    Awesome and insightful video man, it helps a lot. The only other question I have is; Since these are smaller snakes what should I start feeding mine and how long should I give them to feed since I just got him? Also what size did you get yours at and what did you start feeding with? Thank you in advance🙏🏻

    • @JosuesExotics
      @JosuesExotics  2 года назад +1

      Sorry I’ve been backed up with comments! But I always size my rodents by how big the widest part of the snake and go from there. Like if you were to lay the mouse parallel to the snake it should be bigger than that section. So I started feeding mine hopper mice since he was maybe 11in long? You can do pinkies but maybe 2 or 3 would be great.

    [ definitely appreciate the video. Some years ago, a assisted a friend in capturing a few pigmies in Georgia and North Carolina. I have always appreciated they snakes and thinking about getting one. So, watching your video gave me a little more insight as I continue to research caring for these. I am in Houston, TX , which is is legal to possess these. Do you happen to know any breeders? Thanks

    I remember catching a wild one in Appalachicola. He was about the size of a half dollar when I bought him, and was eating adult mice before I had to sell him before I moved. They are cool snakes.

    Do these guys tend to need UV-A or UV-B lamps? Being a basking species, I'm curious if they would benefit from it at all...

    • @JosuesExotics
      @JosuesExotics  2 года назад +2

      Definitely a good question. Both types would be good to use but uvb would probably be better. I’m just using a heat lamp but if I decide to go bio active with the enclosure then I’ll switch the lamps!

    If i was going to keep one, I would always wear my thick gloves, use a hook, and try to read the snake behavior pattern. I don't think handling or especially free handling would be an option it's not worth the risk

    Asking for real, why would you want venomous snakes? I’m terrified of snakes and I live in Oklahoma. I keep finding Pygmy’s on my 2 acres and that’s not okay! I have dogs, children, and the biggest baby of all- me! Is there a reason you’d have venomous snakes in captivity? Eeeeek! You may have all of mine! Also, is there a reason I keep finding them right now? I do not know their mating habits and have never seen snakes here in 7 years. I have found 3 Pygmy’s in the last few months! Does this mean momma just had babies? Do I have a nest somewhere? I can’t even bare the thought while I’m typing this. I may have to move. Lol. So troubled by this. I keep my property mowed and mostly clutter free! Thanks for your time.

    • @JosuesExotics
      @JosuesExotics  2 года назад +5

      Well I just have certain snakes that I find interesting! They just happen to be venomous! They are gorgeous snakes to look at and observe as well! But we’re getting in that point we’re there might be babies around that are growing up! So you’re probably right!
