I remember my first trip to Pittsburgh. I was following another one of our drivers because "he knew where the job site was", we ended up getting lost and taking the scenic route by the university. good times cheers brother.
I gotta give you credit my friend you're always in a good mood even in the shittest situation. You always keep your cool and I have a lot of respect for you for that. I pull only one 48 spread axel and I'm not nearly as calm as you. Keep on trucking my friend.
Man I miss the days when I curzed with my friend, he had a 444 Cummins, so under rated motor, love hearing the way you drive your truck, no rush with the gears, No Panic in the change,
Been there done that only in Jersey city at night w/o phone, coming up against tunnel I didn' want to and couldn't enter, lots of low under passes. Finally found a truck yard that gave me directions to a very bad area. Wish I had 80 sticks of dyomite that night !!!
I'm from PA. I couldn't tell the town or city you were in, judging by the hills, I'm gonna say near Pittsburgh? That's a scary part of the world to drive a "big truck" in, tight turns, and low bridges. Well done.
Great channel! Your videos are great. Simple and straightforward. Less is better sometimes and these are perfect! Big fan. Just smashed the follow button. Here’s to hoping you keep posting! Keep her between the mustard and mayo and be safe!
Just found this channel and wouldn't you know you're right in my hometown of Greensburg. Unfortunately it's not a truck friendly city. Hopefully next time is a better experience for you!
Yeah that's why I take loads to Lehigh Valley only. No Poconos, no Philly and definitely no western Amish country. Beautiful scenery and lovely people but not truck friendly.
Im a car hauler..been to PA many times..every time I go I end up in the same situations youre in. Pheonixville came a across two 10ft bridges, hadno choice but to make a left turn into residential streets. Its an alternative way to raise your blood pressure and heart rate at record pace.
@@callthemallwhen running overheight I havnt ran into low bridges yet..thank god. But trees are a car haulers worst enemy. We are always dodging any tree that looks a little low. Branches, twigs, leaves...anything that even slightly brushes against your cars, thats it youre fucked. Sometimes its impossible to dodge them, especially at night when you cant see them.
Looks like you were over somewhere between delmont and new stanton. I live in pa and yes, they'll run you 20 miles out of the way instead of letting you make a right turn. Most of the towns, the roads are too dam small and god forbid we need to use the whole intersection for 10 seconds. Still not as bad as running a long wheelbase with a 48' spread on a 7 stop run to the lumber yards in DC. That city is all one ways. If you miss a turn its 3 hrs to get back around most of the time. Sometimes our job sucks
Greensburg is not truck friendly at all! I've driven motorcoach transit buses in that area and that turn by the "No Right Turn for Three Or More Axle Trucks" is a tight turn in a bus. I wouldn't want to attempt that in a truck. And yes, PA has too many toll roads.
Always remember you can dump your suspension air and go down a couple inches. I have air ride steer on my Pete so I can drop my whole truck about 3 to 4 inches
Nice I would like air drop front suspension at some point, but that’s way down on the list at this point haha. And yeah totally blanked on the fact I can drop the drive suspension at the time but oh well still made it through!
@@callthemall heck yea that's all that matters. New york city is even worse. Their height signs are all wrong. I've been under many bridges that said 12'6" haha
i know how u feel i did it in melbourne australia i took the wrong turn try to u turn at a roundabout clip a pole & went under a low bridge damage the muffer stack both of them & scaped the trailor loss my job the next day shit happens
Hang in there you're going to Mike and I know you I got confidence in you holla the sound of your truck you can do a great job of shifting gears have a good day and be safe
Hey man! Another comment for you. Could you explain how you came to a complete stop, starting at 6:17? I just started CDL school last weekend and our first module was gear shifting. I saw you dropped it to first gear AFTER a complete stop? I’m a little confused
Yep! At any point in any gear, you can clutch in and brake to a complete stop. As long as you leave it in gear, the transmission will stop with the drivetrain, and then you can shift it into first gear. Hope this helps! I’m planning on doing a video explaining as much as I can about shifting these transmissions sometime soon.
Did you go under the 13' 5" bridge? Dropping the air in the air bags will give you more clearance on the truck and will also help height of the entire vehicle.
Yep, I knew I had a couple inches of clearance with the stacks, I was more worried about the roll-tite trailer behind me because I normally don’t pull that and don’t know for sure what it’s actual height is.
Kudos to dealing with the “bumps” in the road without flipping out! Cool vids and good vibes. Is this your personal truck or company ride? Sorry if you answered this before. I just stumbled on the channel.
Thanks man! It is my own truck, bought it last September and already had the power divider explode and the engine rebuilt! It’s been an expensive venture so far...
I’ve been pulling tandem axle trailers the last few weeks while this whole covid19 thing is messing with the heavy stuff. I’ll be back on trains soon enough
Don't get too lost or you'll end up like that old boy in 2018...10,000$ bail, truck impounded and he sat in county jail for several weeks. Followed his GPS, turned onto a weight restricted road and there was old smokey. Be careful up there, I live in PA and the diesel bears are full grown grizzlies, 😂

For me it helps keep my back straight. I used to slouch forward constantly while going down the road and my back would be aching by the end of the day. Dropping the seat basically forces you into a better posture, my back hurts way less nowadays!
