Anyone know his 100 meter time? I haven't heard of a javelin thrower running much under 11 seconds. But his broad jump is around 10 and a half feet which along with the 400 pound bench press is awesome. Finally, putting all that power together with outstanding throwing form is what delivers a 300 foot throw. What is really impressive is the speed he releases at.
I shit my pants today. His single jump is 3.57m; today I just jumped 3.27m with only a single year of javelin training. I aim to be at 3.57m by next year.
I think the lockout being so bad is because of the straps, You cannot lock out completely because of the straps, perhaps he does them really tight to really save his forearms for the javelin throwing. Not saying his cleans are perfect, but one should take into account the weightlifting straps.
It's too bad no one captured some of the things Russian Jan Lusis could do as he was also a world class decathlete. Lusis won bronze, silver and gold in the 64, 68 and 72 Olympics and was a strong 300 foot thrower with the old device.
+Matthew Gottlieb Jānis Lūsis is Latvian (representing CCCP at that time). Here is some stats i found: 100m - 11.2m; long jump- 7.17m; shot put- 14.83; high jump- 1.9m; 400m- 51.9; 110 m/b- 15.5 Discus throw- 37.58; Pole vult- 3.6m; 1500m- 4:50.3 That's in competitions. ;)
@orcanader I Think Pitkamaki did his bench on purpose like that. It is now more a decline bench press than a flat one. And well his snatch technique seems alright. With the power clean I agree that his elbows should be higher. But on the other hand it can be tha with lower weights he has the proper technique and then when he trains with heavy weights he can't fully perform the clean on technique, but just raw power.
@orcanader Proper form would be more efficient if he was going for lifting competition, sometime it is more important that you move the weight rather than be perfect in form
@godsXmadeXme Finland have -Tero Pitkämäki -Teemu Wirkkala -Antti Ruuskanen -Sampo Lehtola -Harri Haatainen AND ZELESNY WAS BEST! Or not...(Aki Parviainen) was better
no heis an athlete hahaha... why do you have to look like bodybuilder to lift much O.o? ceck hammer throwers javelin throwers and diskus .. they just get strong :)
thats absolute rubbish. some people are way more susseptable to injury and similar things like that which may prevent you from getting to the top. basically what you are saying is that everyone can be as smart as einstein if they put in enough hard work, i honestly doubt that...
I remember the joy when he already was world champion but threw the last throw over 90m just to prove a point. Was amazing.
...what a great video to watch for any javelin thrower...take note of all of Tero's weight lifting, indoor training, and throwing technique....
Absolutely one of the best and icon!🤩🙏🙏
super äijä super fysiikka, tolla fysiikalla olis rikottu kaikki selänteen nhl ennätykset, jos laji olisi toinen #salute!
his broad jump was RIDICULOUS!

AntillRS... Anyone can be that good if they work as hard as the greats. It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think your not.

What style grip does he use?

Tremendous power and explosiveness!!
Arvostusta kaipais, sitä täältä ainakin tulee. Kova jätkä... moni ei tiedä mitä tämäkin laji vaatii.
It's Puffy. PSH, obviously. Can you guess he title. The background track is taken from kashmir. I think it's on the Godzilla album.
