I just heat it up add whatever seasoning you normally would. Butter, sugar, salt, pepper flakes, whatever you like. You could also use it in other items that call for cabbage and just add it in later in the cooking steps.
That gauge looked rusted..When was the last time you had it checked for accuracy? I get my gauge checked every year at the local ag extension office.. They last about 2-3 years before they go out of tolerance and then I toss them and install a new one that has also been checked..

It is fine it got water in it once and left a rust ring before it dried. It tested fine. Thanks for the concern.
