“Ego death” is just and only short and long term memory suppression that makes you forget who you are. You still have an modus operandi, specific to yourself, being altered by a substance. The feeling that you went through an important experience post trip is what contributes to feelings of superiority, ego. Everyone has an ego. Just calm down and stop the self importance
Why is it that this place is obsessed with the external? 'what have you done for me lately' type stuff. Life and death aren't about helping people. Life and death is a solitary experience. You don't take your friends with you ya know.
Ego death has nothing to do with killing ego, it just lets you experience what it feels like not having an ego for a moment. "Killing ego" is a lifes work. With years, tens of years of hard work you can shrink your ego to almost nothing if you are serious. I don't even focus on ego, I focus on getting rid of fear, which is where most of ego comes from. Ego shrinking is just a side effect. Fear is hard to see though, many people think that they do not have any fears, but it would be impossible to stress for example without fear.
Wanting to destroy your ego is like wanting to see a fish breathe on the shore. It's illogical and impossible. The ego is essentially who you are as a person, it's your "soul", your "spirit" and ultimately your personality and sense of awareness. To completely destroy this part of your life would be to end your life completely because you can't be a live without having an ego, just like a fish can't breathe without being underwater. Pych's can offer you a glimpse of what it is like to be completely detached from your sense of self. But they can never destroy your ego. You will always have it, so it's best to learn when and how to feed it, and also knowing when not to encourage negative parts. Basically, people who've killed their ego either become narcissists or totally submissive "no-lives". And nobody likes either of those, let alone when you combine them.
The key is to sublimate the ego, to Transform it, through this transmutation of your personality, you gain self mastery which flips the script meaning before you were a slave to the ego thinking you are just that and it runs the show, but then you reverse the roles, the ego becomes an instrument where you now have full control over and use to navigate reality. Its a subtle difference but it makes all the difference, this is spiritual alchemy, its a transformation/ a sublimation from the animalistic to the human to the divine nature.
I wrote this as a reply to a deleted comment but it did kind of turn into a bit of me yapping. well articulated perspective. I would ask you what has made the psychedelic experiences you have had worthwhile so far? What more meaningful experience are you looking to have? What was your first trip like? For me, the first trip was the strongest experience I had on trips and I can relate to the weird feeling on the spirit molecule, it's hard to put that one in words too. I struggle to really articulate what it's like to hallucinate truly and have your mind feel like it's blown apart. I dropped about 5 tabs once, and it was an intense experience, but not one that I found to be world shattering, or as world shattering as my first trip straight from a vial onto a fruit tingle (fizzy lolly). That one had me feel like I witnessed multiple timelines at once as I was ripped out of one reality and thrown into another altogether. It sorta feels like I never came back either. I've been drifting out in spiritual desert with multiple psychosis's. Once felt like I was being flushed through spiritual sewage as punishment for my ego. Must have been a bad trip that one, it stuck with me. The feeling of being dirty. It kinda feels like being at war with yourself, always chasing some divine spark when completely ignoring the obvious existence of it in front of us at any given second.
Hey man, just wanted to say that I relate to this a lot and you're not alone. Having an experience of that kind of intensity isn't something you can ever be prepared for, and it's not as though there's any kind of rulebook for adjusting the way you look at life and the universe in the aftermath.
With high dose psychedelic experiences, ego deaths may just happen, whether you want one or not. The danger is when afterwards, you cling to it as somehow making you better or more spiritual than others. Then it ironically just turns into another ego trip. If you have an ego death experience, just learn what you can from it and move on.
from my expierience in the time i had "no ego" after some profound trips i was an easy target. i was not in good company at that time so people around me took advantage out of that. now im kinda glad im a bit more egoistic again and i dont want to trip again atm bc of that. having a little ego is protectin you, keeping you save. this world is not a hippie community. its acutally a pretty rough place. stay safe my people❤🩹
Psychedelics made me a crazy, arrogant, prick. It's user error. A young 20 something freshly free from organized religion, there was no ideological structure to catch me. I felt I'd noticed something that no one else had so I figured it was up to me to save the world. I wasn't able to accomplish that, but hey it was a hell of a good time.
