The life itself, the people, the nature, the culture - it's amazing. I left Ukraine when i was 12, now i'm 20. And i really want to call Finland my home. And i will. I am, in fact. I'm proud to live here, among these good people, in this country. :)
I am from Finland, and I actually live up north. It might be a little cold during winter time (Usually -25* to -40* celcius), but the summer is just awesome here! Warm weather, lakes, midnight sun and fishing, and the most important thing, Summer Holiday, so no school to be in! :D But, so far so good, I am very proud of my country.

I'm egg donated from there and my dad (the only actually blood relative I know) is a bit Finish as well! So I'm about 78% Finish. Really wished I could live there.
Brutal and Inexcusable We got free healthcare, free education, free school meals, unlimited dataplans for +15euros a month and a buttload of other free services, but boy oh boy...imagine the taxes, finlands taxes belong to the top 15 highest in the world because of it i believe.
nope Yes. Funny. And for the school food - it's not always as good as people think as it's only under 1€ per student which means the quality might just not be at its best. It's free at least I guess..
Been to Finland 5 times. I love it there! ♡ The coffee is great, the coffeerolls (pulla) are delicious, Helsinki is awesome, their nature is beautiful ... etc. etc.
I feel like the only american living in Finland sometimes. And I've lived there for over a year.. One thing I noticed about this country though, it gets victimized by misconception by people who do not live in Finland.. a lot. Speaking on things they clearly did no research on, notably when talking about the Winter War, the drinking "problem" and especially politics. Also lots and lots of misconceptions about Finns in general. Finns are worried about losing their social identity, and the Finnish Language is obviously what is keeping it intact. Multiculturalism can nearly replace a dominant language with another, and this is generally why they push the finnish language on immigrants and I can tell you, a lot of immigrants come to Finland with no intention of learning Finnish, or when they do, they learn only enough and then stop and expect Finns to understand their sentences containing only 1rst infinitive verbs that aren't conjugated properly or at all, and adjectives/nouns that are not inflected. As far was the working sector - yes that is a major problem with foreigners, but I see this having more to do with unwillingness to learn the language. Foreigner unemployment rates are higher than native unemployment rates. About the Finns: There's hidden racism in every culture, so that's nothing new or unique with Finns. Every society has their bad apples. I can tell you that my wife thinks americans are nice, because we are very social and polite with greetings and stuff. However, there are a ton of american assholes too, I can assure you of that. Finns are not ALWAYS "quiet and brief" - this is a misconception. Trams, Buses, Trains, gatherings, ain't quiet - for example. I'm sorry to burst people's bubbles, but I've seen Finns striking up conversations with random people, I've seen it happen to my wife, who is a Finn. It is also not always brief. On the other hand there are Finns that truly are one with silence, or are so brief, they walk off while you are in mid-sentence - this has happened to me, and my wife. Some take that to the extreme, and ARE intending to be rude with it. The Winter War: Not going to get into this, but the events of this battle in my view, demands a lot of respect for the country. The Finnish Language: A very beautiful yet mysterious language with word origins that not even top finnsh linguists know - this language fascinates me for that very reason: There is always a "how" and "why" and "where it came from" to a word or verb. It has many dialects and the spoken form differs greatly from formal
... for example. I'm sorry to burst people's bubbles...that's important...that some people agree or try to...tell the truth and...facts...included...I do same aswell
I went to a classical music concert there and I can confirm the Finns aren't as quiet and shy as I was led to believe. They chat during pauses and voice their excitement when moved by a piece, always polite, they all knew how to behave appropriately so there wasn't the typical shushing one almost expects everywere (with the exception of Japan, another country of very polite people) else in the world.
@@Ometecuhtli Well observed! I'll have to add to this, that the people who go to classical concerts tend to fall into a very specific category of people in Finland. And yes, of course there are exceptions, but generally speaking the people going to classical concerts tend to be a bit wealthier and higher with their social status and very specific about their behavior, being very polite and culturally aware and therefore chatty giving an image of being on the top of the subject. I'm not saying the people aren't genuine or they're the only Finns behaving this way, but it's my observations of the situation as a Finn.
Personally, I really dislike this a 'unique language that no one else is able to understand' narrative that Finns are all too often propagating. Sorry, Finnish is neither unique nor incomprehensible to all other nations.
yeah. nothing beats the fun of digging your shitty car under the snow every moring in darkness in daily baisis and there is 3 hours of sunlight at winter that lasts like 8 months.
We have the most advanced radar systems in the world and we let you know models of our tanks, so were not autistic communists like N.Koreans or Russiassholes
True, Estonian people are brothers to Finns, but Sweden is our old mother country.. Finland's area was almost 700 years an integral part of Sweden to the year 1809.

