SAME- I WAS LIKE cold-blooded or hot-blooded? AND THEY (they love horses too) JUST LOOKED AT ME BLANKLY AND I WAS LIKE do u know the benefits/traits of the two? AND THEY WERE LIKE they can…work in different temperatures…?? LMAO
Omg this reminded me of when a friend and me were talking about the mini her small daughter rode, I said she was green off lead and the kid piped up "she's not green.. she's brown and white" this of course made us laugh and afterwards we explained what the term green meant. As she grew up... we never forgot that one phrase she said when she was little 😆
The best thing is when I talk to my dad and use a lot of equestrian terms when talking about horses so he looks at me like I’m speaking a different language. Once I was talking about one of the new draft horses at my barn so I said “oh yeah, he’s a draft” and my dad thought I was using some sort of weird slang so I had to explain what draft horses are.
HORSE CAMP If you are bored, here is a story.... Beginner: can you groom him? Me: sure Me: *goes back to groom the horse I’m using Beginner: can you tack him up? Me: sure, but I have to tack up my horse too... Me: *tacks up horse* Beginner: can you help me walk him to the arena? Me: says nothing, grabs both our horses and goes to the arena Beginner: can you help me up? Me: puts her on the horse, and pushes her horse away EVERYONE RIDES pt 2 Beginner: can you he- Me: takes her off the horse and leads both our horses back to the barn Beginner: can you take my socks off? Btw she was like 5 and should be able to do that herself Me: *doesn’t want to be rude, and proceeds to take her socks off uncomfortably* Me: dodges her the rest of the day
I remember this from when I was younger; One time we were reading a book, The Ickabog by J.K. Rowling, and it said a horse was lame at one point. Everyone else in my class looked extremely confused, but then started laughing. Finally, after my teacher shot a death glare at everyone, I spoke up and said (as the only equestrian in my class), “In equestrianism, lame means that they won’t use their leg because of an injury, illness, etc, Not because they aren’t cool.” Everyone stared at me silently and the teacher nodded her thanks before continuing to read.
@ Little Rascal Eventing - I have found throughout my life that almost all endeavors involving a group interest, there is a lingo or language that goes with it. Several examples are automotive, computers, aeronautics, any animal group (horses, cattle, dogs, cats, etc.), sports, cooking, crafts and the list goes on...
One time when I was little, I had a FrisianxAndulusian hobby horse mare, and my grandma was like, “And here comes Nova, the purebred Frisian!” And I was like, “Oh she’s actually a cross breed, she isn’t a purebred.” And my grandma’s face was absolutely priceless 😂😅
Story time of when i took my friend to the stables I ride at (this happened a few years ago) Me: Ok so who do you wanna ride? We have Cactus, Bear, Montana, Ace..... My friend: Oo what about that one? Me: Oh so that's Oreo but he's lame so you can't ride him. My friend: Uhh I don't care if he's not popular, he's pretty so can I ride him?? Me: Uhh no you can not he has a summer sore on his foot so you can't ride him. My friend: What's a "summer sore" Me: Oh it's like a skin condition My friend: You said he was lame though? Me: Yeah he is, lame pretty much means he's injured My friend: Oh... Then I'll ride Ace
This is me talking to my family and friends. They try to understand but they just don't. But now I'm going to college for horses and I have tons of people who understand me!
Broke, lame, and green. Always wondered what they ment. Green means un trained Lame means the horse is hurt And broke means the horse is most certainly trained. I think
Equestrians lets confuse the non equestrians: Lame, Green, Bit, Bell Boots/ Boots, Bonet, Hunt Seat/ Hunter Jumper, hands If you have any more reply and I’ll edit the comment!
actually about not learning anything in school! my highschool has an equine science course that you can take :) I plan on taking it next year. We also have an equestrian team, which I also plan on joining next year! (I didn't know we had one until the season was over this year)
Once I was telling someone that it would be cool to be horse vet and go to people’s barn to see lame horses and the girl I was talking to just burst out laughing when I said lame
That's nothing! I went to a kids riding camp once. One gelding they had - never left its corral! Another gelding hated children! Uh - okay. Then WHY were these two horses at the camp? That NEVER made any sense to me!
Love you but btw green means in training and unbroken means not trained at all. Horses all are warm bloods but hot blood just means that it is a crazy horse a cold blood means a very chill and calm horse and a warm blood is in between. Love you hope this helps❤️❤️❤️
I once spoke to a person who believed that coldblooded horses are literally cold-blooded like reptiles xD That was an hilarious conversation xD
🤣🤣
XD 😂😂😂😭😂😂😂😂😭😂😭😂😭😂😭😂😭😂😭😂😭😭🤣😂🤯😂😭😂🤯😂🤯🤣😭

Don't forget about hands! That one can really be confusing. XD
@@JCElzinga I am so very sorry you feel that way about the measurement, however hands are the official way to measure a horse.
@@JCElzinga hands is actually the correct measurement
@@JCElzinga we just use centimeters in the netherlands aswell. I think only ppl from the usa use hands
@@JCElzinga racist?💀 wtf are you talking about
@@JCElzinga ok I'm not 6 years old and I do buy have a horse yet. I'm actually working MYSELF to buy one. So if you could stfu😘

We equestrians are so strange, we have our language!
Yes we do!
Lol y’a hahahah
its cause in highschool these girls were not a part of the cool kids group, so they try to be cliquish as possible as adults.

I do this all the time I have to constantly remind myself to use different terms or to immediately explain what I mean
