This is my reaction to Lapinlahden Linnut - Stuck in a Lift
In this video I react to Finnish comedy from classic Finnish comedy television sketch show and comedy music group Lapinlahden Linnut and their funny comedy sketch where they are stuck in a lift.

Lapinlahden Linnut refers to the Hospital of Lapinlahti, it was the first hospital purely for mental patients in Finland, also one of the oldest in Europe.

Lapinlahden Linnut are great group of professional actors and musicians. Unfortunately some members are no longer with us including one of the founding members Timo Eränkö who is the guy in this sketch asking about his height. They did last year their 40 year anniversary tour as band.

They even have an official English name, Rampton Birds, because they made a series to Montreaux with a title "Rampton Birds show: Eight wonders of the World". They made seven sketch series in total and the members have been familiar faces from different context over the years. One member, Markku Toikka, starred in Aki Kaurismäki's first feature film in 1983, the same year as they founded Lapinlahden Linnut: "subsro Crime and Punishment (1983)". Just as Kummeli, they too made a parody sketch of dating game Napakymppi: "Lapinlahden Linnut - Napalanko (English subtitles) [Finnish comedy]". To fully appreciate the sketch, you should watch a clip of the actual Napakymppi, because the imitations on the sketch are uncanny: "Napakymppi 3 (osa 1)". From their songs, this one's (Life Makes You Thirsty) instrumentals you can enjoy without understanding the lyrics: "Lapinlahden Linnut - Elämä janottaa".

I encourage you to watch more Lapinlahden Linnut. It was a very unique comedy group at the time. They had unusually big budget for the TV shows which let them do all sorts of experimental and absurd humour and somehow it all feels very organic.

Oh i forgot to mention earlier, there'a an absolutely hilarious movie called Rumble from 2002 with Vesa-Matti Loiri. It's a short movie about a group of rockabilly dudes on a quest for Dillinger pizza. There are a few clips of it on RUclips but the complete movie has been removed. If you ever get a chance to watch it, i can highly recommend it.

They had great songs like "Vanhojen poikien vitutuslaulu". Someone even remixed it to techno version.

My mother was friends with one of the members mom, so we had their tapes. I listened to them when I was really young and loved the tv-show. It absolutely was not for children my age, but hey, it was the 90's 😂
The first song that comes to mind was the one they just kept saying "perse" (arse) in different tones 😂

This was my favorite show as a child. I also listened to the band's popular songs on the radio with my parents (oh, those were the days). Some of their funny hit songs included "Se ei käy" (It Won't Do) and "Lipputangon nuppi." (The Flagpole Knob). However, my current favorites are "Keski-ikä on syvältä" (Middle Age Sucks) and "Älä viskaa mua pihalle" (Don't Throw Me Out).
By the way, Kummeli has also made music. Some of their hits include "Paras a-ryhmä," (Best A-Team) "Jumankauta juu nääs päivää," (Holy Crap Yeah hello) and my personal favorites: "Rakkauden laivalla" (On the Love Boat) and the Swedish song "Jag tycker om Lennart/han tycker om mig." (I like Lennart/he likes me). Warm childhood/youth memories!!

Hippie-looking guy is collecting names for a worldwide peace petition, using rather harsh methods.

Tähtireki is brilliant. Spaceship crew communicates using only the first letter of each word. Basically with abbreviations, that equals room for mistakes and misunderstanding :D
It's a shame that I did not find Tähtireki with English subtitles

Lapinlahti (posessive Lapinlahden) is west of Helsinki center, where a mental asylum is located. It used to be on the outskirts of the city, bu the city grew and noedyays it's in a tucked away grove between office buildings, a highway and a cemetery.

Propably most famous skit/song from this group is. Siitosen veljekset (semen brothers) They are singing ”Kummuille, laaksoon, mäkeen. Toivoen emme käteen”
    Semen are singing:
*To knoll/hillock, to valley/dale, to hill/slope, hopefully not to hand*
Meaning (to tits, to p🐱sy, to bum, hopefully not to the hand)

Lapinlahden Linnut has a lot of excellent sketches but this wasn't anything special.
