I'm using scrite more than 5 months now instead of FD. I just love it. I believe it is the best screenwriting software for Indian writers. The september updates are awesome. Now I am expecting a feature that will help me to follow through the character arc. If possible I wish to have a character arc tab with relationship tab.

Been using this for a month now and it's just fantastic. I have started to appreciate the scene driven approach over traditional page driven method. I used Color coding in a different way here (specifically for this one courtroom drama I had to work on) which was to color code it by location, this helped me identify quickly if a certain pattern (for e.g. court, police station, accused's home) was being repeated elsewhere for dramatic purposes or if I had included the police station (for e.g.) a certain number of times to show a repetition leading the central character to get frustrated. Seeing it visually saved me a ton of time. Additionally the location wise report helped me quickly prepare the required report for pre-production. Thanks once again Prashanth for building an app I can use for all my screenwriting needs.
@@PrashanthUdupa Thanks for the reply, I am a software engineer turned storyteller and hence am always on the lookout for tools to make my life simple (Storyboarder and Shot Designer are my other favs), coz just like what a good programming utility provides, we should be focusing on writing the business logic (script content) rather than fussing around with the syntax (figuring out the tool), and Scrite works perfectly in that aspect for me. I look forward to more features and yes if you do go from free to pro, would be interested to join in on the same. And I hope to add more comments on any specific way I use Scrite that helps me out, and hopefully it will help others too :)

I was looking for a writing aid software able to support the .fountain format and to have the flexibility of a Joplin. But I was missing the possibility to preview the structure and its layout. What a surprise! Mr. Prashanth Udupa put it all together, including timeline management, as well as formatted and ready to use output for the actors. This is an impressive work, congratulations for the quality of your work Mr Prashanth Udupa! I am preparing to write a script for a comic book or manga series, I think there is nothing missing, except the possibility to add a storyboard (it is also used in publishing). I regret however that the software is not available for Android, because I work a lot on my tablet and I need synchronization between my tablet and my PCs. But what a job! It's great, really. I pray that this great software doesn't become as stupidly expensive and in a completely idiotic subscription business model as those competitors FinalDraft or CeltX, but that it remains affordable for everyone in one purchase. Otherwise, I'd do without these programs and go back to the basic .fountain format, paper and pencil. 🙏
Regarding storyboarding, we don't have a formal feature for this yet. Also, we are going to launch subscription plans for the product soon. We will post information about it once its all ready. Until then all product features are free to use.
AMAZING well thought out tool-- Just a HUGE learning curve to it. I would just keep trying to simplify as best you can and maybe drop some of the options that aren't "mission critical". But wow, I can def see FD "adopting" a lot of what. you guys have created. Insane tool! Will try to use it as much as I can and see if it's a benefit or a hindrance on creativity. Just want to say that I loved using Scrite! I not only loved writing scripts on it, but I the Structuring Tool made it so much easier to figure out the scenes of stories I want to create. I can drag cards and figure out which scenes I want and I can change the order of them! I do have a question, though. I saw on your "Sign Up/Login" article that some features may be locked under a paywall when the program comes out of beta. Is it really true that the Structuring Tool will also be one of the tools locked in this paywall? It's a very handy tool and I hate to see it being locked under a paywall. Is there a way-- or might there be, in the future, to display multiple layered timelines based on characters or locations or "story time"... ? The ability to visualize the full continuity of different characters or situations layered atop each other combined with the ability to edit all the timelines displayed would be quite amazing!

We also have plans to integrate a story-maps panel, in addition to being able to view beat-tracks on the timeline (which is already possible). Displaying multiple layered timelines based on characters, location and story time would be an interesting possibility. Good suggestion.
I LOVE this! Thank you! I've been looking for the ability to edit/organise the structure of my scripts using index cards on my computer exactly like this... Is it possible to create just the structure using Scrite and the Save the Cat templates and to then export the index cards into Final Draft?
I´m loving the software. I think has just the right and the best features one can need. Still getting use to the structure tab, but It´s great. One thing though. I can´t select the notebook to be integrated into the structure, it´s grayed out. Might come in future upgrade?

I found some issue i use Mac. when i try to use my trackpad while selecting Dailogue names...my curser get dactivated. thats only bug i found...my curser works every where except the selection of charecter name from drop down list. but it is amazing
That's good for writing but when AD works on pre work they needs to take props break down scenes and location wise. Also characters costume breakdown and continuity. Scene wise. Is there any upgrading progress in this for making pre production and also adding story boarding for shots breakdown. Thank you

Just started using Scrite. It is excellent and fits in to my style of work. There is SHOT button just before transition button. I tried using it to divide shots. Could not got what I wanted. Can you help me by replying to this query. Thanks
@Ramesh Chand: Happy to know that Scrite's approach to screenwriting works for you. :-) The shot button is meant to format the paragraph as a SHOT. It is not meant for performing shot division. We will be adding screenplay breakdown and shot-division features in a future update.
I have recently started using Script and found it very interesting and your scene based approach is awesome. Great job.! I have a doubt in the Save The Cat template found in Scrite. After "Break Into Two (25): 1 Scene" it goes straight into "B Story (30): 1 Scene". What happens in between from Scene 26 to 29?. Can you please clarify.
The Save The Cat template does not mention scene numbers in brackets, rather it mentions suggested page numbers. This means, Break Into Two should ideally start on the 25th page. Thanks Prashanth for this wonderful app. I am new to it, but have used Celtx, Drama Queen and even Yamdu (for my production planning) extensively, but having a planning and structuring feature which also adds on to the screenplay getting designed is just fantastic. I only have one issue with the app, and that is I am on win 10, working on a 4k TV display (from a distance) with my text zoomed in to 300% for my general use and the app font is very small. I am using the magnifier to type in anything. Is there any fix for this?

