    Great video! I started collecting all kinds of kitchen stuff in turquoise when I was a kid and lived at home. Had quite a bit when I was on my own. Just redid my kitchen last year, all white cabinets, marble (Quartz) counter tops, glass doors on some cabinets. All my turquoise dishes and serving pieces peeking out of glass. Dark turquoise paint on wall by window when you walk in and on doorway when you walk out. Love it! What's also great is I have memories of when I found different items at a flea market, yard sale, store sale and whom I was with when I bought it! TFS

      @verikeri2849  9 лет назад

      +Shelley Meyers Sounds like a beautiful kitchen. I too remember where and when and with whom I was with when I purchased most of my pieces. Such great memories make for great stories. When someone asks me about a piece that I purchased I always have a good story to tell :) I loooove to hunt for things. It took me 11 years to find the exact kitchen garbage can that I conjured up in my head. I absolutely love throwing away garbage now...lol.

    Melanie + I were waiting patiently for this video.....Finally!!!! :) I LOVE...how you broke it down! I cannot believe the price difference. It all looks so similar. I love the wine tip...lol as well as using your decanter to serve soup. Love it!!! Great use of the wheat grass centerpiece. Your nails were on point...matching your copper accessories. I know how much you adore copper! I really love this video. Thanks so much for taking the time to help us all save my dear friend! XOXOXO

Oh, you like my ombre nails...my nail technician suggested I try something new. You know I had to go for the blush and copper combination...lol. It's different but I don't know if I'll get it again. xooxoxox

    Excellent #!! You are TRULY showing people how to live luxuriously on a reasonable budget. Many times on shows they will say, "Get the look for less ! William Sonoma sells this can opener for $70.00. We got it for $55.00 at Macy's. Yay!". Um no. Both are overpriced. Getting the same thing for $10 by being patient is what you are doing. Great job. You can show people better than you can tell them. I will refer folks to this vid.

      +Living Luxuriously for Less Girrrl, make up your mind....do you want commercials or sitcoms?? You and Denise both have been begging me to cut the time on my videos....now you want a weekly sitcom...lol!!! So glad you enjoyed the video. Now just because I compare apples to apples.....it doesn't mean I won't end up buying the orange. I need to know WHY something costs more...is there a valid reason like superior quality and/or materials. Or are they just charging more to cover marketing fees....lol.

    Keri, this was the most informative, cost effective and classy video this season. on the hunt for a wine decanter and the wheat bundles. I too have been collecting for my tables cape for years. Going to copy the napkin paper wrap idea. Off topic, love your nails. I do my own gel nails at home and totally painting a glitter ombre effect like yours. You rock!!

    • @verikeri2849
      @verikeri2849  9 лет назад

      +Kathleen Howard (LiveLoveCHXBeach) Awww, thanks! What a huge compliment. You should find a great selection at great prices in Homegoods, TJMAXX, and Marshalls. You can't get any simpler with the paper napkin ring. This was the first time I tried the ombre nails. My nail technician told me that I needed to spice things up a bit and stop being so conservative. She suggested ombre nails....so I picked two of my favorite colors....blush and copper. I love the way they turned out but the process took twice as long as normal. I get what's called SNS/ANC dipping powder. Have you ever tried that before?

    This was an excellent video mainly because you not only set the table divine but you broke down the difference between quality levels. Some people still don't get why items are so costly. If it is hand made, get ready to pay more ( unless it's on sale). If someone is making a glass from scratch with details designs by hand you have to pay more because of the time it cost to make plus material. Thank about the time spent just to make one glass vs using a machine to make a dozen. Another good one is the brass plated vs solid brass or cotton vs linen. It's cool to purchase low end but understand what you are buying. Veri Keri does a great job at explaining the difference so we all can be better shoppers. The dollar store is great and I personally think it is for the single or for a couple because you can buy in smaller packages but buying from these major stores when it's 50-90% off is well worth it and it is probably a lot cheaper than buying each single items for $1. One dollar adds up when you may be able to get it for a fraction of the cost at a major store. Job well done.

