    "Because I'm a setter" The way I had tears in my eyes the first time I've watched this scene. We've never heard such a geniune and sweet child-like declaration of love for their position from someone and it really hit me.
    You know the play you pulled off is fucking insane when the coach of the opposing team stands up to applaud you, as a form of respect as a former setter.
    That whole thing was my personal highlight of the episode. But it's really hard because there were so many amazing moments in this one.

    The utter perfection of the concept: When you're scared, just ask for help.
    It's another one of Haikyuu's gems, a simple concept that is nevertheless so powerful and filled with empathy and understanding that it just gives you the motivation to be better.

  • @Seeeyog
    @Seeeyog 8 месяцев назад +111

    Some Tidbits that I found worth mentioning for this episode:
    9:03 The anime omitted crucial lines explaining why Nishinoya struggled with overhand receives, "his habit of stepping back before the underhand receive", it allowed him to adjust if needed, whether for a drop or a powerful serve aimed at the backline. This instinctive behavior caused issues when dealing with overhand receives. Kinoshita's command for Nishinoya to move forward wasn't just about reacting to the short serve; it aimed to counteract Nishinoya's instinct of stepping back and ensure he moved in the forward direction.
    10:04 The chapter and volume concluded with Noya pointing and clenching his fist towards Kinoshita. Following this were flashbacks of Yamaguchi, Ennoshita, and Narita's heroic moments. The chapter wrapped up with Kinoshita doing the same gesture, with the title "The Guardian's Hero" written beneath his clenched fist (which gave me chills), highlighting the Kinoshita's moment, also, Great Reaction Ange! Loved it!😂
    14:02 Ukai appreciating Atsumu's amazing low set was a standout scene, made even more meaningful by Ukai's past as a setter.

    • @selensewar
      @selensewar 7 месяцев назад +1

      Season 4 suffered a lot compared to the rest. Despite it still having epic moments, despite animation being good when it matters, they still omitted a lot of things i think were very important to include, like what you sait about Noya and Kinoshita, and even in later episodes. I still like it a lot, but it's the only season that i think worked better for me as a manga.

    Kinoshita is definitely MVP imo, he's the Hero that the episode title references, and he bounced back from an agonizing point on the court to help out Noya, contributing in his own way. He's the person Noya 'asked' for help.
    If not him, I'd actually give it to Atsumu over Noya tbh. His dedication to his teammates, his drive to get better because of his brother, and the way he encapsulates what it means to be a setter gets fully fleshed out here and I find it pretty moving. Specifically that scene where he says 'Because I'm a setter!'. Its such a simple line, but it means everything to him.
    sidenote, i love kinoshita's reaction to his serve. the way the camera shakes, the way his voice cracks and is aching, the way he wanted to have an impact on the court, it hits me in the heart every time and gets me emotional. but the way it sets up for that future moment is just great, he deserves mvp fr 😤

  • @ImAviex
    @ImAviex 7 месяцев назад +75

    The anime doesn't really explain it, but a big reason why Noya struggled with Miya's float serve is because when you receive a spike serve you take a step back, where as with floaters you step forward so the ball is by your head rather than chest or stomach. Noya's back step was built into his muscle memory, and it was second nature. So Kinoshita telling him to step forward helped him react correctly.

    When I first saw the part with Atsumu's set, it struck me to my core.
    He is a fierce competitor with a big ego and he doesn't hesitate to call his spikers out for not performing, always seemed to me that he's not the most empathetic person, but he revealed a very tender and caring side that I simply did not expect. But it makes so much sense when you think about it and it ties into his mindset and mentality beautifully.
    Love that!

    I love this match against Inarizaki, and Nationals in general, because they manage to pay off every little set-up from the whole show before, everything feels earned, is so touching... Nothing feels rushed, or out of nowhere, and you are rewarded for paying attention to little moments.
    Looking forward to your reaction to the last few episodes, so many little (and big) moments that are incredible, I'm sure you will be on fire ! (also I still have tears in my eyes writing this, and it's not even the part that most justifies it... I'm going to once again die, and I'm gonna love every second of it)

    When I was watching S4 for the first time, I was thinking that they are going to do another YAMAGUCHI with Kennoshita. But, I was so happy they did not. I loved how the author gave the message through Kinnoshita that you should have the drive to perform good, results are just the biproduct. You can contribute through different means and still get involved. As Ange has said in one of the episodes, that the author has made characters with all the different kinds of personality. And he tries to give different messages through different characters even if they are there for just 1 episode. I can praise the writing of Haikyuu all day.❤❤

    The twins are like if Hinata and Kageyama had played together since they were kids. Not just in how in sync they are on the court, but the way Osamu pushes back against Atsumu. It's all about what Hinata was saying earlier in the season about how it's normal to argue. Kindaichi and the other guys in Kitagawa Daiichi didn't push back and argue with Kageyama the way Hinata does, which held them back. No such problem for Atsumu, he always had a guy who'd dropkick him for being a tyrant.

  • @cruzgio
    @cruzgio 7 месяцев назад +6

    Some might just thought that Kennoshita's contribution to that play is that he shouted "Move up" to Nishinoya. But it is much deeper, Kennoshita helped Noya trained his overhand receives during the training arc kf Season 4. So the "Hero" title of the episode really meant Kennoshita.

  • @selensewar

    "Hero of the God of the Defense", i love it. Not everyone has to have that epic moment when they crumble the enemy to dust. Kinoshita's epic moment is being the hero of someone who's a deity to him and to people around him. I love it so much.

    I think Kinoshita got robbed of MVP. The whole concept of Nishinoya's flashback was to establish that he couldn't do this on his own because he was scared. Kinoshita helps BECAUSE Nishinoya can't do it on his own. The facilitator is Kinoshita, yes the ball was received by Noya, but even he gives credit to Kinoshita. Noya acknowledges that the hero here was not himself, but Kinoshita.

    • @sparkdzulfikar
      @sparkdzulfikar 7 месяцев назад +1

      Right, just like Osamu to Atsumu. Kinnoshita is the hero to Nishinoya as well. You don't have to get an epic moment, sometime just being there to provide support to someone is EPIC too, in fact that's the Hero ultimate move.

  • @fonamandeylives4824
    @fonamandeylives4824 7 месяцев назад +4

    Fun fact (someone has probably already said this): but in the chapter for the twins this episode, Furudate titles the chapter as ‘Love’, which can be interpreted multiple ways from Atsumu’s unrequited and relentless love and passion for his role as a setter. But personally I’d also like to interpret it as the twins (more so Osamu to Atsumu) own way of showing care to each other (it’s subtle but Osamu always looked out for Atsumu when he was aware that others disliked him, or he always made a way to make him feel included albeit aggressively haha)
    Common saying: atsumu is all bark while osamu is all bite sksksksksk

    ive never noticed it, but I love the juxtaposition between Kita's grandmother and the lessons he learned from her against what Noya learned from his grandfather. We're socially wired to think that one is going to be better or more wise or a better role model, but the show let two very different but fantastic people learn from their very different elders in very different ways. Just like there is value to be found in every person on a bench or in the stands no matter how seemingly inconsequential, we have so much to learn from everyone if we just open our minds to the possibility

To Hinata it shows that there are more people out there that can make him shine (meaning he dont need to depend on Kageyama in the future if he wants to keep playing) and to Kageyama, well, meeting awesome rivals allways help you grow and Miya is perfect for that for him.
    The next episode is real PEAK of the season. Wait for it
