Admittedly, I often struggle with being content in the Lord while single. I go through vicious cycles of looking to the wrong things for satisfaction when it should be obvious that Jesus Christ is enough, and I feel guilty and ashamed as a result. The strong desire for a relationship is there, but I don’t want to dishonor God because of that. And I don’t want to potentially miss out on the blessing that He’s preparing me for. Those feelings are usually not good. Typically linked back to infatuation. Butterflies and sickness usually doesn’t turn out in my favor . When it’s right God will confirm!

I know exactly what you’re saying. God showed me who my future spouse is and after 3 months we were separated. I wasn’t sure why at first but then God began to show me how he had to work through both of us individually. After a year later we are back in communication. All glory to the most high. He will do it for you. Position yourself to pray and cover you and your husband. Even tho physically you’re not married, we are called the helpmate for a reason. If God called you to be a wife he will then prepare us for that position. Stay strong. Pray and fast! God will answer and show you ❤
I hope what I'm about to tell you has the purpose of comforting you... When God sent me the one who was meant for me, our romance was soon challenges by several spiritual issues and battles we came to face. I like the guy that works at my apartments. He’s cute. He works hard. I think I threw trash at him once by accident and I told him I was sorry and he seemed upset but he did say “it’s all good.” I see him when I go on my daily walks and I always have the urge to talk to him. Just to get to know him and ask him questions. The desire to wanna know him grows stronger everyday. I pray to God that if he’s a distraction that these feelings will go away but they haven’t yet. I don’t know why I like him as much as I do and I don’t even know him. I would never go up to him again though because like you said, if he did like me he’d pursue me.

I wondered about this. The man I'm seeing meets them all but pursuing and prioritizing me. He is intentional about our relationship. And I know he listens to God over anything I say. He's let me know he will follow God no matter what.
Pursuit is not a negative thing. It's about stating your intentions clearly and making the effort to show you he is interested. It has nothing to do with putting a person above God. Our pursuit of God is an eternal dance, but when God brings a person into a man's life, and it is his season to marry, he should pursue her with the intention of marriage, not idolatry.

Christian roles of husband and wife are very clear to me and I understand the complementarity that is a natural social consequence to their biological role. The wife bears and births and feeds the children and the husband stands guard to all their needs. That’s what “weaker vessel” means, she’s the delicate, precious vessel of life and must be protected. Which is not happening remotely in our Western society!! That’s the family I wanted, but it’s not the family I got. So looking at the perspective of initiating marriage past childbearing age (hypothetically), I do struggle a bit to see how to best apply those biblical values to a relationship that cannot produce children. Any advice?🙏

It's foolish & unwise to base any life changing decision on feelings alone. God may or may not give you special feelings when you meet someone that would make a great life partner. Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane prayed & resisted the strong feelings & emotions that he experienced just before his betrayal, arrest, and crucifixion. "Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to the point of death. Stay here, and keep watch with me.” He went a little farther, fell on his face, and prayed. He said, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:38-39 EHV This is but one example that shows us that we should never base our faith & decisions on feelings or emotions alone, but on God's revealed will in the word & in prayer.
That is not what is discussed here. No woman wants to base her life on feelings alone. But feelings help a woman to discern her World around. That is how WE were created as females. Go tell GOD HE WAS wrong for making it so! The advice here IS not on how we must feel but on how those feelings matter to reveal WE are in a good track. Mark is very gifted to decipher male and female minds. Maybe you are in the process of getting it too. Plus I have to remember you that Jesus was a man himself so of course he had to manage his feelings even to the point of discarding them. His Logic and sense of duty had already guided Him. He was now doing the first assignment of a husband : sacrifice.

If so maybe you're not talking about emotions but the "inward witness" of the Holy Spirit which some call intuition. I know women are very intuitive but this is not emotions at all, but the Holy Spirit using your (spirit), inner woman to reveal truth to you about relationships. I know God created women unique and beautiful and are wired differently than men, and I have no problem with this at all. But many Christians both men & women use their raw emotions to find the will of God, this is 100% wrong & will lead to all kinds of errors and bad decisions. This is what I was referring to not "true discernment" that may or may not be accompanied by feelings or emotions. Words and their correct definition matter because words are the foundation for verbal & written communication. The FBI says that 80% of all communication is non-verbal, such as body language the voice tones...etc. If this is true & I believe it is, then women are picking up on non-verbal communication way more than men. I posted what I did to protect those who have very little discernment, & to encourage men & women to use the Bible as their guide & to learn to walk in the Spirit & not depend on feelings or emotions to make decisions, but to pray & fast like Jesus did and say, "not my will but your will be done Father." We're both Christian. He's Baptist and my family is pentecostal/charismatic. He told me he had bought a ring but around the time he bought the ring he felt that the issue of us having different theologies started weighing on him. He asked advice from his church and family and in the end it resulted in the break up. He even spoke to my parents to try and get clarity. Other than that I feel like the relationship was loving and over time our communication got mich better. And other than the theological issue we agreed on how future children should be raised. And since we're fairly young (24/25) so for us future careers really aren't an issue. During our whole relationship I've been in school and he broke the news to me a couple days before my very last college final. So I was hoping that after so long of being in school I would have more time to focus on areas of my life I felt like I needed to pay more attention to. I think the mistake our culture tells women is that they should experience all these explosive feelings immediately on the first date.
That’s exactly it. Too much emphasis on the feelings and desire rather than the character.
Those feelings are usually not good. Typically linked back to infatuation. Butterflies and sickness usually doesn’t turn out in my favor . When it’s right God will confirm!

