  • ...A Mermaid Appeared on Miami Beach
WTVJ's C.T. Taylor reports on the dedication of "Mermaid," a new piece of public art on Miami Beach.
The $100,000 mixed-media sculpture by pop demigod Roy Lichtenstein was placed on the east lawn of the Beach's Theater of the Performing Arts, no longer the Municipal Auditorium and not yet the Jackie Gleason Theater of the Performing Arts.
Taylor gets a sampling of public opinion on the new artwork (1 yea, 1 nay) and hears from artist Roy Lichtenstein, who says of his creation, "It say something about the sun and the water and mermaids..."
Note to art journalists: Artists make art. If they could talk about art, they wouldn't be artists. They'd be critics. Or journalists.
