I LOVE this movie. I had zero expectations and zero idea what it was about and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I wish I could forget what it was about just so I could see it again. I loved the fact that the rules weren't written out, so the kids TOUGHT they knew the rules well enough. Then something would change and it's like, "wait, I thought we knew the rules?!" And then when the girl shows up? It's like, "OH CRAP. That can happen? This changes EVERYTHING."
I'm looking forward to the adaptation of "Rot and Ruin". Yes, it's another post-apocalyptic YA novel, this one with zombies, but it's largely about the relationship between two brothers with very different views on the creatures. Plus, writer Jonathan Maberry had the balls to give us a young protagonist who he unintentionally presents as unlikeable before going through a darn good character arc.
I loved everything you mentioned about Rot And Ruin but one of the female protagonists (the girlfriend) is so useless to both the main character and the plot, plus she's there the entire book so I don't really want to see her fleshed out for the entirety of the movie.
Ugh... I'm so sick of these dark brooding "everything sucks" dystopian films and books. We are pretty much teaching our kids that the future holds nothing for them but pain suffering and oppression. The world sucks. We fucking get it. It's like we are trying to raise a generation of nihilists.
Yeah I sort of commented before watching the video. But regardless, the over saturation of dystopian movies is a big problem. This movie, while somewhat unique, is still part of the problem.
***** Whether they are formulaic or not is irrelevant. Besides, the more of these types of stories we start to see the more they are going to be formulaic. And it's not just young adult novel adaptations, pretty much every sci fi movie that comes out today has the message that scientific progress sucks and will only lead to horrible things. The fact that those notions are becoming part of the everyday ethos is rather frightening. I'm not saying that we should stop making dystopias. dystopian fiction can be a great thing. Hell, my favorite movie of all time is Blade Runner.
I'd love to see Co-Host (feels weird calling him Tony, maybe cause he was never wanted too much of his personal life to get out), but putting him on Double Toasted would mess with the flow it has. He works best when it's just him and Korey I think.
I want to see the whole team back. I miss Cyrus too. They could have them do one off group reviews. Give him a mask or just censor his face or somthing.
Dylan's a great actor, but Teen Wolf went completely to shit from Season 2 onward in terms of writing/making any sense. Oh, well. Here's hoping The Scorch Trials gets greenlit. I want to see the rest of this story.
DonVonBliss : The last season was rushed, as I hear. Not surprised, though. Otherwise, if the story is full of hand-waves and deus ex machinas, which happened from Season 2 onward, then the characters are wasted, however well they're written.
True it was a little rushed . But I would still tell I people to watch it . Just for the acting from so many good actors . O and because johnny cage is a sheriff lol
DonVonBliss : Good old Cage. Still, as a writer, I can't trust that the series has a solid continuity anymore. Each new thing Jeff Davis writes into the story with no set up for it ruins more of my reason to trust the rules of his world. If he'd let Jeff Loeb and his stable of writers work on the series without interruption, then I'd be looking more positively at Teen Wolf.
After reading the book series I am so excited to see this film! I'm glad it's getting good reviews so far. This is going to be intense as hell in the cinema!
I've been watching this for several months, and I've been wondering this for a long time. How many people get angry that these guys give so many spoilers. I know it's a stupid thought, but I know someone's angry about it.
if you listened to their audio review, it's because they realize it's a YA novel movie so it's made for a particular audience. They are reviewing it based on that.

The book was clearly meant for teenage boys. The boys talk about wanting to do stuff with the girl, but the leaders are like "yeah none of that shit!"
This was a pretty good movie until the end. That ending was really dumb.
The commercials made it seem like 'Temple Run' the movie
Also the book doesn't really explain shit. They leave that to later in series.
"Can't nothing please you!" Um.... aren't you the same way?
omg!!!! The spill guys!!! been looking for em for months!!!

I kinda want a Joe Ledger series, but I would like for Rot and Ruin to get adapted!
I was gonna see it until I heard there's no maze rape.
What happened to Martin's hat on the drawing? lol

Yeah man, just that, this movie....... it has nothing of that.

The 70s were the same with the whole dystopia thing....then Star Wars happened!

***** Delicatessen was very good... and French. I would have to watch it again to fully appreciate it's style.

That's true . The dynamics of the show has shifted from what it once was
