A master class in Pan Eagle flying. I am guessing this form of kiting is still rarely seen in the USA. Pleased you received some appreciation. I hope not too many local birds were startled in the making of this video.
@@kiteflyingdownunder....car6272 Hi Carl, it is very, very rare indeed. Frequently, those who see it do not know what they are seeing, until they see the white back side of tje the wings. It was nice to have such a generous beach and time to fly. I was putting in half hour continuous flights, a rarity. What worked for me is a vexation for other kiters. You will note there is a lot of kite pumping in some of the convention video shots. So, the dynamic is that when I am up, they are down and vice versa. Too, I can fly to my heart's content while many are just rolling out of bed. Keep in touch, Carl.
Very impressive Glenn. I have been following you with this for a while now. I watched you when you were just starting to learn to fly this style. Your skills have most massively improved! It looks absolutely fantastic in the air! Wonderful display here Glenn.
@@PanyingPilot it’s a lot like me playing my guitars here. It’s a labor of love. I do it because I enjoy it. Likewise, a lot of the practicing is done by myself. Not unlike yourself, the payoff is when I get to go out and play with my band.
@@CirrusRC A fair question David. I have not been able to achieve the type of thermal rise you ask about. When conditions are right. I can achieve an overhead hover. If conditions are not so right, it will hover, then rise. That becomes a worry because I do not want a runaway altitude gain. In those conditions, unless I can lower the eagle vertically, the bird will start to power glide, exerting maximum tension of the flight line. If I add brakes, it will power dive to ground. I have to feather it in with fingers crossed.
@@MarkAGrohHello Mark, 9 miles an hour is too much. Eagles like 1 to 4 mph. Basically, when others can not fly the eagle can fly. Contact Monica at Kaixuan kite factory in China on aliexpress. Tell her Glenn Mitchell sent you for an eagle kite. If we need to converse after you contact her, I will be glad to correspond email

@@mrlionel1965 I appreciate that comment Kenny, It is a labor of love and mostly done in isolation. The rewards are worth the effort.

Very impressive Glenn. Can you thermal one?

What fun, great mystery...what winds are you flying in? Show a close-up of this bird sometime. Are they available?
