Damn I love this character. How she introduces some of the darker aspects of the Abyss in the higher levels, sort of sets the tone for the madness of Bondrewd and the lower levels. Giving you an inkling into what to expect but then pushing it further. Also her quirks are just fun to watch. How cruel she is, how unnatural she has become. Or just the back. One minute she’s looming hunchbacked over you the next she’s towering at her full height.

Lyza's white whistle is prob.Her husband .so we can say that Ozen also lost someone precious to her. And from what I can remember she is the oldest white whistle that is still "human" so she prob. Has seen/experience unimaginable horrors through out her dive's. Therefore it's reasonable for her to be distant towards others and somewhat have a screw loose but she still retains her humanity and sympathetic nature albeit a little harsh.
The last short aired to accompany the Dawn of the Deep Soul film where we see how she discovered and rescued Marulk really beautifully demonstrates Ozen's duality as a character. Yes, she's cold and hard and tough as nails, but her first response on seeing a dying child is basically, "Welp, what can I do to help this little goober?" And she keeps them by her side for *years.* And hey, in the second short, when they've hit puberty she covertly sets them up on a date. Which, y'know, slightly questionable but well-intentioned.