Once you’ve let go of the identity that you are a “good person” Or a “ spiritual person” or “ beyond ego “ you set yourself free. If you identify as some completed spiritual master you will walk with a shadow of shame. Part of you knows you’re no saint. That a part of you is the devil itself. Until you can reconcile that it will stay in your shadow and haunt you. It’s a much more balanced life to make shame your advisor. Let him sit in your council table. Let him tell you when and where you fuck up. Then own it and try to grow.
I thought I was Jesus reincarnated after my spiritual awakening last year. It took some weeks for me to move past this. I think it's natural for one's ego to expand to colossal heights after one of these experiences, and thus that it takes time to resituate ourselves after this, as we need to naturally give ourselves enough time to literally come back down to earth.
Also big thing on the too much: They told me "just let go, dissolve your ego, take more, you need to let go" all that crap while i was lost in nihilism thinking whatever i decide about anything is already decided and all that crap about me being so small just messed me up more bc I got that Clinical Depression 😂
If you dissolve the ego life gets more frustrating as you begin to understand how ridiculous everything is especially the human mind. When the ego is controlling youre getting ignorant to those things
Be devoted to serving love in the highest ideal. Everything else will be perfect after that, no matter what. Love yourself and all contained within that whole. Enjoy the presence of the divine within . No drugs required. But use them as tools if you feelthat strongly of their necessity. Just be happy and grow out of negativity and a busy chaotic mind. Control the mind by letting it go as it will and create any world you dream to live in. It's all a dream. Realize that and be happy.
I agree that you should not kill your Ego. But i think you should realize that your ego was always already dead. I think what we can learn from psychedelics is, that our ego has no point of unity, it is exactly all the connections with other subjects. Only by being perceived by the other or by perceiving myself as the other do i feel the sense of having an ego.
i guess that would be called 'covert narcissism' if someone runs around showing "enlightened" yet they actually self-exceptionalize themselves? i see every day as a tabula rosa & LOVE the crude & mundane when i see that, or whatever else, around me . . .
kinda like how Eckhart Tolle puts it, you can't fight your ego because it is the will to fight. It will just "sneak in through the back door" if you try.
Ego is a persons sense of self-esteem and personal identity. You said “for simplicity’s sake, it’s your mind’s way of perceiving reality”. Seems like the word you’re looking for is “perspective” or something 🤷
it seems like the creator of our past and future when we allow the present to fall away, a means of competitive mental judgement in comparison to present heart discernment
It is worth noting that clinical natcissists have no ego either, leading them to compensate somehow (usually by acting self important.) The biological reaction to "lacking an ego" is usually to inflate it or to copy others/absorb and mirror people/surroundings (which clinical narccisists may do to some extent, and is more common in people with borderline personality disorder traits, BPD also lacks a sense of self/ego similarly to narcissism.) There is healthy and unhealthy, and ego death isn't inherently healthy just as the presence or absence of ego isn't. But it's ultimately a loop: no ego becomes a lot of ego, those with a lot of ego can become hollow.
I really wouldn’t know where to start correcting your misconceptions, contradictions and misunderstandings of your chosen vocabulary. Narcissism is an inflated ego; anything but the lack of ego. BPD is all about the ego. Please do not use terminology you learned off of RUclips videos.
