Back in 1976 I was working at Burlington Coca Cola. I got a call " take the spare truck with a load of Cokes to Siler City. Wound up staying there just about a year. Got to know Mr. & Mrs. Johnson, when I went every week to deliver a couple of 5 gallon syrup cans. He would make me a burger just about every time I went. I try to make a few trips a year now when I can . They are probably the best burgers in N.C.
I am a local from Pittsboro and I do LOVE their cheeseburgers.. the staff are friendly.. however the locals that eat there can be a little rude and look at you sideways when you walk in and they notice you not being a regular. we are not regulars due to the patrons that eat there NOT due to their food and staff... We would get take out from there more if their hours were longer!! wish they had a place in pittsboro like this one! then maybe I could sit down and eat with my local pittsboro crew and not get the sideways looks or hear some of their comments.. lol but yes you MUST MUST MUST try their food! delish!! (aydia is not posting this though her aunt is I could not figure out how to change the name lol)
Not from anywhere near there. Made a point to stop in on a trip due to hearing about it from a friend. I get what people are saying about the local glare, but who above 7 yrs old gives a rip. Every small community has jackasses...I just enjoyed my burger and smiled while grease ran down my chin. The burger, it was good, but certainly to each his own as I definitely don't consider it the best. It's a lot like art, music. Theatre, cars etc, just a matter of taste. I kinda get a high being the non-local who "dares" go to a greasy old burger joint that I don't live within 3 miles of! The outrage! Pfft

Sir, they'll let anybody in that wants a great meal, and has money to pay for it. These are some of the nicest folks that you'll ever meet. So, give em a try. Trust me, after you're done with your meal you won't regret it.
Its not that they don't let Hispanics in. I think it mostly the other costumers if an Hispanic walked in they would give them a good stare. But hopefully this changes that way they have even more customers.
Southern Skeptic i never understood how racist white folks have so much to say about something they will never understand and don’t want to understand. I think folks just want to give everyone a full picture of what you are getting yourself into if you are Black or Latin instead of walking in blindly thinking it’s your typical restaurant where most people could care less what you look like
This is absolutely NOT the best burger in NC. It does not even come close. The one time I visited this place my burgers were burned up, the tomatoes were yellow, and the buns were stale. Actually this place rates as one of the WORST burgers in NC. Don't waste your time or money.

I haven’t been much lately, they closed down for a while 6 or 7 years ago and one of the waitresses from Brownie Lu’s told me she was reopening it. I went once since then but I never think about it when I’m around. The Sidewalk Cafe had a pretty good burger but they closed a few years ago. I got a good burger at Hayley Bales once but it was pricey. I’ve never eaten at Johnson’s, I’ve went with some friends twice but we turned around and walked out both times because of the line.

S&T's Soda Shoppe in Pittsboro does a WAY better burger than johnson's.
