I've been using Miko on and off since she was released and still don't understand why people have the complaints they do. She isn't a god tier unit but she's really good. As far as how long she takes at least the most logical rotation is Miko, other units then Miko burst and reset up. As for the totems refreshing kokomi's jellyfish and oz don't nuke the enemies, the totems do. That's the difference

    • @silverYolo

yae actually doesn't have any (serious) problems. the real issue, as was the case for kazuha, yelan, etc is that people will make a statement to the affect of "idk why you'd want them given the current roster" which is true, and people extrapolate it into "this character has major issues/is useless/etc"
yae is fine, people were just upset she wasn't completely changing the meta by nuking more than raiden or applying more electro than fischl or any number of other things

There's one thing people seem not to understand with Yae's rotation.
It's meant to be a 2 phase rotation. Phase one is 3E. Phase 2 is Q 3E. You're supposed to use a 15 second, 2 phase rotation for maximum output, with Yae being step 3 for Phase 1, and step 1 for Phase 2 for maximum uptime.

Yep, because her E doesn't snapshot anyway you can set up other supports before her burst (which does snapshot) which leads to a much smoother rotation than simply EEEQEEE that everyone loves to complain about. It also helps that her burst already extends rotations in the first place so may as well just delay using it until the end of the team rotation.

    • @LuddyFish_

This is pretty much how I've interpreted her playstyle as well. It just seemed unreasonable to use her burst without getting the damage off turrets first, much like how many people use Kokomi's burst to keep jellyfish up 100% of the time. This mechanic I've found synergies with Tighnari really well as you can switch between the two and complete full rotations with max damage output.
But again, I do wish she had i-frames on her e skill as it really feels like she should be able to dodge, and Hoyo falsely sold her as a great dodger in her demo.

There was a rumour running around after miko’s release that her design suffered substantial changes mid or late into development to fit future dendro teams. I don’t know how much of that is true but it would explain why she has all those features for the sake of having features like constantly disappearing totems. The talent that gives back totems after burst feels more like a part of her burst and her EM scaling was useless until dendro came 6 months later. Because of all this she offered pure skill and burst damage with internal conditions to play around. Her high burst cost could be compensated by her “partner” Raiden and her high burst cd had a synergy with the said Raiden at c6.
All this made her feel incomplete, clunky, and ultimately mediocre. So tight release schedule with mid development reworks at least kind of explains a lot.

    • @Axterix13
      @Axterix13 2 года назад +4

I think she has the EM buff to her elemental skill because they knew Dendro was coming, yes. But the rest of it, I don't think was impacted by it.
I think, instead, that the split between burst and elemental skill damage wasn't what the common player was looking for. You look at Yae, and you expect the turrets to be the main focus. And the constellations kind of push that narrative, with three of the four being tied to her elemental skill. The problem, though, is that the C0 damage on her turrets is pretty meh. And when you combine that with her wanting more on-field time to place those turrets, she felt lackluster to most people. And so, in terms of meta, you mostly saw her used for her burst. Also, didn't help that her normals lack range and are kind of slow, so she doesn't feel good on field. So, basically, her design didn't meet people's expectations.

Yae's playstyle as a dps is fun in a sense that she can play a comp that not one character will take a long time on-field (i.e., you have to continuously cycle through characters in short intervals). The continuous rotation however will eventually strain you unless you really want to execute her unique dps gameplay.

  • @tetsuclaw
    @tetsuclaw 2 года назад +37

Well I dont do E x3 > Burst > E x3 in one go for Yae usually. Normally I do E x3 > cycle my other 3 supports > Burst > E x3. That allows her initial 3 casts of her E to give some damage value and not only be just to allow burst and her burst will be stronger right after supports are cycled giving a higher overall output. Yae Miko feels a lot less clunky treating her this way with burst near the end of her totem duration instead of right away. This does take practice to pull off so you burst with all 3 totems up.