Trying to kill the ego while not understanding what it is caused these kinds of illusions Ego death/dissolution can be a great tool for breakthroughs within us, but it's not because the ego doesn't come back, it's precisely the opposite Ego death itself usually only lasts as long as the trip itself, the benefits from it actually come from the reintegration period, usually a couple of weeks to months where the ego gains extra plasticity after being dissolved and this allows us new opportunities to almost "rebuild" certain schemas, learn new healthier perspectives on the world that lay in out ego, and in turn resulting in a stronger but HEALTHIER ego, one that now we're also more cognizant of because we witnessed it die and had the opportunity to more thoughtfully rebuild it again So ironically true spirituals understand that ego death is much closer to the analogy of a Phoenix, through it's temporary death it gets a chance to put itself back together in new ways, each time with our new gained wisdom and experience because of age, it is not at all about murdering the ego and pretending it's gone forever, because it always comes back, it's literally a part of our brain, there are scans that even show the specific area where the ego lies in our brain and we can see the differences in how scattered or integrated it is under different mind stated, it can be dissolved temporarily under ego death, but it always comes back You can learn how to welcome it with open arms and introduce it to the world again without the old baggage of trauma, or you can be a pseudo spiritual and proclaim your ego is dead while the ego comes back and eats you from the inside
They are desperate and become evil losing Something important and its bad state of mind they caused themselves and now they want to manipulate other with ego that they loose their ego
I have no idea what of me or my thoughts are my ego. Ive tried to understand ego for 2 years but i cant understand anything in a sentence about ego. I feel realy stupid

Ive been watching you for a long time I think like ten years you Dakota his brother and Adam you guys always come through with good videos, I saw a video talking about the video you did talking to that Christian guy debunking Christ consciousness I respect your opinion and point of view they just don't get it's ok to talk to people have the other point of view so don't even worry about it if you even see this comment ✌🏽 keep learning in this life bro we're only human
It's also ok to learn to live a sacred life and become spiritual people act like it's irrational and weird to connect to your ancestors and ancestral way of life learning to love your body get sober and learn healthy thoughts patterns bro people also just hate on anything you do you choose the way you want to live and no one can stop you from doing that but tom has a great point that you need to keep yourself in check and not become delusional we're all just human and humans are known to fall for those traps in general it's all good to trip but don't start being delusional thinking you're the reincarnation of Jesus or whoever unless you really are 😅 then I'm sorry TEACH ME YOUR WISDOM🤣✌🏽
How big are people’s egos that point the ego finger??
Great advice,, thank you brother ❤🙏
Yeah buddy. Hey do you have more of those sweaters left with the purple mushrooms im so imprinted. I'm thinking about purchasing
Do you believe people like Ramana were living without ego?
This video was mad Tom keep it up
Ego always comes back and never seems to learn to relax. That's just how it is, no matter how many times you've proven it wrong.
hi I’ve been watching ur vids since I was like 19. They’ve made me grow and mature and realize a lot of stuff that normally I wouldn’t since I can’t just turn to my parents for this kinda stuff. In a way you’ve guided me. Thank you for that! Keep up the good work, when I say I love all ur videos, I really do mean it!!! 🥹
Great video Tom!! Cheers mate
If you wanna kill your ego just know you'll need a long ass time to recover and tbh it's difficult to live in this world without ego
Did you actually watch the video?
@@elChulachaki nope
A very simple way to explain all of this is called humility.
Excellent video
Dude, that was fucking awesome......I needed to hear this. bits and bits picked up on the road
Well said!! Someone had to
It’s more of an Ego knockout than a death.
Ego death can be a trap for those who have issues with self hatred.
You were clearly talking about just the messenger 😂😂😂
Fear is hard to see though, many people think that they do not have any fears, but it would be impossible to stress for example without fear.
how tf can you kill something that doesn't exist?
It is subtile and sublime and it does exist
Ego does exist. Your ego was involved in this comment.
Great video
Thank you so much
The key is to sublimate the ego, to Transform it, through this transmutation of your personality, you gain self mastery which flips the script meaning before you were a slave to the ego thinking you are just that and it runs the show, but then you reverse the roles, the ego becomes an instrument where you now have full control over and use to navigate reality. Its a subtle difference but it makes all the difference, this is spiritual alchemy, its a transformation/ a sublimation from the animalistic to the human to the divine nature.
ego liberation!
Totaly agree mate! great video!
When I did a mushroom trip I had no interest in the t.v, usual things I look at on my phone or even smoking
It's easy to say you have no ego if nothing challenges your character.
The most traumatic experience I have had on psychedelics, was being forced to listen to tecno!! 😢
Being spiritual to try and kill the ego is the ego itself
Killed my ego now were equal.
Even sounds flowyer
I like the term “embracing your ego” more than ego death
With high dose psychedelic experiences, ego deaths may just happen, whether you want one or not. The danger is when afterwards, you cling to it as somehow making you better or more spiritual than others. Then it ironically just turns into another ego trip. If you have an ego death experience, just learn what you can from it and move on.
from my expierience in the time i had "no ego" after some profound trips i was an easy target. i was not in good company at that time so people around me took advantage out of that. now im kinda glad im a bit more egoistic again and i dont want to trip again atm bc of that. having a little ego is protectin you, keeping you save. this world is not a hippie community. its acutally a pretty rough place. stay safe my people❤🩹
Cannot wait to trip again 🍄
Tonight :), 2.1 grams cubensis
@@dustinemerzian5989 alright, your place? ill be there in spirit ;)
make sure to meditate before you eat them. ingesting psychedelics can always wait and shouldn't be done without haste.
