After this edit I want to write a story now. Wholly based on their friendship/ what type of relationship such people could have if they were inclined to and possibly met when they were younger.
No need for the preface platonic...soulmates are not just romantic by definition, similar to the Irish concept of Anam Caras, or "soul friends." Whatever one wants to call it, they seem to be it.
