I am so incredibly happy you decided to go deep into the lore and understanding the world and the pale. Most people just rush the main story and dont take anything earnestly

I can't imagine rushing through this game, it really demands you invest yourself in its world!

The Pale is such a cool concept, isn't it? The only other time when I was this intrigued by a game's worldbuilding was when I was explained the metaphysics of Planescape Torment.
Also, congrats on learning about epistemology! Have fun going deep into the rabbit hole :P

Never expected to see "Kim distrusts you." on a non-racist playthrough

I was surprised too. I guess it's mostly that he just doesn't trust him yet? Because of the lack of corpse investigating.

Considering we met just this morning and what he's seen of me since, I can't exactly blame him

@@LukaelPlaysThere is an *achievement* for solving the case without ever looking at the body.

Incredible how much you can get done in a day when you're not hampered by a pesky murder investigation! 😂
Personally, I love Lena and her cryptozoology. She's so endearing, even Kim has to give in.
Looking forward to the next episode!

This was a good episode to hear you reflect on things, after not wishing to discuss politics or economics in the previous episode. Not that I blame you, it is a polarizing topic, and one that I would not claim to be expert in either. But these conversation topics with Joyce are awesome.
If you read about the history of the Pale of Settlement in eastern Europe there are symbolic similarities, although I do not think this was intentional on the part of the developers. It only has meaning to me because of of the history of my ancestors. I do not expect most people to be able to relate.
About traveling through the pale. I don't think she is saying that motion doesn't exist, she said the frame of reference disappears. For example, say you are in the middle of a great plain, millions of square kilometers. If there are no trees, no houses, no objects other than the grass beneath your feet, how can you tell you are moving? Sure, you can feel your legs burning calories, but you cannot tell how fast you are moving or how far you have traveled. You can't really prove that you moved anywhere at all, without an object to measure yourself against.
I thought the Hardy Boys were the mystery novels I read when I was a boy, written from 1959-1973. 😆
    More!

@1:03:00 I was NOT expecting a Langoliers reference but I love it - it doesn't fit perfectly but if you want any sort of context on the pale I think it's a great place to start. Not that I'm any expert on the pale or anything - just glad you're geeked out as it as I was when I got to this part. People much smarter than me have put together all kinds of theorycraft on the pale and depending on how into lore you get it's fun to delve into.

Ahah I mean, not that I think the Pale is anything like the Langoliers, it was just a funny thing I was reminded of 😆

@LukaelPlays no, I get where you're coming from at least, the idea of the past being something concrete enough to then go ahead and abstract again. It's all weird ideas, of course, but that's why it's fun.

Hope it’s not too late: there’s a possible game breaking softlock on day 2. Do not forget to pay for your room, or run out of money after 2am.

+1 for Langoliers mention. +2 for correctly describing the story as crap but with a cool concept. +10 for looking up words you don't know in the video.
