Glad he came back healthier:) the songs are really relatable lyrically. He's indeed good with his words. His vocals can make you feel both sadness and happiness at the same time. Really happy for him making songs that touches the heartstrings.
I agree, with Winner, it’s hard not to think about Jonghyun, and how Onew and Shinee have been irrevocably changed by that, but he’s promising to himself and the listener that he’ll always come out the other side the winner no matter what struggles he goes through. Beautiful stuff to kick off 2025, especially considering world events at the moment. ❤
I know it's still early, but I think Onew's "Winner" may become one of my favorites of 2025. I love the message within the lyrics. We need more positive messages in the world today. People need to know that no matter how bad things might seem at the moment, if they fight through it and don't let other people and outside forces take control, they too can be the winner in the end and can ultimately triumph over all those negative forces and people who are only looking to make themselves feel better by pushing you down. And Onew's powerful vocals are a perfect match for the message and vibe of the song as well. I couldn't imagine a better artist to sing a song like this than our eternal sunshine Lee JinKi. He perfectly understands what it's like to go through hard times and be able to find your way out on the other side and continue to be the winner of your life. Which, I agree, makes this song feel that much more genuine and like he is speaking his own truth, not just singing a good song.