I know exactly what you’re saying. God showed me who my future spouse is and after 3 months we were separated. I wasn’t sure why at first but then God began to show me how he had to work through both of us individually. After a year later we are back in communication. All glory to the most high. He will do it for you. Position yourself to pray and cover you and your husband. Even tho physically you’re not married, we are called the helpmate for a reason. If God called you to be a wife he will then prepare us for that position. Stay strong. Pray and fast! God will answer and show you ❤

I like the guy that works at my apartments. He’s cute. He works hard. I think I threw trash at him once by accident and I told him I was sorry and he seemed upset but he did say “it’s all good.” I see him when I go on my daily walks and I always have the urge to talk to him. Just to get to know him and ask him questions. The desire to wanna know him grows stronger everyday. I pray to God that if he’s a distraction that these feelings will go away but they haven’t yet. I don’t know why I like him as much as I do and I don’t even know him. I would never go up to him again though because like you said, if he did like me he’d pursue me.

I wondered about this. The man I'm seeing meets them all but pursuing and prioritizing me. He is intentional about our relationship. And I know he listens to God over anything I say. He's let me know he will follow God no matter what.
Pursuit is not a negative thing. It's about stating your intentions clearly and making the effort to show you he is interested. It has nothing to do with putting a person above God.
Our pursuit of God is an eternal dance, but when God brings a person into a man's life, and it is his season to marry, he should pursue her with the intention of marriage, not idolatry.

Christian roles of husband and wife are very clear to me and I understand the complementarity that is a natural social consequence to their biological role. The wife bears and births and feeds the children and the husband stands guard to all their needs. That’s what “weaker vessel” means, she’s the delicate, precious vessel of life and must be protected. Which is not happening remotely in our Western society!!
That’s the family I wanted, but it’s not the family I got. So looking at the perspective of initiating marriage past childbearing age (hypothetically), I do struggle a bit to see how to best apply those biblical values to a relationship that cannot produce children. Any advice?🙏

It's foolish & unwise to base any life changing decision on feelings alone. God may or may not give you special feelings when you meet someone that would make a great life partner. Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane prayed & resisted the strong feelings & emotions that he experienced just before his betrayal, arrest, and crucifixion. "Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to the point of death. Stay here, and keep watch with me.” He went a little farther, fell on his face, and prayed. He said, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:38-39 EHV This is but one example that shows us that we should never base our faith & decisions on feelings or emotions alone, but on God's revealed will in the word & in prayer.
That is not what is discussed here. No woman wants to base her life on feelings alone. But feelings help a woman to discern her World around. That is how WE were created as females. Go tell GOD HE WAS wrong for making it so!
The advice here IS not on how we must feel but on how those feelings matter to reveal WE are in a good track.

Plus I have to remember you that Jesus was a man himself so of course he had to manage his feelings even to the point of discarding them. His Logic and sense of duty had already guided Him.

If so maybe you're not talking about emotions but the "inward witness" of the Holy Spirit which some call intuition. I know women are very intuitive but this is not emotions at all, but the Holy Spirit using your (spirit), inner woman to reveal truth to you about relationships. I know God created women unique and beautiful and are wired differently than men, and I have no problem with this at all. But many Christians both men & women use their raw emotions to find the will of God, this is 100% wrong & will lead to all kinds of errors and bad decisions. This is what I was referring to not "true discernment" that may or may not be accompanied by feelings or emotions. Words and their correct definition matter because words are the foundation for verbal & written communication. The FBI says that 80% of all communication is non-verbal, such as body language the voice tones...etc. If this is true & I believe it is, then women are picking up on non-verbal communication way more than men. I posted what I did to protect those who have very little discernment, & to encourage men & women to use the Bible as their guide & to learn to walk in the Spirit & not depend on feelings or emotions to make decisions, but to pray & fast like Jesus did and say, "not my will but your will be done Father." PS I'm not saying feelings are wrong or evil, but just not to depend on them like many do & suffer greatly in so doing! God's peace be yours in abundance!

The 3 year relationship ended in June but he brought up the topic of possibly breaking up on his birthday in May. For him is was because of some theological reasons. We're both Christian. He's Baptist and my family is pentecostal/charismatic. He told me he had bought a ring but around the time he bought the ring he felt that the issue of us having different theologies started weighing on him. He asked advice from his church and family and in the end it resulted in the break up. He even spoke to my parents to try and get clarity. Other than that I feel like the relationship was loving and over time our communication got mich better. And other than the theological issue we agreed on how future children should be raised. And since we're fairly young (24/25) so for us future careers really aren't an issue.
During our whole relationship I've been in school and he broke the news to me a couple days before my very last college final. So I was hoping that after so long of being in school I would have more time to focus on areas of my life I felt like I needed to pay more attention to.

My husband and I met under highly unusual circumstances, so not everything you said was true for us, but for the most part, very accurate. Also, I knew he was the one through a prophetic symbol God gave me in the first week or 2 of knowing him.
It's interesting it's not just a revelation from God that the man is the right man. The man has to do the work to get the woman. I thought it would be a feeling the man was right or a combination of God and the man.

Pray and seek God with all your heart. Pray without ceasing. The closer you are to the Lord and read his word, the harder it is for a counter fit to trick you. Just take your time and allow God to order your steps, he will never fail you. Tell the Lord that you desire what he wants for you. The Lord will show you if you can proceed or run as fast as you can❤️