Yae is directly based on the one Kyuubi/Nine Tails herself, Tamamo-no-Mae, one of the 3 greatest Yokai of Japan. Tamamo originated from China, supposedly the spirit of an evil fox who disguised herself as an empress and escaped to Japan after being discovered, interestingly this exact mythical being is referenced by Yelan as the Hulijing, Fox Spirit.
This Fox Spirit is known in myth and common culture as a "manipulative shapeshifting fox in the form of a woman", used to describe evil women in power either politically or in modern times women who seduces and steals men from their partners. You can see this being expressed with Yelan's skillsets as a secret agent to gather info and Yae's extremely manipulative personality to manage her business and get people to perform shrine duties. Luckily both character's manipulations are for the greater good.
Yae also has a direct reference to Tamamo with the name of her skill Sesshou Sakura, based on the Sesshou Seki, Killing Stone. Sesshou means kill/murder, the Killing Stone is the form Tamamo took after her "death", it's supposedly a stone that will kill anyone on touch, as a form of protection for her and an expression of her evil. Sesshou Sakura means Killing Cherry Blossom, it expresses Yae's psychopathic tendencies, which is also shown with her idle animation where she kills a bird with the Sesshou Sakura and laughs, contrasting Raiden's animation where she carefully allows a bird to perch on her hand. Yae looks like a nice person but is actually sociopathic and manipulative, while Raiden looks scary, she is actually nice.
Because Yae actually enjoys killing, she prefers to inflict pain slowly with the least amount of effort on her own and sadistically watch her victims suffer, as shown in her PV trailer. This is reflected in how her skill works, she places 3 Sesshou Sakura who does the job for her while she dances around her victims. Her burst also shows her sadistic smile while she ends her playthings.
EDIT: Also one last thing, Yae only has 5 tails because she is 500 years old, the Fox Spirits are said to grow a tail every 100 years, Kyuubi has 9 tails because she was 900 years old.

    As a C6 Yae main my concerns are quite similar to the video;
    1. Her C1 should've been something else and lower her energy cost/increase her own ability to generate particles. Hoyo intentionally created a 90 energy problem to sell you this con, which is egregious imo.
    2. Her E skill is not that much of a deal once you figure out how to maneuver, although there are no s, you can still do some fun dodging with it.
    3. Comparing Yae C0 to Fischl C6 isn't exactly a "fair" comparison, as to get a specific 4 star to C6 you need 234 rolls on average (this is ignoring star glitter exchanges and event welfares), which is about C1 5 star on average (based on the average of 105 pulls per featured 5 star character). Again, these are average numbers, your mileage will vary.
I'm enjoying her more than ever thanks to Dendro reactions. She isn't meta defining, but will always have a spot in my teams as I love using her.

    • @Talguy21
      @Talguy21 2 года назад +3

To be fair about the C0 5-star vs C6 4-star question, while that may be somewhat fair to apply to standard banner 5-stars, a limited 5-star like Miko is a very deliberate and calculated expenditure for a low-spending player. While it may be a similar number of total pulls in theory, often unless you REALLY like the character or the constellation is that insane a player will just stop at C0. By contrast all 4-stars are in the standard pool and can very much just show up regardless.

It is completely fair to compare a C0 5* to a C6 4*. Most people don't aim to get cons on 5* characters (You can get 9 4* characters with the same rolls that it would take to get 1 5*) and (F2P mostly) unless you're lucky, you'll end up with a ton of C6 4* and no C1+ 5*, like me.

Only after a while people realised that doing EEE into Q EEE is as stupid as pressing both E and Q on Fishl at the same time. I see you seem to think that it is her "correct" rotation too. Well, no. You EEE first, then cycle through your team attacks/buffs, then come back and Ult. And if you messed up and turrets disappeared just dont use Q in this rotation. And boom! • @Hawkbreath36