Best thing about finland is the sauna. What could beat a nice trip to a sauna after lots of work, just sitting there, throwing TONS of löyly, eating watermelon and getting relaxed and when you feel like it, go outside to the -30°C temperature air and dive into the snow and then go back to the +100°C sauna... Yeah if you're not finnish don't be shocked :D
Mm meillä määrätään masennuslääkkeitä turhan usein. Samat masennuslääkkeet on johtanu Suomen ainoisiin koulu ampumisiin, "lievien" agressiohäiriöiden ansiosta. Nykyään lääkärit mielellään jo antavatkin niiden hieman tujumpien masennus lääkkeiden olla.
I'm 50% Finnish. My dad's parents moved to Maine in the US, in the 1920's. We had a sauna too. I can speak a little Finnish. I'm proud of my Finnish heritage, and would love to visit there someday.
Finland is a lady, so Finland is the sister of Sweden We call Finland "Suomi-neito", or "Finland maiden" and if you look at the country itself it kinda looks like a woman, Lapland being the head/arm and the rest of Finland being the rest of the body
What about Linux (which runs on top of your Android phone while you play CoC)... Also IRC and SSH (a cryptographic network protocol for operating network services securely over an unsecured network) are from Finland :-) -By the way: try this great tasting and refreshing alcoholic beverage called Lonkero (invented during 1952 Helsinki Olympics).
I’m also from Finland, and pretty much all I want to say is that we really love our country! Finns are really proud of our independency and our good ranking results
Hi friend, im very interested in Finland and i heard the people there is very nice. im a chinese staying in Malaysia. can i ask u a question,do you guys welcome immigrant? Thanks
I’m an American FIN. My grandmother is 1st gen. Whenever I talk about Russia she spits… and then puts a cube of sugar in her coffee. Apparently I have family that died in the winter war. I love my gram.. but Russia is a topic we can’t talk about.
@@danielliew8819 Immigrants are welcomed! JUST.. Please respect our culture, ways and language meaning: Try to learn Finnish to the best of your abilities, don't disrespect our culture/country because we are proud of it... And DO NOT compare us to Sweden..
Really amazing to hear such nice things about Finland from a non finnish person. I love many things about Finland. Clear lakes, forests, summers (cause it's never dark), culture, sauna, health care, language, music, food, education system, summer cottages, beautiful nature and landscapes, our president, our president's dog, salmiakki, reindeers, traditions, youtubers, Helsinki, Finland's history etc. Yeah it's cold and dark most of the time but i feel blessed that i was born here❤
Finland is culturally Scandinavian as it was a part of Sweden for as long as we know 6-700 years. In 1808-09 Russia attacked Sweden and snatched the part of Sweden that is Finland. It was the end of Sweden as a power in Europe and many Swedes don't even know that as it's more or less omitted in Swedish history, Finland became a true autonomous grand duchy within the autocratic Russian Empire, but with the old Swedish law and freedoms. Finland become Finland then and some of the best art and music is from that period between 1809 to 1918. The Russian revolution gave the Finns the opportunity to break out and declare themselves independent. Scandinavia is really the name of the mountain range between Sweden and Norway but as some Swedes are a bit pickish with that word it's better to speak about the Nordics and the Nordic countries of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. There is a certain similarity between people and countries in the north, ranging from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, northern Germany, Holland, Scotland perhaps Ireland to Canada. All likeable decent democratic countries.
yes and no, Finland is not part of scandiavia , the Scandinavian peninsula is sweden and norway, and for some odd reason denmark is there also, Finland is not, well exept one tiny part in Lapland is.
Sweden as a power in Europe ended 100 years before we lost Finland. Swedes are not pickish, Finnish are. Every time I say that we (Sweden - Finland) are like brothers there is always a Finn who say "We are not Scandinavians"
I would actually say that Finland is the little SISTER rather than brother since our country is ”shaped” like a maiden. ”Suomi neito” in Finnish. We lost the other arm in war but the resemblance is still there and “Finland maiden” is a common nickname for our beautiful country.
I'm Canadian, but loved living in Turku. The food is amazing, lots of coffee and pastries when you visit someone's home. I gained a few pounds. Great country and great people
My maternal grandparents all came from Finland. They settled in The New Finland Colony in Saskatchewan Canada. So proud of my heritage, thank you for the info 😁
I live in Finland, and believe it or not I saw the girl from the thumbnail (Laura Birn) in a bookstore today :D These are the kinds of coincidences that happen to me. I wish I could win the lottery or something instead.
They always say Winter War, but the Continuation War was much longer and much harder and it's always forgotten. Silent culture (where silence is not awkward), salmiakki & tervaleijona, sauna, Linux, joulupukki, genetically distant from all the other nations (a genetical island), most people north of the 60th lattitude, most summer games olympic medals and gold medals per population, more heavy music bands per population than anywhere else, top mobile phone game developpers. And more weird games than wife carrying, swamp soccer, swamp skiing, boot throwing, mobile phone throwing, air guitar championships.
You left out many small things im sure people would find interesting. The sauna salmiakki the winter war statistics and simo häyhä the language sports related achievements the music science
In 5:53 you can see Independence torch procession in Helsinki 6.12. when we go celebrate our war veterans. This particular torch procession is now being called "racist" and "nazi". Sad, isn't it.
Time you stood up to those left liberals. Time you told them who is boss and where they can take their bullshit. That is happening in Canada. Don't think Justin Trudeau is that popular, he isn't, especially outside of Toronto and Vancouver, and some of the Atlantic Coast.
I'm finnish, and one awesome fact you should know about Finland is that we are known for tenacity, saying only stuff that needs to be said, humility, honesty and overall being the good guys of the world.
