  • This time, we will make a long jig that targets blue fish that prey on cutlassfish, using a used metal jig and wood as the main materials.
It is a so-called wood jig, but it weighs 140g, so it can be used at deep points where hairtail patterns are established.
As always, it's an easy lure making process, using materials and tools that are readily available.
■We have summarized recommended epoxy coating agents on our blog.

    ■Main materials
    ・Used metal jigs (40g☓3 pieces)
    ・Wood (paulownia wood, etc.)

    ・Eyeball sticker

I would join all 3 inside with split rings

      I see! That's a great idea!

@@carlslurecraft just in case, if you hit a rock accidentally and have little crack after, split rings would keep together if you get big fish

@@mrbal7778 I agree! That way, even if the lure is damaged, the fish won't be able to escape.👍️

Been a fan of your work and channel for long... however as an angler, not sure about gigantic lures...
Would you prefer a huge lure like this over a small to regular size one?
I do understand that cutlass or ribbon fish is a great bait for kingfish and wahoo, but they also could be caught of way smaller lure as well...
    What are your thoughts?
    Thanks!

I try to use lures that match the baitfish my target fish are feeding on that day.
Fish chasing large baits cannot be caught with small lures.
Additionally, larger lures may have a noticeable advantage when targeting larger fish.
In some parts of Japan, jigging using long jigs is used to target yellowtail and amberjack under hairtail bait.
      Thank you (^^)

@@carlslurecraft thanks for your thoughts.... personally caught huge fishes, salt and freshwater alike, with very small and micro lures.... however, lure selection is anglers choice, whatever works, works ;)
Having said that, I prefer smaller lures, more sporty and easier to apply and remove from fish.

I also generally prefer small lures.
It's physically easy, and I like fishing by casting often and making it act like a small fish 😄