Also big thing on the too much:
They told me "just let go, dissolve your ego, take more, you need to let go" all that crap while i was lost in nihilism thinking whatever i decide about anything is already decided and all that crap about me being so small just messed me up more bc
I got that
Clinical Depression 😂
Psychs to me were like: "You're worthless and nothing matters or is worth doing in this reality"
Me: "ok them why not kms? ... this can't be right..."
If you dissolve the ego life gets more frustrating as you begin to understand how ridiculous everything is especially the human mind. When the ego is controlling youre getting ignorant to those things
Side note: the biggest trap psychonauts end up falling for is prison
Only by being perceived by the other or by perceiving myself as the other do i feel the sense of having an ego.
i guess that would be called 'covert narcissism' if someone runs around showing "enlightened" yet they actually self-exceptionalize themselves? i see every day as a tabula rosa & LOVE the crude & mundane when i see that, or whatever else, around me . . .
I love you man ❤.
kinda like how Eckhart Tolle puts it, you can't fight your ego because it is the will to fight. It will just "sneak in through the back door" if you try.
Ego is a persons sense of self-esteem and personal identity. You said “for simplicity’s sake, it’s your mind’s way of perceiving reality”. Seems like the word you’re looking for is “perspective” or something 🤷
that sounds just like ego but with exta steps
it seems like the creator of our past and future when we allow the present to fall away, a means of competitive mental judgement in comparison to present heart discernment
It is worth noting that clinical natcissists have no ego either, leading them to compensate somehow (usually by acting self important.)
The biological reaction to "lacking an ego" is usually to inflate it or to copy others/absorb and mirror people/surroundings (which clinical narccisists may do to some extent, and is more common in people with borderline personality disorder traits, BPD also lacks a sense of self/ego similarly to narcissism.)
There is healthy and unhealthy, and ego death isn't inherently healthy just as the presence or absence of ego isn't. But it's ultimately a loop: no ego becomes a lot of ego, those with a lot of ego can become hollow.
Blathering nonsense. Using psychology words (big words) sometimes doesn’t make you seem educated.
I really wouldn’t know where to start correcting your misconceptions, contradictions and misunderstandings of your chosen vocabulary. Narcissism is an inflated ego; anything but the lack of ego. BPD is all about the ego. Please do not use terminology you learned off of RUclips videos.
but what if ego kills you?
Trying to kill the ego while not understanding what it is caused these kinds of illusions
Ego death/dissolution can be a great tool for breakthroughs within us, but it's not because the ego doesn't come back, it's precisely the opposite
Ego death itself usually only lasts as long as the trip itself, the benefits from it actually come from the reintegration period, usually a couple of weeks to months where the ego gains extra plasticity after being dissolved and this allows us new opportunities to almost "rebuild" certain schemas, learn new healthier perspectives on the world that lay in out ego, and in turn resulting in a stronger but HEALTHIER ego, one that now we're also more cognizant of because we witnessed it die and had the opportunity to more thoughtfully rebuild it again
So ironically true spirituals understand that ego death is much closer to the analogy of a Phoenix, through it's temporary death it gets a chance to put itself back together in new ways, each time with our new gained wisdom and experience because of age, it is not at all about murdering the ego and pretending it's gone forever, because it always comes back, it's literally a part of our brain, there are scans that even show the specific area where the ego lies in our brain and we can see the differences in how scattered or integrated it is under different mind stated, it can be dissolved temporarily under ego death, but it always comes back
You can learn how to welcome it with open arms and introduce it to the world again without the old baggage of trauma, or you can be a pseudo spiritual and proclaim your ego is dead while the ego comes back and eats you from the inside
Ego death types sure do talk about themselves a lot.
Just really wanna chat with you in person. Im living in Sai Gon Viet Nam, let me know if you visit my hometown. Thank you Mate