Been a miko main since she came home on my first pull during her first banner. While I don't think she's a perfect character by any means, I have always found her issues to be way overblown.
Miko has always been a character that has required a few more braincells to operate than otherr off field characters, and thats what makes her so fun to play. Her low defense and lack of I-frames on her E means that (if your playing without shields like I do) you need to be a lot more careful with your positioning and movement. I actually use her E to dodge all the time, because most enemies have such a long windup that getting out of the way and repositioning myself isn't that hard. It just took practice. The other non issue I see with her is that she doesn't play super well with traditional comps/supports, meaning you need to get a bit more creative with her team building.
I run her in a comp of Sayu, Sara, Yae, Ayato. This comp works really well against groups of enemies, but less so bosses, but I can still throw her into a team with Kaz and make her work. The one thing that Yae does better than anyone else is consistent pressure. Between her, Sara's buffing, and Sayu's swirl, most groups of enemies are dead by the time Ayato comes out to use his E. The rotation is really smooth and loops into itself really well.
I start by putting out Yae's turrets > then Sara buff Ayato to snapshot his ult > Sara buff Sayu's ult for big swirl damage > Sara ult (nobless) > reset Yae's turrets, catching Sara's buff in the mean time > Sara buff Ayato, because his E and Sara's buff have the same duration > Yae ult, catching the tail end of the Nobless buff if played correctly > rinse and repeat.
Ayato's second Sara buff offers some extra flexibility if needed, because she has an extra buff loaded on her charged shot which I can give to Yae if the nobless buff falls off. Yae begins and ends my rotation, which makes her ult consumption of her turrets another non issue for me. She has 100% uptime on her turrets, which hit for 10k without buffs on my build, and has such strong electro application that Sayu's swirls shred enemies within the field of death. Since this is a taser team where Ayato is off field most of the time, I don't have to build any ER on him meaning he is absolutely cracked to the gills with crit, and he bursts on cool down. Yae is a character you have to build to her strengths which means potentially building her with unconventional supports to make her work. She was never a bad character, she just requires a few more braincells than most genshin players are used to/willing to put in.

That way it also works with other catalyst users that have shorter burst CD without giving them excessive duration. Could also shorten the normal duration of the stacks to accomodate to that. Like make them las 12s or something.

I don't have her sadly but my take on her skill is that if there was a hold version where she placed all three totems in the typical triangular formation at once, it would at least shave a second or two off of her field time of having to replace them after her burst eats them up. Alternatively her burst could simply not remove them and instead refresh the duration as opposed to her having to replace each one resulting in a lost of DPS.

    • @Axterix13
      @Axterix13 2 года назад +1

Refreshing the duration wouldn't work with her weapon. And a hold would be a bit of a drawback, much of the time, as she'd be in one place for the entire hold duration. Her zipping around while placing her turrets is what lets her avoid getting smacked quite a bit. Remove that and, well, low hp, low poise, low defense character...
Honestly, I don't think the problem is the time she spends on field, but rather, the benefit of her doing so. The turrets need to hit harder. People don't complain about Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Raiden, Itto, or Eula spending 3x the time on field as Yae to do their thing. Why? Because the numbers are worth it.

What players commonly mistake with Miko
    1. "Her Burst is hardlocked with her turrets" mentality. This mentality narrows the players vision, causing them to panic whenever they see Miko's Burst up, ending with them pulling the most stupid rotation for Miko which is Triple Skill - Burst - Triple Skill. When you look at her cons, passives AND scale numbers, her turrets are supposed to be her Main source of Damage and her Bursts is simply additive to it. If you see Miko's Burst ready and you don't have Turrets, just deploy them and switch out, then use her Burst when you feel like the Turrets are almost out, prepared what is needed, or has done enough damage. I know the huge scaling and no ICD is tempting, but don't let it be the main play for her.
    2. "Bad at AoE" aspect. Miko is NOT Fischl. Her Turrets have mini AoE but I won't promote that since it's basically non-existent. Her Burst however...... Now THAT is AoE-gasm. I know it may sound opposite to the first point I made, but her Burst is just 😍. This is especially obvious when you add in Dendro Quicken and/or Anemo Gather. The fact her Burst has no ICD means EVERY SINGLE UNIT hit with Quicken WILL aggravate PER lightning. Then add her raw scaling for each strike.... I'm drooling just thinking about it.
    3. Her NA/CA attacks are cluncky, but that doesn't really mean her NA doesn't do anything. In fact, it's free AoE Electro. There are situations where you need to apply electro on an area, but you are tight in the rotation or have no available skills to proc AoE electro, so her single NA will basically provide that for you. Note: I'm NOT promoting ON-FIELD Yae.
There are so many misconceptions about Yae, but I see these three the most.