thanks for sharing! my character is so fins lol i love ur country so much! im a chinese staying in Malaysia. can i ask u a question,do you guys welcome immigrant? Thanks
I'm Finnish, we have a sauna in our basement, just like every other Finnish family, and I'm drinking coffee right now while making this comment :D And Fun Fact: So when Finland was a part of Sweden in the early 1800's, Napoleon Bonaparte himself wanted to make a continental barrier to Great Britain, because they were enemies with France, so Napoleon needed other countries to help him. Many countries were asked to help them, and many countries agreed to join the thing, but the king of Sweden, Kustaa IV Adolf didn't when he was asked to help Napoleon, because he thought that Napoleon was the satan himself. He was not right in the head. He also didn't want to join because many of the supplies Sweden needed came from Great Britain and joining the thing would mean they couldn't get them anymore. So Napoleon was pissed and made a deal with the Russian czar (or whatever) and then Russia tried to make Sweden join the thing by attacking Finland (because it was a part of Sweden). So there were about 13 000 not-well-trained soldiers defending Finland, and Swedish soldiers didn't even come to help them ;-;, and there were way more well trained soldiers in Russia (I don't remember how many). So Russia invaded Finland and for the first time Finland became a part of Russia. The Russian czar was nice to Finnish people so the wouldn't start a rebellion and Russia didn't want that because Finland was too close to the capital of Russia. So for example, Finland got to keep their Lutheran religion and their class society that they had when they were a part of Sweden. I'm sorry for the bad English, (I had to google translate some of the words 'xD) And that's all I remember from that history lesson, but I thought I should tell a little bit about it since it wasn't in the video, but if you know about this more than I do, then please comment something about this topic so I can at least learn more about it (and you of course). :D Thanks for reading my awfully long and really bad fact thingy!
A few more facts about Finland: Worlds best country to be a mother in. Best education system in the world or atleast Top 10 every year. Top 10 happiest and safest country. Very happy and honoured to be a Finn, dont mean to arrogant, just proud.
When you want to be totally free, wander in autumn into wilderness arias of the Lapland, fish and collect some mushrooms, make a fire and just be. Thats life!
Finland is the best place in the world. We have free schools with good meals every day. In Finland it's illegal to beat or hurt your children even as a punishment. Our colleges and universities are also free, and so is our health care. Even when it's cold I wouldn't trade my country. And by the way it is hardly ever too hot in Finland; it's easier to protect yourself from the cold than from heat.
Finland belongs to Fennoscandia. But I am ok with Scandinavia, too. 700 years belonging to Sweden means that we have a good part of things in our culture from Sweden, even things we do not anymore recognize. And Sweden has vice versa.
@@703Bella bullshit, what culture does Sweden have that we got from Finland? It was not a union on equal terms but a complete swedish domination in which Finland didnt exist, only as östlandet.. a province.
It is official. Finland was ranked the best country 2019 by World economic Forum conference in Switzerland Davos. Also World happines index report and UN ranked Finland the happiest country 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Why? You can google it. The list is long. The reasons are the same in the both cases.
As a Finn I'm tired of hearing about the "wife carrying competition". It's really not that significant. No one ever talks about it nor is it even ever mentioned in the news...
It's just native to us. No other country does that anywhere else. Not to mention how in US they held competition like this (some enthustiast who had visited Finland held it) and a Finnish couple went there to win it! EDIT: But you're right, they should mention some real sports we ACTUALLY do.
I'm from Germany and I've been to Finland for six months. One of the most interesting and friendly countries I've ever been to. I recommend everybody to visit this country. The nature is just marvellous, the Saunas are always hot and the people are so open to everybody, in case you are the one starting the conversation ;-) I'm looking forward to my next trip to Finland.
I'm proud to be a finn. What I'm not so proud of is the current state of things, Finland just... isn't so peaceful and safe anymore. But hey, at least we got 100 years of independence :) Suomi100 :D
Saitama yes I did but since Finland is a relatively new country that has been under the control of Sweden through out most of its history so it feels more like Finland is the annoying younger brother that has lived in the shadow of his older brother for years and only recently came out of their shell and became their own person and became an equal with his brother
I respect the educational system, technology, Finnish politics, approach to the environment, the fact that most Finns seem to speak several languages fluently. What is there not to love about this beautiful country and people? An opinion from the US.
Adas Kozojebowski you don't have to carry your own wife in the race. There are actually single ladies at the event who are willing to be carried if there is someone who wants to participate but doesn't have a "wife" to carry. There is a lowest weight that the "wife" is supposed to weigh and if she's under the limit, they'll add weights, I believe the lowest weight is around 50kg. Yes, I've lived in the town that has this race and I've been there a couple of times. :D
Adas Kozojebowski Well I'm around 10kg above the lowest weight so I think you might succeed better with a lighter "wife" but otherwise sure I would be your race wife! :D
Also, I heard the heavier the weight of the "wife" or woman, the more beer you get as a reward. This is the reason sometimes the guy decides to carry a heavier one
I'm from Finland and I love my country. Best things in Finland are snow, nature and aurora borealis. Fact: (I dont know if this is really true)They say that finnish is the most difficult language in the world to learn.

