My favorite Marshall is my Super Lead from 1975. Just pure Marshall tone. I had it de-modded recently *got rid of a gain mod, improved master volume circuit, service, etc...* It came out sounding, and feeling incredible.
you know about me playing live with my MK-IIB Boogie for aeons.. but I've never played a Marshall live onstage.. so for some reason I always gravitate towards Marshalls in FAS land.. iconic rock tones I suppose is why.. anyhow your YT videos on how to tame these British beasts have helped immensely.. thanks!
thanks so much leon. you are my single most valuable source for guitar sounds, especially fractal land. you’re invaluable for the guitar community. 🔥🔥🔥
The Cult! That riff is a real ear-worm, and you sent me on a musical journey trying to figure out who it was from. Thank you-- I listened to a lot of stuff I hadn't heard in 20+ years. (One of the many benefits of this channel)
Great video and so informative sir.. Man, I swear the AxeFx sounds like an improved "Name your amp here" model everytime I hear it.. You sir are the maestro of playing and gear! Just too cool brother.. That sounds like a perfect Marshall Plexi to me! Very cool.. Be well sir and be safe.. Off to work this AM.. Drinking some nice coffee! Tim
Don't know why, but i like them all. They all Sound a little, more or less, different. So it depends for what kind of sound or music i want to use it. But the thing with the bright switch and capacitance adjustment is a good hint to tweak the sound.
As for my fave Marshall, that I owned, it would have to be the 900SLX. I know some folks aren't fond of them, but I loved mine...really covered a lot of bases for the cover songs the band I was in were playing.
Thanks for all you do Leon - you are an awesome player and a genuine world-class guru with tone toys incl the Fractal stuff. Every one of your Axe FX videos makes me want to go pick up a guitar, and I usually do. Your videos are kind of about tweaking settings, kind of about how much fun guitar tones are, but really about an honest joyful musicianship, and they just make the world better for guitarists.
Nice one LT. I usually dial bright to around 1000, give or take. Favorite Fractal Marshall is JVM OD-1 Green. Sounds like my JCM 800 2204 on Red Bull...
It's very diverse and interesting, the difference between all the Marshall's. It's awesome with the quality digital modellers that we all can mess around with them.
@@LeonTodd just trying to write a run for the discord backing track...🤣 A little challenging as it's not metal. But I'm determined 👍hope your weekend rocks.
@@LeonTodd We live in a lovely modern world where great players and people like you. Pete Thorn, Michael Nielsen and others just up the game and knowledge for all of us...and often! Plus it can't be said enough how much it ads to the weekly inspiration which in return improves my daily work! :D So...thank you!!!
another cheeky mod is t move the master volume from pre-pi to post-pi. you'll need to turn the mv down a bit to hear the difference, but it can sound incredible on some models
While I prefer modern Marshalls for my goto live sounds, practicing on a plexi makes you a better player I say. Our heroes didn’t have a wall of gain to even out their picking and mask small flubs. Plus the raw sound just has balls that nothing newer can ever exceed.
why do you always sound so good ? your connected with USB straight in PC or you use XLR analogue out into esoteric preamp and ADC ? might just be you guitar and playing ?
What's your favorite Marshall model in Fractal land?
1959SLP Normal. Nice with a rat distortion and a tubescreamer when I feel frisky.
I always end up back on the JTM45! Sometimes the Plexi 2204 for a change of pace, or the Satriani JVM for higher gain stuff!
I’ve been in Plexi 50 Jumped for awhile. Always found the 2204 too dark but I hadn’t thought of playing with the bright cap
The Friedman Dirty Shirley

I massively appreciate that mate :)
Agree! 🤘
I’m partial to the JVM orange, Cameron CCV 2A and the plexi 50W.
Neat little trick to mod the bright cap

Have a great Friday brother! Hopefully you can join me in the Fractal verse soon!

Is Marshall. Is good :D
JTM45 for clean tones and Brit 800 Mod for everything else.
As for my fave Marshall, that I owned, it would have to be the 900SLX. I know some folks aren't fond of them, but I loved mine...really covered a lot of bases for the cover songs the band I was in were playing.
Leon's rhythm playing always makes me smile. Hey, LT what's your input gain set to in the Fractal Setup for the DGT?
Thanks mate! That's the foundation after all.
I'm running it around 12% from memory for all my guitars.

Been a long time but I've come around on the JVM's big time. Green and orange modes are great!
My favorite Marshall amp in the Fractal ecosystem is either the 800 or 2204. If I could figure out the Silver Jubilee that might take place.
Euge Valovirta has a real good video dialling in a Jubilee against a real 800, worth a look!
My fav Marshall in Fractal world (and my fav amp in the box, period) is the Plexi 100. It's just perfect.
Delicious!

That would be my crunch channel all day!!! I'd have a Fender clean, this for Crunch, 2C++ rythm and a USA lead.
Solid options! What more do you really need?

Oooh yes! I like that these mods are so easy on the Axe where they'd require some disassembling and expertise on a real amp.
@@LeonTodd yeah, so easy in the axe. it's called the "Lar/Mar master volume mod"
I recently heard The Cult described as "ACDC meets U2" and never has a band been summarized so accurately with so few characters.
hahaha that's actually great. I've always thought AC/DoorsC
🔥
If there was ever any question of what modeler has the best Marshall models. But to answer your question: definitely the JCM 800 models.
My favourite Marshall Model is the Cameron Atomica. I like the Carol Ann Triptik even better, but I don‘t know, of it can be classified as „Marshall“
Oooh yeah the Atomica goes hard!
I like the Marshall 800

Yeah it's the most honest amp out there! Like wrestling whatever large land predator is native to your locale.

No smokemand mirrors here, going straight into my DAW with no post processing
Nice.
Plexi 50W 6CA7 Jumped 🤘
Riff Raff sounded good, but need a little chorus for The Cult no?
The very end with the BOSS flanger model and DM2 delay model is a little closer than the first example
@@LeonToddlol I went off too early. Not an unusual occurrence for me 😳
Rock bottom! Great stuff Leon. Discovering UFO only recently was like a Time Machine present!
@PaulLembo they're amazing hey!
