A very good battle report. I like close games, those are the most exciting. Also liked the tactics around the walls! Thank you for filming the pyschic phase, it made the battle report more enjoyable, so please keep doing it for the Thousnd Sons.
Haven't Infiltrators got 'concealed positions', not 'deepstrike'? Not that anyone who comes here really gives a shit, but something to note going forward :)
killshot strategem also adds plus one to wound, so lascannons and hunter killer missiles wouldve wounded on twos, and the predator auto cannons on threes
Cabalistic Focus is used when casting A Psychic Power to get +2 to The Psychic Test... Also, still running the Tzaangors in teams of 10, even though you have third Troop in the Rubrics... And not even throwing one of the littleones to soak some damage ahead with Dark Matter Crystal... Tzeentch clearly has plans for you...
@@StrikingScorpion82 No probs. Just in case it was a missread. I recall it happening twice in this report, so had to make sure. But really should go 15-15 on the Tzaangors. That ain't nasty yet. My 30-30-20... Now that's nasty... Only reason it's not 30-30-30, 'cose I haven't bothered to buy the last 10 yet. XD
Always nice to viewing a Battle Report from here and this was really a close one. The result surprised me, but that is what I love about these games. Nothing is ever certain. Keep up the amazing work Luke.
James - I think you had this game, just playing a little more tactically by skipping your psychic phase which avoided TS characters from getting a deny the witch to score a point, and possibly not having Captain Achoran consolidate closer to Tzaangor's/TS characters which easily allow them to see him and pick off him off to score warlord and more... Regardless, this was a great fight and I love seeing the Ultra's in battle, great job guys.
Would like to point out killshot gives +1 to wound against vehicles and monsters meaning a lot more saves should of been taken (counted at least 1 lascannons and 3 autocannons) and the stormbolters wounding on 4’s as well against them.
around 55 minutes james used might of heros on a intersessor squad, "toughen then up as scorpion put it" That does not work. Might of Heros targets models so only one intersessor would get +1 toughness, and if your squad has different toughness, they recieve the wound rolls based on the lower toughness
@ppmi2002 Interesting... its pretty cool to know that I can buff my sargent in the case he has a single heroic partner alive and that would effectively help the whole unit. Dont think it will even come up in matched play games, but its ok for narative/casual ones
Gaze of Fate was clarified in the FAQ to be a dice reroll, not a single reroll. So if you use the Gaze of Fate reroll for a charge, for example, you reroll both die, not just one of them.
@@LichLordKrull oh you're right, i misunderstood that. crazy. and it was originally ruled that you rerolled the entire roll? how on earth did I get this rule completely backwards both before and after the FAQ?
Luke - I don’t play Thousand Sons but it seems to me with the Inferno Bolt Guns you could light up Ultramarines all day with Bolter Discipline and -1 AP Have you thought about taking more instead of maulerfiends / tzaangors?
Would change the style of my army. I go Tzangors and Maulerfiends as a distraction attack whilst the deadly Psykers move up. Seems to work...James army here is one of the top armies on the channel:)
I was wondering. What are your thoughts about the Combat Patrol Scenarios for 40K? It would be nice to perhaps see some of that content on your channel or perhaps even just your thoughts on potential lists that you might use for them. I would be very curious about the kind of list you would use for the Tau in a Combat Patrol Scenario. In any case still loving your work.
Getting back into the game after watching your videos. Having trouble wrapping my head around your screens for your characters. I don't understand how a unit out of line of sight can screen a character that is in line of sight. What's the logic I'm missing here?
The rules for shooting at characters says they can only be targeted if they are the closest visible target. By hiding your men behind the boxes/walls meant your characters were the closet visible target. The ultramarines player could have spent turn two shooting at your characters as you hid all of your other models.
Characters can be shot if they're the closest VISIBLE unit to the firing unit. Units that are out of sight around corners and behind walls don't count.
Noooooooooooope! This was how the Character rule used to work in the very early days of 8th edition. But after some people would use rhinos to LOS block their own units but leave only characters visible to shoot them, GW brought down the hammer. The only way to target characters is if they are the closest enemy model. No ifs and buts about it. You then check if you can see the character model. (And of course the character needs to have less than 10 wounds) Hell, if you have weapons that don't need LOS to shoot (like mortars) it doesn't matter. If the character isn't the closest model you don't get to shoot him. On a side note, characters cannot be used to screen other characters. So long as there are no non-character models that are closer, you can target any of the characters you can see. If there's a lieutenant 5 inches away and a captain 10 inches away, if there are no non-characters in between you can choose to shoot at either of them.
How come the TS don’t have the smite nerf like the GK? And I don’t think you can cast Might of Hero’s on a unit, think it’s just a single model power. Great game, James can all the TS cowardly for hiding lol

StrikingScorpion82; I might have missed it, where do you get your objective markets from?

Infiltrators deep strike? I thought that they deployed like scouts.
Indeed, Infiltrators have "concealed position" which allows them to deploy wherever more than 9" away.
@@francoispetrucci4867 But, 9" away from the enemy deployment zone during deployment.
I don't think the auxiliary grenade launcher lets you throw two grenades per squad.
You are right, the auxiliary grenade launcher only change the range of the grenade to 30" it is still a Grenade weapon, so only one shot per unit
ok ...interesting:)
If I recall, Infiltrators deploy like Space Marine Scouts, in the deployment phase. Not as Deep Strikers.