I live in Finland and if u wanna give a gift to a finn, coffee is one gift idea what usually is very liked. Or salmiac, it depends who are u giving it ( me personally I LOVE salmiac aka salmiakki, but ik that some ppl don't like it ). Here are the steps: STEP 1: Go to S-market, Prisma or K-market ( or anywhere that sells coffee ) STEP 2: Find coffee section STEP 3: Take 1 Juhla Mokka ( coffee pack ) and buy it STEP 4: give it to a finn
One fact about finland. Finland has 2 official languages. Finnish and swedish and everytime i say im from finland people say. ”Say something finnish.” And i always have to explain finland has 2 languages and that im one of the few that talk swedish.
Do I have to choose one favorite thing about Finland, really? I love this place, it's so safe and just amazing. Yeah, our summers are sometimes quite crappy and this winter we didn't get much snow until just before christmas, at least in the central Finland. But when we do have snow, oh boy let me tell you it's so beautiful. When it's over 20 degrees celsius in summer, it's already pretty hot. I think that tells a bit about our climate, not very warm. Equality and safety, if I have to pick favorites, these two will win. I can go outside alone and not get kidnapped or killed there. Women can do pretty much the same stuff as men. Marriage between the same sex is legal (good for me, woop woop). Okay I'll end it here, but before I go, everyone tell me how old you think I am (I know that's a bit weird but it's for fun) Ok bye :D
G'day , that's amazing , we have the same sort of society here in Australia except the weather is totally opposite ,sun ,surf and cold cold beer . Love to swap holidays , what an experience for both cultures.
I'm from Korea(South, obviously), currently living in Finland. I've been here for 5 months, and I find it amazing that almost everyone in Helsinki speaks perfect English! And I looooooooove summer here.

