Finally! I've been waiting for this one from you. Nice job! I always enjoy these.
I got my start with the SE and it was a great introduction into single edge shaving for me. But I wanted to explore something else that was a little closer/more efficient so I was between the Supply Pro and the Leaf Thorn. I ended up going with the Pro and that adjustable dial was a game changer for me.
I use the SE when I want a quicker shave since its a vit more forgiving and the Pro when I want to enjo the shaving experience and get very close. Youd think id be happy with that but here I am wanting to try the Leaf Twig/Thorn. 😂
As for your question about the shave brush, I use a synthetic brush and I dont over saturate it with water. Ill start with a small amount with the shave cream and add as I go if necessary and that helps me get that creamy texture without it feeling dry.
Thanks again for sharing! Take care, friend!

I’m glad you got the pro. That dial right?! The leaf twig and thorn are super similar. If you want to try one go with the the thorn; it will be slightly closer than the Supply SE. Leaf and Supply are my fav razors at the moment. Again awesome seeing your comments!
Also good to know about your water/brush situation. It’s something I’m continuously improving.

I’m new to your channel. It’s always interesting to see how people with unusual interests tend to share other unusually interests. Over the years, I have collected 20 razors, six ascots, and an undisclosed number of notebooks and minimalist shoes… If you ride a bicycle, I’m going to guess that it’s a recumbent. Right?
I like my Twig when I want an easy, no-think shave; but what’s the fun in that? I really like the ease of shaving under my nose.
About water, I tend to go wetter with razors that clog easy. The Focus is an example of that.

I have tried the Supply SE but not the Leaf Twig and I was not satisfied with the Supply SE.
It was hard to tell if I was using it right, they did send me a link on beard mapping but that didn't really make a difference.
The Supply SE is not intuitive and hard to clean well in my opinion.
I originally got the Supply SE trying to transition from cartridge and electric shavers so my inexperience plays a factor into it.
I've concluded that the Supply SE isn't for me personally.

When you compare two razors, you need to ensure that they stay on their own side of the fence. In other words, half your face is shaved with one, the other half with the second razor. If you look at your video, you are all over the map. How can you compare how the shave went both razors have been migrating over to the other side of your face? You're a naughty boy. Here's the secret to a fantastic lather, done in a lathering bowl. (1) Measure 1/16 tsp of soap (aka a "PINCH"). (2) Add 1/2 Tbsp (tablespoon) of DISTILLED water. (3) With your thumb, mix the soap/water mixture until it becomes a slurry (4) With a slightly damp synthetic brush, whip the slurry into a fantastic lather. I have tried this method with a variety of high-end soaps such as Lothur and Barrister & Mann; it works great with either one.

What did you think about that little knob/button on this Supply SE Razor? I think that button is great to just remove the part to of the razor’s head to clean the inside, which is convenient, but I’m not crazy about how the turning of the button/knob feels. It’s not a smooth turn that comes to a stop, turning it doesn’t feel good quality. How long is that spring on it going to last? And it’s hard to tell when you should stop tightening it and know when you should stop tightening it.
What were your thoughts about that?
And can you use regular double edge razors to pop in half and insert in this Supply Co. SE Razor?
    Thanks:)

Great question. Your hair lies a certain way on your skin. When you shave go with the grain first time around always. If you need to get closer then you go against.
On your cheeks it most like lies down, towards your chin/jaw. But neck it can lie in different directions. Run your hand along your hair and feel when you’re with or against when it’s grown in.
If you get bumps or ingrown. I’d recommend not going against. Hope this helps.

I like the art deco look of the leaf. I’ll add one to my collection. The injector blades are a no go for me.
No I prefer a wetter brush. I get way more lather pop with a wet vs dry brush. Too much water just takes me more face lather effort. I prefer a way more dense lather that’s way more hydrated then this. I’ve learned if it’s not hydrated & dense you are selling that soap very short & not getting half the benefit that soap offers.
Thanks for the reminder to use the shave secret oil. Been ages since I tried it.

      @FashionableFather  Год назад +1

Thanks for the comment. And great advice for the lather. I’m still finding the balance. Also that oil is fantastic; I believe preshave oil is more important than soap.

@@FashionableFather yes the art deco allure has been what caught my attention. All my other razors looks so similar.
I hate proprietary stuff. I don’t like feather blades. I have 3-5 different favorite blades & most of my razors can’t take any of them. I stepped away from multi blade razors 🪒 because I didn’t like being chained to one choice.
I tried the shave secret today. Being honest I didn’t love it. I think it gives me worse shaves. I’ve heard pre shave oils can make the blade drag not sure if that’s what I’m feeling but the same razors/blades don’t seem as smooth. I’ll try the Proraso pre shave again as I also didn’t love that.
Once I switched to face lathering & work up a dense hydrated lather with cushion I found I don’t need any pre shave ritual. I used to exfoliate, shower, hot water rinse.
Now I can shave no shower even cold water & no problems at all. Another game changer is I ring the soap from the brush at the end and put it on my face & let it sit the entire time I clean up everything. It often soaks in a lot & makes for great soft post shaves.
Those 2 tricks revolutionized my shaving experiences.
