  • We love a good braai, and really enjoy trying all sorts of recipes on the braai & fire! In this episode, we make a firm favourite all across Southern Africa: pap, wors, and chakalaka. Just one of many ways to celebrate National Heritage Day. Hope you enjoy this how-to, and #NationalBraaiDay.
So if you'd like to know how to make pap on the fire, and how to braai a great juicy wors, as well as a recipe for a slightly different chakalaka to the norm, you are at the right place!
Check out all our other #BraaiDay episodes listed below, on making biltong, braai'ing the perfect snoek, picanha on the grill, lamb curry potjie, and a braai brood recipe.
Pap refers to a savoury "porridge" of sorts, served as a starch as part of a main meal, made of maize meal.
Wors is a particularly Southern African spiced sausage, made mostly of beef and dried coriander (though ingredients and recipes vary widely).
Chakalaka is a sort of hash, usually made with tomatoes and onions, that accompanies the pap as a sauce.

Thanks for the video! A humble request, please reduce the background music while you are talking. It becomes difficult to hear you over the music. Of course when you increase the volume, the volume of the music also increases.

Thank you for the feedback Glynn. We will keep note of this. Is this the case with all our episodes or this one in particular?