As a Yae main, I can say her burst reset is one of her better setups, especially pre c2. Typically I burst her when I need to move the totems (with all the damage being a bonus). So i don’t think it is awkward or needing fixed as you say. I will say dendro aggrevate really redeemed her; nice for my c0 Yae carrying me through abyss runs 😀

I've always been hearing she's good in aggravate, but I don't hear hyperbloom often enough. Like, use gilded dreams set with em sands and atk circlet assuming u have verity or widsith and she deals 20k+ hyperbloom damage and em sands increases her aggravated damage. Y'all don't have to worry about her raw turret damage since a 4pc gilded alone gives you 230 em which increases your turret dmg (80 em from 2pc, 150 from 4pc)
    Edit:
if you guys are interested in quickbloom Yae comp, here's the composition:
    Kokomi, Sucrose, Dendro Traveler/Nahida, Yae
The reason why Sucrose is so good is because she boosts Yae's em by 200+ assuming you have 700-800 em on Sucrose. More em on Yae means more aggravated and hyperbloom damage.

I think it's silly to expect characters to have ridiculously similar kits to the point that they'd be interchangeable.
I personally view the vulnerability of her on-field time as an opportunity for skill expression: you can dodge some incoming attacks without burning stamina. I use it all the time again Ruin Guards and whatnot. Just treat the quirk like a perfect counter using Beidou's skill: Sure, you can mess it up, but that possibility is what makes it feel even more rewarding when you do get it right.
Considering that clunkiness is a common property among catalyst users, Yae's actually on the more agile end of the scale since her 3 skill charges can also be weaved with some dashes to cover quite a bit of distance.

She's a solid case of the playerbase had assumptions in their mind, and continually misjudged her based on those first impression assumptions.
Like even in this video, a major misconception is trying to place her turrets, then immediately bursting before replacing her turrets. Aka the EEEQEEE playstyle. Of course she'll use up field time if you waste her mechanics like that. You're wasting an entire rotation.
If you focus on her skills only, her 14 sec turrets fit neatly in a 15 sec rotation team (think Keqing aggravate for example) and she doesn't take up field time. You can put her burst in easily for 20sec rotations, as long as you prep the field first, and do your team rotation before using her burst (almost like a reverse of how you use Yoimiya). And even if she is using more field time than a button press, she offers stamina free mobility and high damage.
And she isn't a Fischl replacement. She's an off field carry. You'd use her with Fischl like you would Keqing. Fischl may have serious A4 damage, but Yae's EM scaling means she abuses Nahida's and Sucrose's buffs. And if you put her on field, she drives Fischl's A4 hard too.
She just has a higher learning curve than several other characters. Aside from maybe some animation lag, she isn't a bad character, never was, people just assumed she was.

If you use eee into q and then eee then you are using Yae Miko very wrong. You should almost never use her combo like that. The proper way to do it is to eee then set up your supports go back to Yae press q and then eee again then repeat. This makes sure your totems have 100% uptime while also adding reaction damage during rotation setup. Also do not bother to try and get her burst up every rotation for a c0 Miko. Just burst every other rotation. Her energy needs are too high to lower her personal damage to meet it. The totems damage is more important.

Not really my point in this long ass comment, but Yae has really good teams outside of dendro, and she was already really good, people just nitpicked on her issues a lot more often.
Anyway, I'll try to explain Yae's kit philosophy from what I understand about it.
First of all, Yae and Fischl are the only 2 characters in the game who have 2 really strong features together:
    - Having most of their damage linked to their skill
    - Their skill attacks not depending on anything aside from range (Nahida and Albedo require you to do reactions/dmg to the enemies)
Basically, for the first point, Yae can be used bursting every other rotation, which makes her ER requirements NOT important (you shouldn't build ER on Yae) and Fischl, while she wants to burst everytime her skill is down to refresh Oz, she just needs to do it every 24s so she doesn't need any ER as well. Characters like Xingqiu, Yelan, Xiangling, Shenhe have really good numbers, but due to their high burst reliance they need to trade dmg substats for ER.
The second point is really interesting, as it basically means, whatever the situation is, her totems will always be dealing damage (unless obv electro immunity or whatever) unlike characters like Yelan, Beidou and Thoma, who require you to be constantly attacking in order to maximize their potential.
Having an off field dps with no restrictions on her attacks, with no ER requirements, 15s duration on her totems and 100% uptime, while also having a nuke every other rotation is REALLY unique and strong, and that's why I believe they intentionally made her have a higher field time than others (and also to keep the reference to Ahri hehe) obviously this leads to other issues like her dashes not having I-frames and her also being squishy, but that's something we have to play around tbh

