Such a shame we don't hear that much by Anita Meyer anymore. It's ALWAYS the same song on the radio. I used to go her performances with a friend of mine and she knew us and invited us in her dressing room several times. She's very friendly and we really had a great time. Yeah, real shame, such a great voice. I think the fact it hits you because she really is a very friendly sweet woman. She means it.

I think the reason why this program is so great is often people look up to recording artists and they seem to always have a mask on to hide their emotions. Because "it's the song what must have emotion, not the singer" as I heard someone say a while ago. It must be very difficult for you to understand and listen to dutch (not the best language to sing with the hard sounds) at the same time. I don't think, however I have a lot of respect for her, this is the best performance of this song but at the same time she is able to deliver the emotions.

To be fair, the subtitles (while a perfect litteral translation) do not translate perfectly to fit the message the song tries to convey. Hard thing to do. (EG: at 11:20 the subtitles says she sings "I earnestly hope I don't long for you". But it is sang in Dutch with choice of words to give it a more emotional load. I think a better way to translate this is "I fiercly hope that I won't long for you." See the way this sentence sounds and feel totaly different now? It's more emotionally loaded). No offence to the original translator, cause it was a percect litteral translation. But translating songs is from a different level. Not only do the words neet to be correct, it also needs to convey the same message/feeling, no matter what language.

It must be very difficult for you to understand and listen to dutch (not the best language to sing with the hard sounds) at the same time. I don't think, however I have a lot of respect for her, this is the best performance of this song but at the same time she is able to deliver the emotions.

To be fair, the subtitles (while a perfect litteral translation) do not translate perfectly to fit the message the song tries to convey. Hard thing to do.
(EG: at 11:20 the subtitles says she sings "I earnestly hope I don't long for you". But it is sang in Dutch with choice of words to give it a more emotional load.
I think a better way to translate this is "I fiercly hope that I won't long for you." See the way this sentence sounds and feel totaly different now? It's more emotionally loaded).
No offence to the original translator, cause it was a percect litteral translation. But translating songs is from a different level. Not only do the words neet to be correct, it also needs to convey the same message/feeling, no matter what language.
