The real theme is different from the storyline you explained here. The storyline or the background of the story is only used to communicate the main theme with the normal audience.
Its a beast vs animal theme. Since we are evolved from an animal we still have the animal thoughts and taste in our inner mind. There is a narrow line that distinguishes man from the beast. But some point in life we break that line and shows the real beast within us.
So after watching the movie we should ask ourselves who is beast and who is animal here?

Small correction brother. They have used very less VFX in the movie. The director wasn't convinced with the VFX so he opted for more practical effects. A model of the bull was made and controlled using animatronics.
Vfx was too costly and they couldn't afford it, but they made it better using other tactics!

Intially i have a good expectations about the film which was named as jallikattu
But,it portraits that word "JALLIKATTU" was refered as kind of bad or mad sport into the world cinema
Thats why i am asking...i am not okay with these title and also it not suits to the script too. WHY they named as JALLIKATTU ( A tamil name ) ??
If any foreigners watch that film and they took misunderstood about the SPORT OF JALLIKATTU traditions which was followed in TAMIL NADU
Thats the only thing, i was to disappoint about that film.

Just thought about title which was not suitable to the film.Then,WHY NAMED as JALLIKATTU
other than MOVIE was good
good, but Jallikkattu is NOT buffalo butchering, it's a sport displaying bulls' power, (like pet shows) part of traditional pongal festival. So such a good movie should be given some realistic and suitable title. this title is wrong for the movie. people who don't know about tamil or what jallikkattu is, will confuse traditional festive sport with butchering of buffaloes

Jallikattu is a sports that invoves a rift between man and bull, the strength of man and bull is brought to test in such a sport..... It's man encountering an animal without any weopean. Its masculine sport.In this film you see such an encouter physically and mentally. In this film its a simple incident at first, butwhen film develops it becomes like a sports because of the rivals. The original intention of catching the bull,because it cause havocs, disappears, now its a sports to show the masculine power and get the trophy(his lover girl) by impressing through masculinity.At the end its totally different
