- Taken on 10.5.23 at the 1st Avenue/Allen Street entrance at 2nd Avenue. As of late-Summer, early-Fall 2023, the MTA has been installing vending machines to purchase and reload your OMNY cards at subway stations. Allowing the MTA to completely phase out the MetroCard's which have been in use since 1994. As of this filming, the OMNY vending machines are out of service.
I like the big screen on those Venting machines.
I just checked out the one by Bryant Park. Nice to know 2 Av got one too.
Finally. More progress.
These new OMNY machines look very interesting, I also like how u used an old camera to film this video, what camera is this btw?
I use a regular point and shoot Sony Cybershot camera. I have been using Sony cameras since October 2012. At first glance, the new OMNY vending machines are smaller than the MetroCard Vending Machines. Looking forward to seeing more and more of them.
Tokens were 50 years old when they retired it, and now metro cards will be next to go when they retire them at 30 years old
I'll be optimistic till they installed it at my home station. Still expecting more vending machines like these by Years end. 😏
MTA SERVICE BUSES MTA OK
Is this new stuff in the US? 😆😆
We've had contactless pay for subway since 2019
Not in the US, but in New York. The MTA of New York is far behind other transit systems worldwide. Atlanta's MARTA system had tap to pay since the mid 2000's.
