    I have short term memory loss and dyslexia. Altho I have an IQ around 125. I can't spell or remember most of what I learn... Bla. So frustrating. I graduated from college with a BS in industrial tech and landed a high and project manager job.... I failed miserably. Sigh. I could not remember project names... Construction schedules. Now I work in pest control and it's amazing! It pays around 60k a year and short term memory is not utilized that often. Anyway. Your not the only one. And yes I also had my cord rapt around my neck when born.

    This is so real for me. I have struggled with short term and long term memory loss my whole life. It’s a relief hearing someone talk about things that are happening in your brain. Feel free to reach out, ive never met anyone who has struggled like I have.

    Thanks for this video! I have the same thing, traumatic brain injury at birth and short term memory issues, though long term memory is great. It's frustrating trying to get other people to understand what it is. Repetition is so important for me, as well. I write down notes for everything. I've had problems keeping jobs in the past, though right now I'm lucky to have employers who understand my issue. I've sometimes also referred to my disability as a form of dementia, except when you're young. Like, being born with Alzheimer's/dementia.

    This is me!! My lungs collapsed due to when I was 15 and got brain damage, lost my identity and live with amnesia. I relate to everything you say. I put myself in dementia category too!
    I also hate when people say you can do anything if you try harder...college was hard for me too. I went& got my bachelors but I feel it was pointless with my amnesia. My brain messes up sounds too.
    Omg I cant believe someone else is out there in this world like me

    I struggle with this after falling ill several years ago. It's a lonely illness, and the reaction I receive from people when I forget things makes me want to disappear. People view it as sub-human, and all it makes me want to do is cry.

    I had inflammation of my brain a few years ago (my brain got cured). Since 2015 I've had the memory of a gold fish.
    So, I was told, that in 2015 (year 11 at school) I had had a seizure during a lesson. An ambulance was called, I was in a hospital for 1-2 weeks. I looked at my reflection (because one eye was squinting) and saw that half of my face was swollen and I had 2 stitches in my eyebrow.

      @@YtGabrielleRegina My dad told me that I create connections between things and that helps me to remember better. Like he'd show me a BLUE BIKE in the morning. Then, in the evening, he'd ask me what we did today (which also makes me try to remember, what we did). Then he'd ask me what he showed me in the morning. I don't remember the BLUE BIKE. Then I'd see bikes and a blue shirt, I'd create a connection between those things and I'd remember that he showed me a BLUE BIKE :)
      Maybe that "creating connections way" will also help you?

    Im 18 years old i develepod short term memory threw a few concussion and emotional neglect. I slipped and hit my head on a concrete flore, i blacked out for a few seconds.
    Having short term memory combined with adhd is not a good combo.
    If god exists then he did not have a good day when i was bored.
    I have been diagnosed with adhd, ptsd Reactive attachment disorder, depression, anxiety, torets, dyslexia, short term memory loss and insomnia.
    Having a stabil job is hard when your boss don't even give you a chance to even try.
    But at the end i always want to make the best out of life and make people happy.

      @@YtGabrielleRegina thanks that really means alot right now. Today i tattooed myself on inputs, I think people take life to serious sometimes. Even if the lines are uneven because of adrenaline and the shaking hands i think is kinda nice. Not everything in life needs to be totally perfect. And if you accept that everything don't need to be, then you will enjoy it alot . That my take on life.

    My boyfriend tends to forget things quite often. It makes me really frustrated. Your video made me realize that maybe he isn't choosing to forget. Pehaps he has a real problem. What type of accommodations and supports did they provide you with during your time in school? I am a psychology major and I'm really interested in what supports are actually provided to students with disabilities.

    • @YtGabrielleRegina
      @YtGabrielleRegina  6 лет назад +3

      AngelFeatherFairy I had an iep in school which is accommodations with learning disability’s :) it really helped me to learn better

    • @dat1phoenix173
      @dat1phoenix173 6 лет назад +2

      well, the IEP is the meeting itself and all the service providers like the school psychologist, counselor, sped teacher, gen ed teacher etc attend.
      As in for accommodations did they allow you to use notes for tests? or give you preferential seating? I am glad they helped you :)

    I also forgot to mention how I said I feel like you my condition is so similar to dementia & dyslexic but I forgot(🙄) to ask find Im like autistic people too. Do you feel that way too? After my brain damage I struggle socially& many of my symptoms are identical to those on the spectrum just its worse because of the amnesia as well.
