Hard to believe we just passed the twenty years anniversary of this.
RIP Kevin Clark (Freddy)
Why? No access to calendars?
@@docsavage8640 Of course I do. It means time has flown by. It feels like yesterday when the ten year anniversary reunion/concert happened.
So sad. May he rock wherever he is
I had the biggest crush on him when this came out. Was so sad to hear he passed
This movie is literally just Jack Black telling kids to believe in themselves through music for 90 minutes. It's fantastic.
One of the most wholesome movies ever. The way Jack Black and the kids interact with each other is so effing heartwarming.
He's also giving them lifelong problems with authority and teaching them to lie to their parents lol
This is the movie that Jack Black is most proud of and it changed how music teachers have taught lessons since it's release.
Citation needed.
its= possessive
it's= it is
@@docsavage8640Nice to see real cunt! Welcome!
It's such a wholesome fun movie. Someone probably has recommended it already but you should watch their reunion live performance.
Jack Black hams it up mercilessly in a role that was absolutely made for him. Right from the very start when he tries to jump into the non- existent mosh pit you know this is going to be great. Being a musician myself, and having been around guys like this even makes it more fun. Some great bits in this film especially when he can't spell his name on the blackboard, and he says to the kids about Led Zepplin 'don't tell me you guys never got the Led out'. Sarah Silverman is great as the the nagging girlfriend, and real satisfying ending. Just a great fun film.
Good moment in there that she tells him to stand up for himself, and he finally does stand up to her constant control.
According to Max Brooks his mother Anne Bancroft saw Jack Black in a school play when he was a teenager and said he was the next Marlon Brando cos he had such charisma and acting skill from a young age. That's why he can really ham it up and over play a part and still make it work.
I saw this in a flight terminal coming back from a deployment. There was about 20 of us waiting for the C-130, and none of us had seen the movie before. Sadly, they stopped the movie with about 10 minutes left. It was a huge disappointment for all of us. 😂
Same thing happened to me with Stepbrothers. 🤣 Boats and Hoes. 🤣🤣🤣
When I first saw School of Rock, I didn't realize it was a comedy. I laughed so much, and I had so much fun watching it. It's so good!
You thought you were laughing at a serious dramatic film?
@docsavage8640 I wouldn't really say that. Until my teacher showed it to my class, I didn't even know it existed. I saw the show on nickelodeon and liked it. I then saw the movie, which had the same plot as the show. I then realized it was a comedy a few minutes in.
When did you realize it was a comedy? If you laughed, wouldnt you think its a comedy?
@crealkillr I think I realized it was a comedy either if my teacher told me or I saw Jack Black was the lead. Both are possible, but I realized it quickly either way.
Absolutely love Joan Cusack in this
This film helped me get into the genre of Rock and I am forever grateful
You might like videos from a real school of rock, Okeefe Music School. The videos of the kids playing are on RUclips.
Blessed with the ROCK!!!!
@@Deathbird_MitchI second or third this depending on where we are. They do some amazing work for sure. The Slipknot series they do is some of the best stuff out there.
You have chosen the path of pain...
It's a long way to the top, if you want to Rock & Roll.
Jack's best movie, no question. Not just because of the acting but huge respect to him and the creative team for the way they portrayed rock music and the enthusiasm for playing music. And the message is "stand up for what you believe in". As a guitarist, this is level 10 for me. (Tenacious D is also good but I like SOR better because of its enthusiasm and the "educational layer".)
If you want to hear more of Jack Black singing, please check out Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny!!! It's one of my favorites
Master Exploder!
@Addie Counts if you liked the movie, and we know you did, look up the School of Rock reunion concert
Sadly, the drummer died in 21. He was hit by a car while riding his bike
I know Becca Brown, the bassist, had a yt channel. She has an amazing voice
the girl with the weight issue is a singer now and has released an album
I'm pretty sure the guitarist ended up in jail
@@sethrickard2154 I can't get behind people making up lies like that. Jeez
Addie you should check out the reunion concert these guys did a few years ago. All these kids grown up and playing music with Jack Black was super cool to watch.
supposedly they are planning another one.. looking forward to it
They had a reunion last year..every band member still plays their instruments AND ARE AWESOME!
A great movie, and I adore Joan Cusack in this movie. 🙂 "Mad? I'm FURIOUS!" 😀
When he takes her to the bar, I love how she sips her beer, like she's never had it before. 😂 Comedy genius that's largely overlooked.
Ahhh yes, a true "classic" of sorts lol, I remember in grade school when the library would give out book binders from this movie 🥹 great memories 👏🏽 love your content Addie 🙏🏽
It's sad to admit, but I think 20 years is long enough for a class lol.
Fun Fact, Summer, aka Miranda Cosgrove, the girl that couldn’t sing, later became a famous pop singer and popular actress.
High Fidelity
Fun fact: this movie is loosely based on a real program with the same name. I wish I knew about the School of Rock program when I was a kid, cuz as someone that's been a musician my whole life, I would've LOVED to have been a part of it
Not even kidding, one of my favorite movies ever. My friend and I quote it all the time. It’s so much better than it had any right to be.
