  • Join me on a solo overnight wild camp in the Berner-Oberland near Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. First time backpacking in the mountains so did a little trip to test out my new gear.

Is camping allowed in Switzerland? Is it safe to camp so close to the river?

Not officially outside of actual campsites but usually if you're high enough in the mountains (above the tree line so around 1800m or higher), outside of wildlife reserves and national parks and being respectful of nature and wildlife, no one will come bother you :) or at least that's been my experience. As for being close to the river, it's generally pretty safe if it's not raining or going to rain but gotta make your own judgement calls.
