Haven't been there in 3 years. I live in Fort Lauderdale. One of the most awesome XC trails in FL. Thanks for recording in 4k. Tired of seeing 1080 artifacts lol .
You won't regret it! Alafia is going crazy building new stuff, Balm has Ridgeline, Carter is a blast, Santos is loads of fun and Croom (Drunken Monkey) is all together different!
Another great video and nice save @ 2:12. Though @ 1:14 I seem to recall two trees there. Scared the crap out of me the first time I rode it but it was no big deal after that. Looks like the one that was on the right is no more. Can't wait for the 2018 opening. Ride safe!!
Thanks Joe! I'm looking forward to the 2018 opening as well. Partly to ride the trial but mostly because that means the weather is turning to the better!! :D
Agree on both counts. Looks like some cooler temps and less humidity may be heading our way in the not too distant future. And having Ridgeline open again is like Christmas (though I rarely feel that way when I ride out of there as it feels like I've horked up a lung or two). Kicks my cardio butt each and every time. :)
That turn @ 2:12 has almost gotten all of us at least once. The GoPro effect is serious on this one, the rollers look so much smaller than in reality. Was there a few weeks ago but Ridgeline was closed :(
That turn comes up so fast and blind! I took me 4 trips down that trail to finally remember where it was and not get caught up by it. LoL I haven't been to Balm since they closed it. SWAMP club needs to up their game. Other wise Balm will be known as the XC location and Alafia will be more of a free ride place.
I personally really like Balm Boyette, but its definitely a different feel than Alafia. Gator Pit is one of the coolest ones overall. Have yet to go to Carter Road, what do you think of that one?
Carter is super fun! Hit me up when you wanna go. It's got some small drops, steep rolls, steep climbs, big berms and as much or more flow than Alafia.
People ride all the trails around here at night. I don't think they're very smart, but they do it. haha These abandoned quarries / mining sites make for good MTB parks and yeah, the trail builders do a fantastic job with the terrain. Let me know if you get down this way, i'll show you around!
@@MrTonka show my buddy and I around these trails? We live in Brandon and we ride in the area but we ride to the trails unlike most Florida riders. We're riding out today to Balm Boyette and checking out the trails in there. We've yet to ride anything in Balm but we've done a lot of trails in Alafia and Flatwoods.
Same, my local trail snowhill has just gotten wreck this summer feom rain to point where the entire trail system has basically been unrideable since May.
I don't ride it that often actually. This video was the 2nd time i had ridden it and i've ridden it twice since then. It's pretty much closed all summer because of the rain. Well, not so much because of the rain, but because that trail is really difficult to get to in order to work on it. So they are very strict about no riding when it's wet. And it's wet all summer. :)
Be sure to check the SWAMP club facebook page before driving up. Many times, it's closed the day it rains as well as the day after. It's a hard trail to maintain, so when it rains, they close it until dry.
Great video. This is one of the last trails on my FL trail bucket list. Do you think in general Balm is pretty easy to navigate for a rider who's never been?
I actually prefer when they ride and dont talk every two seconds. Thats the beauty of individuality... he can make his videos how he chooses. Keep doing you, joe.
Nice video; going this coming weekend to Boyette, can't wait!
RL isn't open yet for the season....give it a few more weeks at least
@@ckorte83 Ok, cool 👍
If I ever go Florida again, I'm riding past the amusement park and straight to ridgeline

escaping winter for a 10 day in Jan to ride and fish. Heading to WPalm. I rode Markem last year, going to drive north and check out these trails..

Headed out there this fall. We will be in Ocala 7th 8th and 9th of Nov. if you're around. Great vid once again.
I'm already taking a bit of time off in Nov, so i'm gonna have to stick to weekend riding at that time. :(
A little hot and humid? Nice video.
This was back in March, but as of this point in time, all my brain can recall is hot and humid. haha

It's a lung buster for sure! haha
I'm anxious to try some Florida riding. This winter when I come down I will be doing some exploring for sure
Sweet! I'm out there every Saturday morning for the most part. Shoot me a message when you're here.
@@MrTonka i will for sure thanks
If you’re traveling around Florida, try out Graham swamp. It’s our local trail and is as good or better than anything I’ve ridden in Ocala
I've GOT to get over there sometime soon!
@@MrTonka when i come down unless I pack my bike and fly it with me i need to rent one. Is there any good rental spots down in your area?
Florida seems like a great place to ride great video👍
It is...... in the winter! haha So hot right now!
That surprise left turn is so freaky. I wonder how many people have fallen off there. Or flown off.
I bet a lot! haha

Will do, as the weather cools down I'm 100% in.
Your Florida trails look pretty fun. Gotta give the trail builders props for maximizing the geography. No gators on this one....safe to ride at night?

My favorite trail in Florida
It's easy to see why! :)
I love that trail. So....when are getting that SB130 , Joe !?!
Meh, not sure i'm ready to go back to 29er wheels. We'll see. So many good bike options these days, not even sure i'll stick with Yeti.
@@MrTonka Yetis seem fragile. What about Evil, Canyon, or Scott?
Evil seems like they have some fit and finish issues for such a high price. I like Canyon, Scott seems to be bringing their A game.
Im so itchy for this trail to open again!!
Yeah, Balm doesn't seem the same without it. Soon though!! Soon. :)
Same, my local trail snowhill has just gotten wreck this summer feom rain to point where the entire trail system has basically been unrideable since May.
That stinks! Hopefully it dries out and you get back to shredding soon!
Looking forward to Ridgeline opening up again soon
You and a ton of other people Bill! :D It's a fun one!
Do you think it's open today?
I don't think so. Maybe a week or so longer. :(
@@SailingFrolic my understanding is that it is still closed but maybe open in a week or two
You can check the SWAMP club facebook page for accurate data. :)
Nice looking trails Joe! Is that a trail you ride a lot?

Let’s all get together for an epic opening day 2018 of Ridgeline. Is definitely top 5 trails in Florida
Yasss!
When is the opening day?
I wish i knew. Maybe the SWAMP club facebook page has some info on it? I don't facebook... :(
2 to 3 weeks I just spoke with the man in charge of boyette it all depends on how many people come out and help out
Ridge line is open peoples !! I’m heading there on Wednesday with my brother to ride it. Let’s all shred
Quite a workout!
It's funny because you have to pedal the downs to find the flow on that trail. But for me, it's a lung buster for sure.
Damn that was close..... This place reminds me of carter rd park.... Maybe this place should be the fern factory.... Geez, its nothing but ferns.....
Yeah, ferns for days. And your right, ridgeline is like a bigger more open Carter Rd. :)
I am just waiting for it to get re-open and drive up there.
Be sure to check the SWAMP club facebook page before driving up. Many times, it's closed the day it rains as well as the day after. It's a hard trail to maintain, so when it rains, they close it until dry.
Let me know when you plan to head out, I stay in the area and I need more riding buddies.
Yeah, i'm a good hour drive from Balm. I'm usually at one of the trail systems between 8am and 11am Saturday mornings. Keep an eye out for me. :)
@@MrTonka Hey I'm going to the Ridgeline Workday at Balm tomorrow at 8am. Shoot me a message when you're around.
Alex Martino's MTB Life looks like we’re riding santos or croom tomorrow.

Balm is a little tough. Bring your phone and Trail Forks app along with you and you'll be golden. :D
Solid advice, ha I certainly got lost on my way back out the first time I was there.
I still don't know my way around there very well. haha