One question though, if i'm going to type the whole script in Manglish ( malayalam in english letters) can i just translate the full script to malayalam transcript by clicking by the end, i cannot keep correcting while i'm writing... any inputs would be highly appreciated. Scrite offers as-you-type-transliteration and not translation, therefore the app doesn't support one click transliteration, because it will be difficult to guess which text-fragments are in Malayalam and which ones are in English. You can simply use the key-combination Alt+M to switch to Malayalam whenever you want to transliterate to Malayalam. And then use the key-combination Alt+E to switch back to English.
Hi, I am facing issues in telugu translation in Mac. Even though I have added the language in system preferences, still I am unable to get the right thing as u have shown in this video for Hindi language. Please suggest me what to do.

Jab bhi scrite open kar raha hu tab tab file is locked by another scrite instance on this computer or elsewhere. Please close other scrite instances using this file , or manually delete the lock file. Face karna pad raha hai please give me this problem of solution.

Sorry to hear that you lost your original file. Scrite does not support importing from PDF. You will need to figure out a way to convert that PDF to a text, or FDX format. After that you can import to Scrite.

In a future update, we hope to have this showing up on a live panel dockable to one of the edges in the Scrite window. We also have plans to integrate a story-maps panel, in addition to being able to view beat-tracks on the timeline (which is already possible).
Displaying multiple layered timelines based on characters, location and story time would be an interesting possibility. Good suggestion.

Script breakdown (which includes shot division) module is a planned feature and shall be introduced in a future update.

I LOVE this! Thank you! I've been looking for the ability to edit/organise the structure of my scripts using index cards on my computer exactly like this... Is it possible to create just the structure using Scrite and the Save the Cat templates and to then export the index cards into Final Draft?
While you can export the screenplay content to Final Draft, its currently not possible to export the beat-board for use within Final Draft.

I´m loving the software. I think has just the right and the best features one can need. Still getting use to the structure tab, but It´s great. One thing though. I can´t select the notebook to be integrated into the structure, it´s grayed out. Might come in future upgrade?

I found some issue i use Mac. when i try to use my trackpad while selecting Dailogue names...my curser get dactivated. thats only bug i found...my curser works every where except the selection of charecter name from drop down list. but it is amazing
That's good for writing but when AD works on pre work they needs to take props break down scenes and location wise. Also characters costume breakdown and continuity. Scene wise. Is there any upgrading progress in this for making pre production and also adding story boarding for shots breakdown.

Just started using Scrite. It is excellent and fits in to my style of work. There is SHOT button just before transition button. I tried using it to divide shots. Could not got what I wanted. Can you help me by replying to this query. Thanks

The shot button is meant to format the paragraph as a SHOT. It is not meant for performing shot division. We will be adding screenplay breakdown and shot-division features in a future update.

I have a doubt in the Save The Cat template found in Scrite. After "Break Into Two (25): 1 Scene" it goes straight into "B Story (30): 1 Scene". What happens in between from Scene 26 to 29?. Can you please clarify.
The Save The Cat template does not mention scene numbers in brackets, rather it mentions suggested page numbers. This means, Break Into Two should ideally start on the 25th page. Further, it is suggested that the B-Story start on the 30th page, in a 110 page screenplay.

Thanks Prashanth for this wonderful app. I am new to it, but have used Celtx, Drama Queen and even Yamdu (for my production planning) extensively, but having a planning and structuring feature which also adds on to the screenplay getting designed is just fantastic.
I only have one issue with the app, and that is I am on win 10, working on a 4k TV display (from a distance) with my text zoomed in to 300% for my general use and the app font is very small. I am using the magnifier to type in anything. Is there any fix for this?

Hi, I'm loving scrite, just grateful to your tutorials. One question though, if i'm going to type the whole script in Manglish ( malayalam in english letters) can i just translate the full script to malayalam transcript by clicking by the end, i cannot keep correcting while i'm writing... any inputs would be highly appreciated. Scrite offers as-you-type-transliteration and not translation, therefore the app doesn't support one click transliteration, because it will be difficult to guess which text-fragments are in Malayalam and which ones are in English. You can simply use the key-combination Alt+M to switch to Malayalam whenever you want to transliterate to Malayalam. And then use the key-combination Alt+E to switch back to English.

How to add nudi (Kannada) in scrite.
As of now we don't have built-in integration with Nudi. But you can use Nudi's IME with Scrite, like you can use it with any other app on Windows.

Sorry to hear that you lost your original file. Scrite does not support importing from PDF. You will need to figure out a way to convert that PDF to a text, or FDX format. After that you can import to Scrite.
