It's a fully working system too as the signalman out front uses them to communicate with the fiddle yard operators at each end of the layout, just like on a real railway. Very impressive! Thanks for watching 😃
Absolutely everything about this layout is incredible, as long as one ignores the trees. Because everything about this layout is awesome save for the trees.
Trees are often one of the biggest compromises on all layouts really as in reality they'd be much bigger. In model form though they tend to dominate a scene so artistic license is often applied. Thanks for watching 😃
Visit the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, located at Haven Street on the Island. You will see Adams O2 tank engine, Calbourne, and two Terriers, Newport & Fishbourne. I've had the pleasure (when I was much younger) of volunteering at the railway. What is impressive is that the Heritage Railway has acquired four-wheeled coaches, which became holiday chalets or beach huts at St Helens. Through patience and skill, they have restored these pre-grouping coaches.
Thanks David, really glad you enjoyed it. I would say most of the hard work has been done by the modellers here, it always makes my job a lot easier when I have a good looking layout and smooth running locos to film. Thanks for watching 😃
You have gorgeous control of your trains!! You have enough of them to keep my interest and I very much appreciate the amount of work you must have put into it.
Just to confirm this isn't my layout - I just filmed it at the recent Bluebell Railway Exhibition. But there is a link in the description where you can find out more about those who did build it. Thanks for watching 😃
@ThatModelRailwayGuy ahhh Nice I went there on the Saturday haha. Had a nice chat with them lol yeah it should be a good one. Still gotta find more layouts and exhibitors yet 🤣 have room for Well over 100 exhibitors
Thanks Peter, I try to create a relaxing atmosphere with the music so it's always nice when it's appreciated - though personally I think Plumpton Green is lightyears ahead of Pickwick Yard from a modelling point of view 😅 Thanks for watching 👍
What a wonderful layout!! I have a micro layout that represents Walmington-on-Sea. Three trains are run, the two passenger trains in strict succession.
I agree, this is a wonderful model railroad and has successfully captured the atmosphere and nostalgia of the time. Those steamers in their striking livery and period 6 wheel coaches are worthy contenders for anyone’s collection.
Fantastic in every respect. They’ve done well with the layout & your film is very well made. Throughly recommend their own films where they show the train sequences and corresponding signal box bell codes. Informative & relaxing. Keep up the great work - Alex.
Yes I was talking to them about their own videos too. It's always great to see full sequences play out on a layout along with additional information. Thanks for watching 😃
Now this is what I wanna do when I’m older. Have all Marsh Umber Locos running around near Brighton, it’ll be great. There’s only 7 ready to run locos, and as of 2024 one isn’t even out yet. Those being: A1 E1 E2 E4 H1 H1 K Class
It's an interesting that there's actually been quite a few different RTR LBS&CR locos released (in comparison to other pre-grouping companies) but not a huge amount of RTR rolling stock as far as I'm aware. Hopefully that might start to change soon. Thanks for watching 👍
I’ve watched on their site, using switches and bells, such dedication… and truly wonderful to watch. Can I ask what Pre-Grouping means? Thanks for videoing this and all the other shows you go to… I’m in Aus and love watching British shows.
It's a fascinating way to view a layout and makes you feel like you're actually in the signal box! Pre-Grouping is basically the era before the big 4 railway companies (LNER, LMS, SR, GWR) were formed in 1923 which grouped all the smaller independent railway companies together. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 😃
@@Tekytek you can really go down the rabbit hole too. Pioneering, pre grouping, big four, British railways, privatisation, modern. And those rough time frames can be split up even further.
Absolutely love pre grouping era layouts. There's plenty of rtr locos and stock available to buy. I've got a pre grouping N gauge layout with 6 locos. The music here really adds to the atmosphere of this one too.
It's really gained in popularity in the last few years as manufacturers have caught on to the fact we like all the pretty liveries 😁 Glad you like the music, it's all stuff I write myself for the channel so it's nice when it's appreciated. Thanks for watching 👍
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy absolutely. I bought a Farish SECR C class because of it's livery. I run NER but rule 1 and WW1 home front let's you get away with pretty much anything. Wish I'd got the matching livery Terrier when I saw it.
What an incredible layout! The scenery is super well done, but I think the thing that makes this layout so impressive is that all the Locos and Rolling Stock are kit-built. Completely unrelated to this video, I’ve been having problems with DCC fitting my Bachmann J72. I fitted it with a Gaugemaster Onmi Next 18 decoder, and as soon as I did that, it could no longer do a crawl and it is now very erratic in its running, and almost always cuts out on points. I’ve never used a Gaugemaster decoder, and the loco works fine on analog, plus yours works well with the sound decoder, so I’m kinda beginning to think it’s a problem with the decoder. Have you had any experience with the Gaugemaster ones? Sorry that was a ridiculously long comment 😂.
Yes, very impressive and to such a high standard you wouldn't think that they were kit-built at all! Regarding the Gaugemaster decoders, I've had a few and I'll admit I'm not really a fan of them. I had a couple blow on me for no reason and the one that remains tends to judder at slow speed. Personally I fit Zimo decoders now whenever I can as I found them to be very consistent with all my locos. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃
Hi Paul, this isn't my layout - I just filmed it so I'm afraid I don't know. However there's a link in the description to the owners website which has more info about Plumpton Green and it's construction. Thanks for watching 😃
I love the little bells. That’s the modelling version of the railway telegraph.

Wonderful! Even nicer to have seen La France rush through with a rake of Pullmans
They certainly had a good mixture of operations and it was all running to a timetabled sequence too. Thanks for watching 😃
Loved the music and the layout a joy to watch. Thanks for shaing it.
GOD BLESS from America

Absolutely, I kept coming back to the layout throughout the day because it just had such a wonderful atmosphere. Thanks for watching 😃
Such a beautiful layout spoke to them at the bluebell railway show. had to invite them to the show im running next year

Layouts set in the UK before 1923 when the grouping act was passed resulting in the big four railway companies.

I can’t find the Zimo ones anywhere unfortunately. Are the Lenz or DCC Concepts ones any good?
saw this at Warley 22 - won best signalled and rightly so
I couldn't agree more, it was fascinating to have essentially a working signal box out front in view of the public. Thanks for watching 😃
Is the scene era 1920s or 1930s? I can’t date it by the way it looks!!
Be early 20's at the latest, pre grouping is up to 1923.
It's definitely pre-1923 from the LBSCR locos. I believe those who built it say that it represents a period between 1900-1914 👍
Was this layout DCC controlled?
I don't know for certain but given some of the operations shown in the video I would imagine that it was. Thanks for watching 😃