The best way to make Yae insanely great is turret prioritize enemies without electro element, Yae's turret has ICD of 3 sec (the ICD is on enemy btw) so tecnically if she's able to hit 3 of the attack on different enemy you could maximized her Quicken/Aggravate with the help of Nahida. It's pointless if all 3 of the lightning hit the same enemies, yae's turret atm is pretty random most of the time you get 2 hit on the same enemy and another on random one.

Most of Yae's problems do still exist.
Her field time can definitely be worked around by starting with the triple E and then come back after a short time to drop her Burst and then refresh the skills, to get value out of the first three.
However her 22s Cooldown is a death sentence that still strongly holds her back. She's super frontloaded and great for content where you need just one rotation, but otherwise she falls behind her competetion.
As for Aggravate, being an off-fielder is not particularly the key. The absolute ridiculous source of Aggravate Teams comes from Fischl's A4, which strikes enemies when Electro reactions are triggered. Which has no ICD and will always Aggravate.
However, Miko can be used on field to drive Fischl's Aggravate team as an alternative to Keqing. (Other Electros can do so too actually.)
Otherwise she's still a bit of problem child, but if it works, it works.

Comparing Miko to Beidou is like comparing a gun to a long sword respectively. Yae’s sort of the middle ground also when it comes to Genshin’s ranged electro damage dealers nowadays. Would any of you pick Lisa over Yae Miko though?

I use both. I have c6 Lisa, and with Yae together they destroy everything. Lisa fits in perfect too with yae rotations. Just drop totems, use support bursts. Switch in Lisa, burst, hold e, then back to Yae to burst/totem. Its a grand old time. Plus it still works with the old Mona Lisa combo. Yae totems first, then mona burst, hold E lisa, then Yae burst ect.

Just summoned her the other day, my first 5 Star Electro and I am very happy and grateful to have her!

Yae is a really good unit who occasionally feels bad to play. I'd be way more frustrated with her if I didn't have Nahida and a well-built c6 Fischl. I-frames during totem dashes would make her feel so much better. Her burst refreshing her totems would be borderline broken but I'd still take it if offered.

I have always enjoyed Yae Miko, and I'm not the fastest at swaping so I never found much problems with her play style.

My favorite and most powerful Yae Miko team right now
    Fischl
    Yae Miko
    Xingqiu
Dendro MC (you can use Nahida too I presume I just don't have her)
Yae can have some serious personal damage but also having free hyperblooms makes the team OP in single target.
    You absolutely melt enemies
plus Yae Miko on field is really fun
I recommended everyone try this team!!

Nahida (deepwood Em build, signature weapon),Zhongli (Noblesse,EB every rotation), Kuki(Guilded dreams EM, Xiphos sword), Yae Miko ( thundering Fury EM build, the widsith weap). This is my favorite comp right now. I wasnt going to pull her even tho I wanted to. I did in the end. Glad I did it. This comp makes me fall out of my chair laughing my ass off while everything dies after the first rotation all on its own without pressing a single extra button.

Pulled her yesterday, couldn´t be happier. I failed to do so on her original release by a couple of pulls. 1 or 2 to be specific.
Now I saved up 80 pulls and lost to Mona in a 50/50 (its good that I got Mona at least because I couldn´t handle another diluc).
Not wanting to loose again to the banner, I started to go after chests and Electrocolus, upgraded the Sakura Tree and got her on 65th pull.
I finally got her and all the work was worth it.

I've never seen how Yae could be bad in damage since I got her so didn't really have a problem. Just got used to how slow she dances around

I love everything Kitsune, and she's the reason I got Genshin and thankfully pulled her this Banner. I cant wait to learn and see what I can do with her.

My reason in the past not to pull for her is because her level ascend items were out of reach for me at the time. Till this day I haven't battled the boss for one of the essential materials, which I also need for Shenhe, who is limited to level 40 atm.

Vars, I love your videos, but Tighnari isn't made to apply dendro. Like, I will die on this hill if I have to.