Btw, since you’re a theater person, the actor who plays Theo (the singer of No Vacancy) is Adam Pascal, the original Roger from Rent.
That look of disbelief when they lost the contest was priceless! You were so upset!
Great reaction and one his best movies ever. Also Nacho Libre is one his all time greats too!! Also helping children ❤
RIP to Kevin Clark (aka Freddy) 🙏🏼
The kid playing the drummer unfortunately died a few years ago in a traffic accident. And the kid playing the guitarist has had a lot of personal issues.
i actually rewatch this movie a lot and it was during one of my rewatches i went on twitter when the credits were playing just to hear the news of his passing. i was so stunned, such a shame. seemed like a cool dude and was a cool ass drummer.
Check out their reunion concert. The cast got back together!
Fun Fact: Miranda Cosgrove, who plays Summer Hathaway in the movie, can sing. She took about a 45-minute "bad singing" lesson to sing horrible for the song "Memory" when Jack Black's character was looking for backup singers. According to the Blu-ray commentary, she sang awesome for the movie's title song as a demonstration.
Hey addie love your reactions, may i suggest tenacious d and the pick of destiny for your next jack black reaction i think its a movie you would really enjoy 🙂
fun fact, I went to high school with Becca Brown (the bassist), we are in our 30s now, enjoy.
My favorite moment in the movie "Do you need a hug!!??". 😂🤣
I adore Joan Cusack.
I think Jack Black would have been an insanely awesome teacher himself!
yes!!! GREAT surprise! This will be right up your alley, im sure! Can't wait!
There's something about this movie.
It may not be the best filmaking, script, representation, serious, tecnical movie ever, but it's made with such love, respect and care for Rock n Roll history and fanbase that.. It inspires!
Did you know: This movie was adapted into an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. When I saw it on Broadway, before the show started a recorded message by Sir Andrew was played. He said something to the effect that audiences always want to know if the children on stage are actually playing their instruments. And he said they most definitely ARE playing live, which drew a huge roar from the audience even before the curtain went up. I think I like the movie a bit more, but the musical is definitely very good and worth seeking out.
There's actually a School Of Rock for the kids in California. I'm not sure about other states. They learn an instrument or sing , and at one part of the school year or graduation they put on a show as a band.
You should see some of the meetings they did in real life live, they all grew up
So the guy plays spider, Jack black’s replacement in his orginal band is now a district attorney in Texas 😂
I passed high school geography because of the Animaniacs "Nations of the World," "The Presidents," and "The States and their Capitols."
🎸PICK OF DESTINY - You MUST react to The Pick of Destiny.😈
As a former sub, who took an electric guitar to every class I worked in, and subbed for music to math to science and the rest, worked the worst schools in the district, and used music as a mechanism for classroom management (Metallica, AC⚡DC, etc), Jack Black in this movie is a personal hero.💪🎵
🥰I reveled in your delight as this movie developed.🎉
🤘"Rock is not The Devil's work
🤘It's magical and rad"
If you don't know, JB and Kage will teach you.
💜Tenacious D - The Pick of Destiny🎶
Fun fact : the kids playing instruments in the movie were the ones actually playing the instruments. There's a video out there of them reuniting 10 years after the movie for a concert.
Is that not obvious from the credits sequence alone?
"jack black as himself" The movie.
"I'm distracted by... [gestures] all of this." 😉😎
Jack Black's finest role
Masterpiece ever. Great
This is my sister's favorite Jack Black film and she's not a big fan of Jack Black.
Fun Fact - The actor who plays Spider is now the District Attorney of Tyler County, Texas.
Seeing Miranda Cosgrove (Summer) as such a wee baby makes me feel old. 🧓🧓
This movie is great, if you want to see a movie that uses more of his own songs, i strongly recommend " Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny"
One of my favourite scenes is the van ride when kids are introduced to "Immigrant Song". I wish you had kept it in and your reaction to it.
Reactors have to worry about copyright strikes on YT, that's why for example most of the music is edited out.
@@treetopjones737 though I am aware of these facts, my yearnings remain. Can still wish it though, can't I?
I went to see this movie every weekend that it was in theaters back in 2003.
this movie is allready a classic,i enjoyed your constant smiling
One of my favs! Thank you so much for watching this! Awesome
This film is Directed by Richard Linklater and if you like this watch "Dazed and Confused" and "Before Sunrise" and all of his films. Written by White, "Grosse Point Blank" is amazing, staring John and Joan(principal) Cusack and "High Fidelity", a book written by Nick Hornby and translated to Chicago.
I grew up in where the book is set.
Loved the reaction. And thanks again for Allowing me to see it for the first time. There's more to everything in film.😊
Lived the years Dazed & Confused is allegedly about, that movie is crap.