Yooo finland! 🇫🇮🇫🇮 if it already hasn’t been mentioned in the comments, here in Finland we’ve had free school meals since 1948.
Brutal and Inexcusable .. what do you mean cant feed? we are served food at home too xd
Brutal and Inexcusable no.
we have money and eat most our food at home.
school just serves a healthy meal for free wich is just great
Brutal and Inexcusable We got free healthcare, free education, free school meals, unlimited dataplans for +15euros a month and a buttload of other free services, but boy oh boy...imagine the taxes, finlands taxes belong to the top 15 highest in the world because of it i believe.
That's about as many civilized countries as there are! I wonder how many of the other civilized countries also make the top 15 ;).
nope Yes. Funny. And for the school food - it's not always as good as people think as it's only under 1€ per student which means the quality might just not be at its best. It's free at least I guess..

I'm Finnish, we have a sauna in our basement, just like every other Finnish family, and I'm drinking coffee right now while making this comment :D
And Fun Fact: So when Finland was a part of Sweden in the early 1800's, Napoleon Bonaparte himself wanted to make a continental barrier to Great Britain, because they were enemies with France, so Napoleon needed other countries to help him.

There is a lowest weight that the "wife" is supposed to weigh and if she's under the limit, they'll add weights, I believe the lowest weight is around 50kg. Yes, I've lived in the town that has this race and I've been there a couple of times. :D
Elisa k would you consider to be my “racing “ wife ;)?
Adas Kozojebowski Well I'm around 10kg above the lowest weight so I think you might succeed better with a lighter "wife" but otherwise sure I would be your race wife! :D
Also, I heard the heavier the weight of the "wife" or woman, the more beer you get as a reward. This is the reason sometimes the guy decides to carry a heavier one
Thank you :)

I am American can born 100% Finnish ancestry. I’m stubborn, Love chilly weather, full of Sisu, and I’m a huge coffee fan.
Feel free to move in here, you fit right in =)
I'm not from Finland. ..I'm from INDIA...& I like the Education system of Finland
it sucks. Everyone is so over educated you can't get the shitties job even if you are engineer level.
In Finland we has lots of "saunas". The Santa Claus lives in Lapland, Finland not in the North pole. Finland has amazing foods like "mämmi".
Palloilija 19 hyii
i fucking hate mämmi :'P
Stefan Nilsson same
Stefan Nilsson mämmi got rejected
Here in Finland there are about one sauna for each person living here.*
I'm from Finland and I love my country. Best things in Finland are snow, nature and aurora borealis.
Fact: (I dont know if this is really true)They say that finnish is the most difficult language in the world to learn.
kiitos!
Hi friend, im very interested in Finland and i heard the people there is very nice. im a chinese staying in Malaysia. can i ask u a question,do you guys welcome immigrant? Thanks
It really depends on the person

One fact about finland. Finland has 2 official languages. Finnish and swedish and everytime i say im from finland people say. ”Say something finnish.” And i always have to explain finland has 2 languages and that im one of the few that talk swedish.
I live in Australia but I'm half Finnish
Alisha Mat finnish*
can you help me?
That is actually sexy ;)
A young, energetic 41?
Lol aw this is cute. 20 years old?

G'day , that's amazing , we have the same sort of society here in Australia except the weather is totally opposite ,sun ,surf and cold cold beer . Love to swap holidays , what an experience for both cultures.
Just saying, Finnish summer weather is amazing. Maybe it rains from time to time but it usually clears up quickly and the temperatures are perfect.
Finland 🇫🇮, one of my favorite country (from PH 🇵🇭)
I'm from Korea(South, obviously), currently living in Finland. I've been here for 5 months, and I find it amazing that almost everyone in Helsinki speaks perfect English! And I looooooooove summer here.
