  • While on the topic…
of being deceived (episode 72 🎙️) let’s recognize these misconceptions about REST.
    1) We don’t need to wait until everything is done. Spoiler alert… it can’t all be done.
    2) Don’t wait until the tank is empty. Do we do that with our driving? I think not. Or rather, I hope not.
    3) Proactive rest in some seasons is finding pockets of time daily to do so. I’m there now and it is possible.
    4) Use the temptation to rush as a reminder to pause and rest too. Be a rebel in this hurry and busy world: REST instead.
Rest… I had it wrong for a while and even ran from it. For years, I was afraid of being still. It was one area I was deceived in. If you listened this week on the podcast I shared how with my first child, I really resisted resting. People recommended I take some time before the baby came and instead I worked until the day I went into labor. I remember, finally sitting down as I had just finished my last tutoring session. I was on the phone with a friend and she asked me what I was going to do now that I could finally rest and relax. It was minutes after her question that the birthing pains and such started. There was no time to rest in a literal sense.
Let’s not resist rest. Let rethink it and understand it as it is meant to be. ⬇️
Rest is a beautiful and necessary gift.
We are called to rest. It’s a command. We are supposed to rest. It’s a blessing to be able to…
God knows us so well, better than we know ourselves. He knows we need to rest. God Himself rested right in Genesis. So why do we ever think we don’t need to? Let the rhythms of sweet rest replace the ruminating and running.
Rest in God. Reflect on His goodness. ♡
Be still and know. (Psalm 46:10)
    How will you rest today?
“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.”
    ‭‭(Psalm‬ ‭62‬:‭1‬)
“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.”
    ‭‭(Psalm 62‬:‭5‬)