@@treetopjones737 well, opinions differ. I grew up in the 80s but it was nothing like a John Hughes movie. I never traveled through time and certainly never knew any hot, female welders dreaming of a dance career... It's entertainment. Dazed and Confused is just a nostalgic, fictional look back at a by-gone era. If you don't like then ok, don't watch it again, but it's definitely not crap, there's a difference between fact and opinion.
I lived it, movie is a poor attempt at nostalgia. Breakfast Club wasn't made as nostalgia of the 80's, it is about teen HS stereotypes. And it was well written and acted, D & C. was not.
Jack Black had a role in "Cable Guy" as well that was dark comedy.
By the way Addie ,"you're the man"
Cable Guy is not a Jack Black movie, just because he was in it.
You watch the Cable Guy for Jim Carrey
I believe they had a reunion concert fairy recently.
RIP to the drummer kid
This was fun watching this film again with you! Thanks for the smiles. Rock-on!🤘🏽
And a beautiful smile it is that you have
My favorite fun fact for this movie is that the replacement bass player, Spyder, is now a District Attorney in Texas lol.
Never expected to see this in the feed but yeno what I’m going to watch it all! ☺️
Its not so quietly, one of the best movies ever.
The reason they didn't win is because they were allowed in as a sympathy roster. The judges were likely told they were intelligible because of this and they weren't even considered.
*ineligible
I didn’t even think about that!
@@bossfan49 autocorrect
Great movie, great reaction.
For fun: Jack Black is the host for the Kennedy Center Honors program for Led Zeppelin -- watch the whole thing, not just the Heart cover of Stairway to Heaven.
For fun, 2: There are videos of School of Rock cast reunions -- watch 'em.
For fun, 3: There is (or was) an actual School of Rock -- check out their videos, esp. their cover of California Dreamin'.
Love love love this film. Jack Black is certainly one of a kind.
ALWAYS MAKES ME CRY
Love this movie. I saw it the first time at the Stockholm International Film Festival where it was a so called "surprise film", meaning we had no idea what film was going to be shown. So when the movie started the audience didn't know what film they were going to see. It was a great night with many laughs. Jack Black rocks!
RIP Kevin Clark 🤘🥺
Great reaction and from ACDC is one of my Favorit Songs in it 😊
It's been a while since I watched this. Thanks for bringing it back and making it fresh! I liked Joan Cusack as the Principal, too.
Joan Cusack is Legend
In Orlando, and probably some other cities, we have a School of Rock after school program for kiddos.
I am like 90% sure watching this as a kid was the single biggest influence in my life
"Teacher-student confidentiality."
"And I know I've touched them."
"Your kids are missing."
Y'all itching to get hurt, eh? Lol
Cannot trust a person who doesnt like this movie. It's so perfectly done :)
I love this movie and loved rock and roll 🎸🤟 Black Jack the best role ever
Check out the reunion concert when you get a chance, Addie :)
I saw this movie with a group of friends in theaters. It was surprisingly amazing. Glad you got to enjoy.
I looked up the kids a while back to see if they continued on. I believe only a couple continued with music or acting. One unfortunately passed away.
Awesome reaction of my favorite Jack Black movie!!!!
Fantastic reaction. I, too, can recite the 50 states alphabetically because of an elementary school song that never left my brain! Can't believe I'm not the only one 😂
This might be my favorite reaction of yours.
And such a pretty smile to. Lot's of love Addie.
Fun one, Addie! 😄
rip freddy 🕊️
This is one of my top favorite movies, such a great movie all around. Jack Black and the rest of the cast are amazing. Marta and Frankie actors are actually dating. Also R.I.P. Kevin Clark aka Freddy "Spazzy McGee" Jones.
A favorite in my house. Seen it so many times. I saw it originally in the theater on first release. RIP Freddy Jones.
Oh, Nacho Libre is another great Jack Black movie!
If you'd like another great movie with Jack Black and Joan Cusack in it, revolving somewhat around music too: High Fidelity is underrated and really cool
This movie is an absolute classic and nobody could have done a better job than Jack Black. I will watch any movie he's in because he's the epitome of fun and entertaining. And on top of that he's also a super nice person in real life so I will support him in anything he's part of. And RIP Kevin Clark (Freddy).
Jack Black in Gulliver's Travels.
If you want more of his comedy around music, give Tenacious D a watch. Really fun flick.
Watching Addie the performer react to the last performance scene was awesome.
One of the true feel good films of the last 20 years. Richard Linkletter knows how to make his characters so relatiable and lovable. You should definitely check out Dazed and Confused and Everybody Wants Some!!!. If you had a fun time with School of Rock you will have so much fun with those two other Linkletter classics.
Jack Black is the definition of charisma.
Great reaction👍
It was sad, but the drummer in the kids band, passed away. He was a bike messenger and was hit by a car.
Gotta watch Shallow Hal
Knew you'd love this one. Very fun movie that is pretty re-watchable. Suggesting other Jack Black movies : High Fidelity and Orange County.
What about Shallow Hal
Orange County was a very small movie, it just “came and went”
If you want to see him in a more serious role, The Holiday is a good movie (or at least I think so).