    Good things come to those who have the time, energy, mission and patience. Me personally, I would be so afraid to buy 4 knowing I need 8. I would be afraid I would never be able to find the other 4.
    I love China, crystal and flatware. I’m an older lady with several sets and no one to pass them down to. I have read and have been told by my nieces and great niece that it is a thing of the past.
    I don’t know where my love for the pretty things came from. I know for sure it was not my mother. I came from a family of 5 girls and we lived in a very small house. I have tried to create a nice gathering tradition at my home for the holidays. I have a formal dinning room.
    I do agree with your white dishes. I love them. Everything looks beautiful! I will continue to watch you.

    Keri! Again, this is why I subbed your channel. I love how you want to encourage us to use wisdom to buy quality items for our home on a budget. Your tablescapes are always gorgeous and inviting. Thus far this is simply my favorite of all of the great Keri creations. I just completed an arrangement using wheat as well. I like all of your different alternatives for serving soup etc. Your Dollar Tree glassware fits in nicely. Lady, the finishing touches like the menu wrapped around the napkin is going to be copied. Great demonstrative point on using the rule of thumb to align your flatware. And by the way your nails are gorgeous. I also agree with purchasing stemware from open stock. A Iight, natural and clean tablescape....I love it. TFS Keri.

      +sharon cresenzi Thanks!! You are not alone.....we typically spend hundreds also...that is why when I saw that article I was thinking....NO WAY!! We kick off Thanksgiving in the afternoon and "graze" all day until well into the night. We have several appetizers, several meat choices and a slew of desserts, drinks (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic)....and don't forget the leftovers. I noticed the Farmers Association's menu didn't even include mac-n-cheese....what is any Holiday meal without mac-n-cheese?? My husband's mac-n-cheese cost $40 (he uses so many different types of cheese). They also only had milk and coffee as the beverages....really?? Looks like I am going to have to be very strategic. Also, with a $50 budget....I will be losing 10 lbs instead of gaining 10 lbs because we won't be able to get a second helping....and Lord knows there will be no leftovers...lol.

    So beautiful. I love this video. As with most things, with time they get better and are more enjoyable. I think that goes for building you serving and dinner ware items. Plus, at least for me, it makes it fun to find the items. I also save my gift cards for just this reason. Should I find an item, even on clearance, if I have a gift card it makes it even better. Take care-Sue

Sometimes it takes me years to find exactly what I am looking for....but I will patiently wait and when I finally find it I get such a rush. I just used a gift card at Target to get some items for our Christmas breakfast tablescape. We are doing a lumberjack themed breakfast and all of the buffalo check plaid that Target Dollar Spot had was perfect!! Thanks for watching.

    I am so looking forward to the $50 Thanksgiving Dinner challenge. When I saw the menu they used I thought no way not my family. I have started collecting my pieces and affordable dinner suggestions will come in handy. tfs

    Just found your channel. Now Bing watching. I have the lion head soup bowls and small condiment size bowls I purchased while in France. The bowls were 3 Euro each and the condiment size ones were only .25 each on sale. I haven't been able to find the soup tureen yet with the same style head on it. I finally broke down and purchased just a plain white one.

      +MsStoneHome Really... the Madison 5 piece set is on sale...I was eyeing that set too and it was like $40. Hold on...let me go check to see if it is on sale online...would make a great xmas gift for a family member. Yep...on sale online for $9.99. The funny thing is they have the 20 piece on sale for $79.99....that is silly because it is more cost effective to purchase 4 of the 5 piece settings for $40....always have to do the math...lol. You and I have such similar tastes when it comes to antiques.

