybe because we are both in our 40’s but I think it’s possible to find really nice men out there, Korea included. So don’t give up your hopes ladies!

Bad exists everywhere. But what is even worse is that these type of men know that some foreigners romanticize korean men because of the dramas and put them on a pedestal. When you put people on a pedestal its easy for them to manipulate you or be impressed with the bare minimum.
I have heard a few stories about korean men expecting or asking or letting a foreigner pay for things. I know its 2023 but imo they are more free and open and expecting with foreigners to pay vs korean women. I definitely pay sometimes with my husband ( who is born-and raised in korea korean) but he always wants to be the one to take care of me and so I feel good to pay for some dates some times. So i would almost consider it a red flag for korean men to expect or let a foreigner pay especially when ur just starting to meet and date .