      +Jan Robertson Thanks!! When I read that article it blew my mind....I was thinking there is NO WAY that this can be the average spent on a Thanksgiving meal. My husband's mac-n-cheese recipe sets us back $40. We tend to "graze" on food all day long beginning in the afternoon well into the evening. I am determined to see if I can pull something off for this challenge. This may be the first time I lose 10 lbs instead of gaining 10lbs because there certainly won't be enough for a second helping and guests definitely will not be bringing home leftovers...lol.

    I love to see that you have such taste and elegance. Unless you're watching the food network its rare to see formal table settings. I truly can appreciate the things that you present, because that was the way it was at our house when I was growing up. We set the table nightly and holidays were very formal, crystal, china, silver. We had two built in china cabinets, and a buffet that was loaded with the "good stuff" ...as did all of my elders. Unfortunately none of those things got passed down, as my aunts passed away and my mom down sized none of my siblings or I could foresee hosting dinner parties etc because we thought it was too much work ..(being that back in the day we were the ones stuck in the kitchen doing the dishes) ..lol .. We got lazy and opted for paper plates etc ..(which I detest ..I'm more refined like her) ., but I don't have the knack or patience for hosting myself..even though I find myself collecting the things that I grew up with ..and I'm single and childless..you would think I would be launching a party any minute. I just wanted to express my thoughts on what tradition is, elegance, class and plain old fashioned good manners ...I wish some of us ladies could dress up and meet for tea. wouldn't that be lovely..KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO GIRL ..love u to pieces....:)

    • @verikeri2849
      @verikeri2849  9 лет назад

      +giney Cynical Awww thanks! Growing up, my family was just the opposite. We didn't have any fancy formal serving pieces during the Holidays...and by no means was there ever a tablescape. Our entire family on my mother's side would get together. Each family brought a dish. Some of the food stayed in the pot on the stove and some was on the eat-in kitchen table complete with aluminum foil and all. We had paper plates and cups. After blessing the food we lined up in a single file line and made our plates. To be honest....it didn't even matter that nothing was coordinated....the best part was that "Our Family" was together. The home was filled with love, laughter, games, stories....the things you truly remember. The kids don't remember the exact layout of a fancy tablescape.....but they certainly will remember and tell stories for years to come about how they had to wash all those dishes. I didn't start my love of "coordinated" entertaining until I graduated college and started my professional career. I was introduced to a whole new world of "professionals" and I saw how they did things....and to be honest I really liked it. I was hooked. I am passionate about social graces and entertaining. I love setting beautiful tables. But... what I totally despise are stuffy, stuck-up, snooty, "think you are better than" types that often come along with those that host these kinds of affairs. xoxoxoxo

    What an "eye opening" video! Williams Sonoma and Pottery Barn are two of my favorite stores, however, I know when to draw the line. They need to be spanked for over charging people like that. Your spreadsheet told the truth! Collecting over time is key as well as placing these items on your Christmas/birthday wish list. Your table is absolutely stunning and all the tips and wonderful advise is well taken. You have great style and TFS!

      +silverteacakes Thanks!! I love those stores also.....well let me be honest....I love ANY store...lol. I always find it fascinating how most of the items that you see in the higher end stores can be found elsewhere with either similar or exact quality at a fraction of the price. Also, if you wait long enough many of the items in those stores will go on deep discount also. Glad you liked the video....have a great weekend.

    You can do it, I have done it for years. The key is to start in September buying your food for the holiday. I always buy 2 turkeys in Nov, it cheaper. When I coild only buy food once a month I had to learn.

    • @verikeri2849
      @verikeri2849  9 лет назад

      +bosslady1598 I am certainly going to try. My family tends to have several types of meats and several desserts and appetizers. We also "graze" on food all afternoon and into the evening...so the overall price tends to be higher.....and everyone also goes home with a hearty portion of leftovers. I used to buy several turkeys when they are at rock bottom prices...enough turkeys to last until Easter when they go on sale again. Then I would cook a turkey once a month and use some for Sunday supper, the rest for the kids school lunches (it was much cheaper, better quality and healthier than purchasing deli meat), and then use the carcass to make soup. Thanks for watching.
